Days passed, and while Dia's day classes were normal, she couldn't say the same for her night classes. She absolutely detested her Combat Training class with every fiber in her body!
Unlike the other human and nonhuman students, she knew nothing about fighting and could barely throw a punch, leaving her always landing on her butt when forced into a mock battle with her classmates. She did find her Supernatural World History class interesting.
The same went for her Magic and Potion Crafting Class. When Dia entered the room, she was shocked to see only a handful of students, all girls in the classroom.
The one teaching this class was a charming lady whose choice of attire was always chic. The purpose of this class was to teach young witches and fairies about their roots and the abilities they possessed.
Ms. Hana, the woman in charge of these lessons, was a patient woman when it came to her students, giving off a nice and friendly vibe. The first homework assignment she assigned to the class dealt with potion brewing.
From the Book of Potions given to each student, they were to pick one and create a potion of their choosing by following the instructions and ingredients listed below. The project was due Friday, which was today. Dia stood inside the empty classroom of her Magic and Potion Crafting Class.
Her study book sat open on the table, and she wore a mask over her face. On the burner, a black cauldron sat with pink liquid boiling and bubbling inside.
"Okay, so I added four cups of grapefruit juice, three lemon seeds, a mint leaf, and—Wait a second! What the heck are the tears of a Dream Nightmare Frog?!" Dia threw her hands up in frustration, unaware when a pair of timid footsteps walked inside the room.
"Umm, hello?" Hearing a female voice greet her, she lifted her head and saw a cute girl with tan skin and thick raven hair with streaks of midnight blue braided into two thick scalp braids that hung way past her shoulders.
The uniform was one Dia only saw a glimpse of, a high waisted skirt that was a pastel shade of blue and white. The girl wore a clean white collar shirt underneath a light blue suit jacket with a matching tie. The uniform was cute and refined, embellished with silver accents as the tie had the silver emblem of an open book etched onto it.
"Hello?" Dia greeted the girl, wondering what she wanted from her.
"I'm passing out flyers hoping to recruit new members for my afternoon club!" The girl with the chubby babyish face and curvy figure flashed her a cute dimpled smile. Taking the flyer from the other girl, Dia read the requirements that belonged to an after-school baking club.
"A baking club!" The girl grew excited and happy at the look of interest that appeared on Dia's face. Who at least looked at her handmade flyers and did not throw them away!
"Cafe Black Swan?" Dia read how students who wished to join would have the opportunity to work at the cafe and earn extracurricular class credits.
"I'm the one who manages the cafe. So not only will you have the opportunity to improve your skills but you can make a profit! And if you put in the hard work and love, you can even have your signature dessert promoted on the cafe menu!"
The girl had the makings of a great salesperson as she had Dia by the hook. Dia was just about to agree when she took a look at the other girl and remembered where she saw her before.
"I've seen you before… You're in my Magic and Potion Crafting Class!"
"It's nice to meet a fellow witch! My name's Raven, by the way!" The girl was friendly as she introduced herself.
"H-How did you know I'm a witch? I didn't tell you anything?" Dia pondered on how this girl who she just spoke to today knew her secret.
"We're bonded by a sisterhood; if you concentrate, you can sense me as well. Just like other supernaturals of the same race, witches can sense each other." Without missing a beat, Raven was nice enough to explain this to the short pigtailed brunette whose eyes sparkled with amazement.
"Wow, I didn't know that!"
"It's okay, you'll find out more about your heritage soon, now that you've awakened."
Once again, Dia wore a look of bewilderment on her face and the girl smiled.
"Everyone in the Night Class knows about what happened at Sara's party. Besides when a witch awakens, it's very melodramatic and hard to miss. If you wish to join our club or simply want to know more about our heritage, my contact info is listed on the flyer. Give me a call or text!"
The girl left Dia to ponder on her thoughts as she stared at Raven's contact information printed on the flyer.

"Tell me again why I'm out in the middle of the forest looking for some creepy frog?" asked Lisa as she and Alice decided to help Dia with her project.
The forest they searched was on school grounds, but was a restricted area where only night class students were allowed entrance, but they managed to sneak Lisa inside. The last ingredient Dia needed for her healing potion was a Dream Nightmare Frog.
Dia was on her hands and knees scouring the forest grounds when she heard a terrifying scream that made her jump to her feet and run in the direction it came from. Both Lisa and Dia met up and saw Alice hiding behind a tree.
"I found it! It's right there!" Alice pointed a shaking finger across from where she hid, and there on the ground, both girls saw a purple slimy skinned frog with an extra pair of red eyes.
"Dia, look, there goes your creepy frog–Wait a second! Don't tell me our sword warrior is afraid of frogs?" teased Lisa.
"They're slimy and gross!" shouted Alice, repulsed to even look at the creature. Dia stepped forth with her jar open. Crouching down, she scooped the frog inside before screwing the lid.
"Alice, you can come out now! Dia's got her creepy frog!" called out Lisa, to which Alice replied, "Make sure you keep it out of my sight!"
"Yeah, we gotcha ya! Now let's go before sixth period begins!" No matter how much Lisa wanted to tease Alice, they only had five minutes to get to class.

In the middle of her Magic and Potion Crafting class, Dia watched as various female students walked up to the rat sitting on Ms. Hana's desk which was being used as a genuine pig to test out their potion.
So far half of the students succeed, such as Daphne who walked up and held a fancy perfume container, which she sprayed in the rodent's face. In seconds, the rat's eyes turned to hearts, falling under the effects of her love potion.
But what made Dia shudder was when Daphne, with a smile that could send one's heart fluttering, pure and gentle, issued a command to the rat.
"Kill yourself," she ordered with a smile still plastered on her face. Obeying her order, Dia watched the rodent hold its breath, as if its own life held no meaning anymore.
"Ms. Daphne," Ms. Hana warned and the girl with opal blue hair laughed as if she meant no harm.
"I revoke my command."
Daphne, in her prim blue and white uniform, went back to her seat, but Dia couldn't shake off the cold feeling she was getting from the other girl.
As students came up to test their potions, Dia noticed the majority wore blue and white uniforms, which from what she learned from Alice, meant they were witches. Only three of the girls were seen sporting pink and white ones, representing that they were part of the fairy race.
From amongst the group that tested their potions, she recognized Raven, who had created a potion that turned the rodent invisible. When it finally came time for her to step in front of the class, she reached into her pocket to retrieve her spray bottle.
'Let's hope this works!' mentally said Dia, spraying the mist right in the rodent's face. She watched the rat grow sleepy with anticipated eyes, swaying on its feet and about to fall over, but nothing happened.
Dia picked a Dream Potion because the ingredients were easy to find except for one. Judging by its name, she assumed the effects were to put one to sleep. Could she have been wrong?
"Ms. Dia, hand me the bottle."
She handed the spray bottle to Ms. Hana and watched the woman spray it on her wrist, sniffing at it before staring into deep thought.
"To make a potion work, ingredients alone are not enough." This was a shocker to Dia, who had believed all she needed to do was follow the instructions in their study book to make her potion work.
"One must focus and think about what type of potion they wish to create. Take this Dream Potion, for example. Did you think about what type of dream potion you wanted to create? Such as one that induced nightmares, or placed the target in an illusioned world, or one that simply put one to sleep?" Dia shook her head, but instead of embarrassing her, Ms. Hana just smiled and patted her arm.
"If it was either of these three or something else, you must pour all of your focus and add it with your magic for it to take effect. The Book of Potions only gives you the basic ingredients. The rest relies on the magic user and their capabilities."
Sitting back at her desk, Dia hated the fact that she failed her assignment, but at least on the bright side, she learned something new. After class was let out, she stood in the hallway waiting for Alice when she received a text from her aunt.
{9:55: Busy right now. We'll talk once I get back in town.}
