Chapter 9 - SOMETHING

Yeonsuk rode his motorbike through the deserted streets at a moderate speed but this time he was not alone like before. Yeonsuk looked at his stomach and he saw a pair of hands hugging him tightly.

But not long after, Yeonsuk stopped his motorbike on the side of the road. Yeonsuk then looked back. "Where is your house?" asked Yeonsuk.

The woman behind Yeonsuk immediately looked at Yeonsuk. "What? O-oh... My house is not far from here, we just have to follow this road," she answered.

Without saying anything, Yeonsuk lowered his helmet and started the motorbike again with the woman still hugging his waist.

For twenty minutes they were on the road until finally Yeonsuk stopped his motorbike for the second time but the difference this time was that he stopped in front of a house.

Yeonsuk got off his motorbike and so did the woman. "Is this your house?"

The woman nodded her head. "Yes, this is my house," she answered.

"Then, go into your house," said Yeonsuk.

The woman furrowed her brow. "Are you just taking me home?" she said.

Yeonsuk nodded his head. "Yeah, I'm already taking you home so what else?"

The woman seemed lost for words hearing Yeonsuk's words. "But, I'm the prize you got for your victory and you're just taking me home?!" She said in disbelief.

That woman aka Gumin's girlfriend was the prize that Yeonsuk managed to get after winning the competition. But why did Yeonsuk only take her home? Yeonsuk didn't even touch her at all.

"Weren't you the one who wanted me as your gift?" said the woman to Yeonsuk.

What she said was true, right? Yeonsuk himself asked for it as a prize if Yeonsuk won the competition and Yeonsuk just drove her home like this.

"You didn't even touch me at all," the woman said back and walked over to Yeonsuk.

Yeonsuk took off the helmet he was wearing both his eyes looked at the woman to be in front of him. "I saved you," said Yeonsuk.

"Saved me? What do you mean?" The woman was confused by Yeonsuk's words. She wasn't in any danger, so why did Yeonsuk save her? She's fine there's nothing to save.

"I saved you from Gumin. I want you as a gift because I want you to realize that Gumin is not a good man for you," Yeonsuk explained.

What Yeonsuk said to that woman was true. He admitted that he did all this because he didn't like Gumin's arrogant nature but besides that he also wanted the women to realize that Gumin was not a good man and he had managed to prove it a few minutes ago.

If only Gumin was a good man, Gumin wouldn't just give his girlfriend to Yeonsuk just like that. Gumin didn't even try to take his girlfriend from Yeonsuk.

Is that the kind of man you call a good man?

Yeonsuk's eyes looked at the woman with a calming look. "Also, I will never touch a woman I don't love. Because my love will only be given to the right person and the one that I love," said Yeonsuk who then smiled softly under the street lamp.

...

Like the previous days, Heejin saw the reflection of herself wearing a school uniform in the mirror. She smoothed the skirt she was wearing to make it look more presentable and fit her small waist.

This time she let her hair loose because usually, she would always tie her long hair. "Alright, I look great," said Heejin who then smiled at the mirror.

Heejin took her backpack which already contained books and walked out of her bedroom. "Mommy!" Heejin shouted.

"I'm in the kitchen dear!" said Heejin's mother.

Heejin walked toward the kitchen and she immediately saw her mother slowly pouring milk into the glass.

"This is your breakfast dear," Heejin's mother said without taking her eyes off the milk glass.

"This time I won't have breakfast mom," said Heejin.

Heejin's mother furrowed her brows. "Why? You're going to school, dear," said Heejin's mother.

As a mother, of course, she doesn't want her daughter to go to school on with empty stomach. Even though it's just bread at least Heejin's stomach isn't empty so Heejin won't feel hungry while studying at school later. Moreover, Heejin has to walk to the bus stop first to go to school.

"I'll just drink this milk mom," said Heejin. She didn't want to eat breakfast because he wanted to eat at school later.

"Well then, this..." Heejin's mother gave the glass of milk to her daughter Heejin.

Heejin took the glass of milk from her mother's hand. "Thank you mom," Heejin drank the milk until there was nothing left.

Heejin placed the empty glass on the dining table. "I'm leaving mom," Heejin said while kissing her mother's cheek.

"Be careful dear," said Heejin's mother. Heejin nodded in response and walked out of the simple house that had been their place for so long.

...

Heejin looked at the clock on her cellphone screen. "I won't be late this time," Heejin mumbled then smiled.

There were still about a few more minutes before she was late, it could be said that today she left for school earlier than usual.

Heejin looked at the bus stop. It turned out that the bus she always rode had not yet arrived, so she sat at the bus stop. She was the only one sitting at the bus stop, maybe because today people prefer to use other public transportation.

Heejin sighed. "When can I ride a car like the others," Heejin said dreamily. It would be a big lie if she said she was never jealous of her other friends who were picked up by their private drivers every day in their expensive cars.

Meanwhile Heejin? Every day she has to walk and use the bus to go to her school which is also one of the reasons she is often late for school.

But what can Heejin do?

For daily meals, she and her mother can only eat simple food. Sometimes Heejin also has to help her mother work just to fulfill her daily life. They are still lucky and even very lucky because Heejin is still able to go to school, especially in one of the well-known schools in Seoul.

"Ma'am, are you daydreaming?"

Heejin jumped a little on the bus stop seat and lifted her bowed head.

"Yeonsuk?!" shocked Heejin.

Yeonsuk stood in front of Heejin slowly carved a smile on his handsome face and that was right! The owner of that voice is Yeonsuk Choi with his cotton candy hair.

"You seem very surprised to see me," said Yeonsuk giggling.

Heejin immediately stood up from the bus stop seat. "W-why are you here?"

Yeonsuk furrowed his brows. "Why? Nobody said I shouldn't be here, right?" said Yeonsuk.

"I-it's not like that, it's just..."

"I just came to your house," Yeonsuk interrupted.

"My house?" Heejin said feeling confused.

Yeonsuk sighed. "Why are you so slow to think?"

Heejin glared. "Hey! What did you just say?!"

Yeonsuk chuckled. "I came to your house because I wanted to pick you up. But you weren't home anymore," Yeonsuk explained to Heejin.

Before coming here he did go to Heejin's house. But he didn't find Heejin, because Heejin's mother told him that Heejin had left a few minutes ago.

"You didn't say that you wanted to come to my house and pick me up," said Heejin.

"Do I have to ask permission first? It's not necessary, right? Besides, I want to go to school with you," said Yeonsuk while looking at Heejin.

Yeonsuk said that because Yeonsuk had often come to Heejin's house and picked up Heejin to go to school together.

At that moment, Heejin immediately felt awkward with her blushing cheeks because of Yeonsuk's words to her.

Yeonsuk bowed his body slightly. "Oh, looks like I made you blush," Yeonsuk said with his little smile.

"Get away from me! You're too close!" Heejin gently pushed Yeonsuk's cheek.

D*mn Yeonsuk!

Can't Yeonsuk see that she's feeling awkward right now because of this handsome creature?! Which that handsome creature is Yeonsuk?!

Yeonsuk is always like this. Likes to tease her even though he doesn't care where they are. Like now, Yeonsuk teased her at the bus stop luckily there was no one else at this bus stop.

Yeonsuk laughed. "Hahahaha you're so cute," Yeonsuk pinched Heejin's cheek because Heejin was so cute.

"Hey! Stop pinching my cheeks!" Heejin whined while holding Yeonsuk's hand that was pinching her cheek.

After being satisfied with pinching Heejin's cheeks, Yeonsuk just removed his hand from Heejin's cheeks which were already reddened by Yeonsuk's pinching.

Heejin holds her reddened cheeks. "Ahh... see what you have done with my cheeks?!" Heejin said with a frown.

Her snow-white cheeks turned red because of this damn Yeonsuk Choi!

Yeonsuk's hand reached out to gently caress Heejin's red cheek. Heejin immediately fell silent with her eyes staring at Yeonsuk's face right in front of her. She saw the gentle gaze that Yeonsuk gave her as soft as Yeonsuk's hand caressing her cheek.

Heejin's heart was beating so fast.

"I'm sorry for making your cheeks red," said Yeonsuk.

Heejin froze. "I-it's okay..." Heejin replied nodding her head slowly.

Yeonsuk then smiled with his eyes looking deep into Heejin's eyes. "Don't blame me, it's because you are so beautiful. That I always want to tease you," said Yeonsuk in a low voice.

Heejin was completely frozen where she was standing, she was speechless at Yeonsuk's words. It was because she didn't believe what Yeonsuk had told her.

Alright, looks like Heejin has realized something... something she's always felt whenever she's with Yeonsuk. And Heejin knows what that 'something' is.

The 'something' she always felt was Heejin who had loved Yeonsuk since the first time they met.

Yes, in short Heejin loves her best friend Yeonsuk.
