Chapter 12 - SINCE WHEN? 3

The slightly rusty iron door was closed hard enough to make Heejin a little surprised. While the person who had closed the door walked leisurely to one of the worn-out couches there.

Heejin looked around, there was no one up there. It was just the two of them with the wind blowing hard making Heejin's hair fly as well as the skirt she was wearing. Heejin held her skirt It wouldn't be funny if her skirt suddenly lifted.

"You just want to stand there?"

"Huh? Me?" Heejin said pointing to herself.

"Yeah, of course. It's just the two of us here, so come here."

Heejin was silent for a moment then walked over to the worn-out couch then she sat on the couch slowly. She sat in the far corner of the couch leaving quite a distance between herself and the man sitting next to her.

"Yeonsuk, my name is Choi Yeonsuk," Yeonsuk said as he turned to look at Heejin.

Heejin was stunned. "I'm Shin Heejin, just call me Heejin."

"Ah... so you're the Heejin they always talk about?" said Yeonsuk while leaning on the couch.

Heejin nodded her head in response. Without needing to ask, she already knew what the students at her school always talked about her being bullied and laughed at by her school students.

"But may I know why we are here?" asked Heejin. She asked like that because she was feeling confused right now.

Yeonsuk crossed his legs. "Do you want to be downstairs and bullied by them again?" asked Yeonsuk.

Heejin shook her head. "No."

Of course, she didn't want to go back downstairs after what happened a few minutes ago. When she was bullied in the corridor and her hair was pulled. She could still feel the traces of the woman's tug on her hair and Heejin didn't want that to happen to her again.

"That's why I brought you to this rooftop," said Yeonsuk snapping his fingers.

That's right! Currently, the two of them are on the school's rooftop where there are several cardboard boxes, tires, and an old couch that they are currently sitting on.

Heejin seems to be thinking and is right with what Yeonsuk said. If she was downstairs right now, she would be bullied again.

Especially after Yeonsuk helped her.

Yeonsuk reached into his pants pocket and took out a cigarette and a lighter from his pants pocket.

CLICK

Yeonsuk lit his lighter then lit his cigarette. "Hufftt..." Yeonsuk exhaled the white smoke into the air as he lifted his head.

Heejin who had been watching Yeonsuk widen her eyes. "You smoke?!" shocked Heejin.

"Yes, why? Does anyone want to stop me?" Yeonsuk said casually.

Heejin is rendered speechless at this time. How can this guy casually smoke at school?!

He must be lost his mind!

"What if someone sees you?" Heejin said frantically.

If that happens there is a possibility that Yeonsuk will be expelled from this school immediately. Because Heejin knows the rules at her school which strictly prohibit students at this school from smoking.

Yeonsuk smiled a little. "Don't worry, no one will come here, because this place is my base," said Yeonsuk who was smoking his cigarette again.

This rooftop is indeed Yeonsuk's base, he always comes here when he wants to smoke or skip class. So automatically Yeonsuk's rooftop was labeled as his base.

Heejin was silent, she only watched Yeonsuk who was smoking beside her and Yeonsuk realized that Heejin was currently watching him.

"Am I very handsome?" said Yeonsuk suddenly.

Heejin immediately averted her gaze. "No..." said Heejin feeling embarrassed.

In her heart, she cursed herself for her stupidity while staring at Yeonsuk. Seeing this Yeonsuk laughed, feeling funny because he saw Heejin who was flustered.

"Hmmm... t-thanks for helping me," said Heejin shyly while lowering her head.

Heejin would like to thank Yeonsuk for helping and defending her from the bullying of students at their school as well because Yeonsuk had brought her to this rooftop.

She never thought that one day there would be someone who would help her from the bullying that she had always received.

Yeonsuk glanced at Heejin who was beside him. "I didn't accept your thanks."

Heejin immediately raised her head. "Huh? But why?" said Heejin. Of course, Heejin was surprised because Yeonsuk had refused her thanks.

Was it because her thanks sounded insincere? Or because Yeonsuk wanted something from her?

Yeonsuk threw away his cigarette, then stepped on the cigarette. "Is that how you say thank you to someone who helped you? You didn't even see my face," complained Yeonsuk.

That's right, you guys already know the reason why Yeonsuk refused Heejin's thanks because this is the reason.

Tsk, so childish.

"Thank you... t-thank you for helping me from them. If you didn't help me, I might still be downstairs and bullied by them," Heejin repeated her thanks but this time looking at Yeonsuk.

Just imagining that she was still in that corridor and being bullied made her feel like thanking Yeonsuk wasn't enough. Because she felt grateful that Yeonsuk had come to help her.

Yeonsuk was silent with his eyes looking back at Heejin. "Do you know who I am?" asked Yeonsuk.

Heejin furrowed her brows. "You're also one of the students in this school right?" said Heejin.

That was the only thing Heejin knew from Yeonsuk. This was even her first meeting with Yeonsuk, she had never seen Yeonsuk before at this school.

Yeonsuk laughed. "Hahaha, you're funny. Do you want to be friends with me?"

Heejin was surprised. "Friends? You want to be friends with me?" said Heejin pointing to herself.

Yeonsuk nodded his head. "Yes, you want to be my friend?" asked Yeonsuk again.

Heejin didn't think that Yeonsuk wanted to be friends with her. Happy? Of course, she felt very happy right now because Yeonsuk wanted to be friends with her.

But Heejin suddenly remembered something...

"What if they're going to hate you because you're friends with me?" asked Heejin.

Even though it was her first time meeting Yeonsuk, Heejin can already see that it seems like Yeonsuk is a very popular student in their school, and what if Yeonsuk will be hated for being friends with her?

Heejin certainly didn't want that to happen.

Yeonsuk also knows that she is the most hated student in this school. But why does Yeonsuk want to be friends with her?

Yeonsuk laughed then wiped the distance between him and Heejin. Because Yeonsuk was now right beside her, Heejin tried to stay away but there was no longer any empty side of the couch left.

Yeonsuk turned his head. "They won't hate me and also I promise to protect you," said Yeonsuk looking at Heejin.

"You will protect me?" stuttered Heejin.

Yeonsuk nodded. "Yeah, I will protect you," Yeonsuk brings his face closer to Heejin. "Because I like you."

At that moment Heejin froze on the couch looking at Yeonsuk's face who was so close to her face and was smiling at her. That's when Heejin realized that she had fallen in love at first sight with the man who had helped her.

That is a handsome man who has become her savior named Yeonsuk Choi.
