Chereads / How To Break The Werewolf's Heart / Chapter 8 - The Strongest Alpha

Chapter 8 - The Strongest Alpha

"It seems you are not from the Seth Valley indeed."

Bella started to explain who Vincent was.

Everyone in Seth's valley should know who Vincent is. He was the strongest Alpha among the werewolf alphas—the Alpha of all Alphas.

Once a year on a full moon night in autumn the alphas will fight each other to determine who is the strongest. The winner will occupy the Great Castle for one year until the fight in the following fall. Only the strongest werewolf pack can occupy it.

Ever since his debut, Vincent is an alpha who has managed to win that battle for twelve seasons in a row. So far, no alpha from another pack has managed to beat him in battle.

He's a wonderful man. Handsome and charismatic. Before he met his partner there were many women who came to the castle to show their faces, hoping that they were the women who were destined for Vincent.

Even so, not a single woman appeared in Vincent's vision because they weren't the destined couple for Vincent.

"Then why did he suddenly want to kill me?" Alice cuts Bella's story about Vincent. She didn't care how many women wanted to be Vincent's partner. They all can't help him.

"Because you showed up at the wrong place and time."

"But it's not my fault. I also don't know why I could appear here." Alice should have gone back to Underland or maybe home?

Ah, her mind is starting to mess up again. Every time Alice tried to remember something she forgot the memory or image that should have been in her mind.

This is really dangerous. Alice was starting to fear that she would forget everything. She must quickly find someone who can help her get back to where she belongs before she forgets that place.

"I don't know… the storm of darkness yesterday afternoon was indeed strange. No one has been able to explain what really happened yesterday. Maybe something or someone brought you here and that person took the wrong woman."

"Eh, you mean the woman named Nessy?"

"You know… Nessy?" Bella became interested when Alice mentioned Renésmee's name like that. Only a handful of people would call Renésmee by nickname.

"I heard it from Vincent. He went on a rampage looking for that woman, said it was his mate and he kept on roaring that it was my fault."

"Oh, you can understand when he roars in his wolf form?" One more oddity that makes Bella even more interested in Alice. "Nessy is indeed his partner. Have you seen Nessy? Or do you know where she is now?"

That was the significant thing.

"Do you also think that I did something to Nessy?" Alice thought Bella trusted her. She was starting to fear that Bella would do something bad despite all the kindness she had done this morning.

"You can tell me the truth. If you really do something, that's fine. I'm not Nessy's partner. I won't roar or eat you because you did something to her."

In fact Bella didn't believe in Alice, she had no reason to believe in her or she really didn't need to believe anything Alice said.

"Believe me… I didn't do anything! I don't even know what Nessy looks like, I've never seen her."

"Is that so…" Alice seemed to be speaking truthfully. It seemed that Bella was expecting something from Alice or else she wouldn't have been this nice. But what did she expect it to be?

"Will Vincent still try to kill me?" Alice needed to know the answer to this one.

"Well, I wasn't the one trying to kill you." Bella found it funny because Alice asked her.

"But you know Vincent, you might know he'll change his mind or maybe you can help me explain to him that I'm innocent." Unconsciously Alice had placed her hopes on Bella. This woman will help her right? She's been so good.

"No, Alice, you must have misunderstood. Vincent won't listen to me no matter what I say because I'm not his mate. He would not listen to the advice of a woman other than Nessy. You must understand the definition of a mate for our people."

Alice didn't want to understand the definition of a mate. She has chosen a free life without a partner. She even called off her engagement, with whom it was, again the shards of her memory faded.

[ Yes, never mind, I don't need the man's name anymore. ]

What was more important now was how she could escape Vincent.

Alice suddenly couldn't think of anything. The axis in her brain is not connected. In fact, Alice seemed to be able to hear Vincent roar.

Uh, no, that's not Vincent's roar. It was the sound of his stomach.

"You hungry?" Bella can also hear Alice's stomach.

That's right, she hasn't eaten since yesterday. All her tension and curiosity had suppressed his hunger to this extent. Alice needed something to fill her stomach so her brain could work.

"Oh, sorry. I should have taken you to lunch a long time ago. Come with me."

Alice followed Bella back to the main castle to the dining room. Bella's hand led her all the way so when Bella suddenly stopped Alice stopped too.

"We have arrived?" she asked.

It looked like they were already in the dining room. Alice still hadn't noticed a man sitting at the end of the dining table until Bella bowed down to greet him.

[ It was the man who visited me last night. ]

Alice had a bad feeling when she saw it. If possible she wanted to turn around and run away from the man. Alice just realized that Bella was holding her tightly, preventing her from escaping.

Wait a minute! Alice still didn't know who the man was.

If that man was Vincent, he should have killed Alice last night. The man didn't try to kill her last night, scaring him a little but he didn't do anything. Maybe he wasn't Vincent.

Alice could pretend not to know that the man was the big bad wolf.

As Bella moved back toward the table, Alice moved along with a suppressed and concealed sense of dread. She has guts as big as a mountain, yes, she can take on men. There won't be any bloodshed this afternoon, will there?

Alice lifted her face, walking more upright and bold. She even looked Vincent in the eye. In an instant they looked at each other. Alice could see the man's sour face as he looked at her, as time went on his face became more and more wrinkled and deteriorating and the man suddenly retracted his gaze.

[ Hah, I won! ]

Alice seemed to have won this face-to-face competition.

Immediately the man groaned and held his head.

Bella, who had been holding Alice's hand tightly, suddenly let go of her. She was already one step ahead of Alice, looking more than ready to run but didn't. Bella refused to approach the man.

[ What is this? ]

Alice looked at the two in turn with curiosity.
