Chereads / How To Break The Werewolf's Heart / Chapter 9 - The Imprint

Chapter 9 - The Imprint

Vincent saw someone in his arms but it wasn't Renésmee and it made his head hurt until he couldn't hold it in and groaned.

Bella finally stepped forward after a while. She touched Vincent's arm and immediately pulled her hand back. Her fingers blistered as they touched Vincent's arm.

[ Did Vincent notice that his right hand was burning? ]

"Vincent, what's wrong with you? Are you okay?" Apparently Bella could touch Vincent's shoulder, but not with her arm.

Instead of answering, Vincent glanced at Alice who was standing far away once more and realized that the woman who appeared in his vision was the blonde woman. How did it happen?

Vincent tried to stand up. His intention was to reach Alice but his body had already staggered away. Luckily he was helped by Bella.

"I'll take you to your room. Come on…"

Bella ushered Vincent into his room so someone could check on his condition.

After Bella and Vincent left Alice was confused in the dining room. Should she follow them?

"Sit down and eat!" Someone appeared in the dining room.

Alice glanced at the man. He brought two plates of food and placed one on the table, pulled out a chair and motioned for Alice to sit down.

"You came here to eat, didn't you?"

"What about Bella and…" Alice didn't want to mention Vincent's name. She still wanted to pretend she didn't know who Vincent was.

"Sit down and eat while you can." The man took a chair across from the table, put down the plate and started eating.

Alice glanced at the food on the table. Can he eat while Bella and Vincent are away? Ah, her stomach was completely empty and started roaring again. It sounded even sadder than Vincent's roar.

Alice decided to sit down and eat. In an instant the piece of meat that was served to her was torn apart and decomposed in her stomach. Alice really appreciates her food.

[ Uh, can I get another portion? ]

Alice glanced at the man in front of her. Though the man had started eating earlier than her, he still had chunks of meat on his plate and continued to chew deliciously.

Meanwhile there was nothing left on Alice's plate.

[ Sigh! His portion was definitely more than mine. ]

The man caught her gaze. He knew Alice had finished her meal and had been staring at her plate all along. He probably knew that Alice wanted another portion, if any. But the man continued to eat without thinking about Alice's feelings.

[ Isn't there anything else to eat? ]

Alice can't even get an appetizer, at least she can maybe get some dessert? She glanced around the dining room. The room was large and there were plenty of empty chairs but only the two of them ate.

[ Where are the people? ]

[ Isn't there a waiter here or someone to ask for food? ]

Vincent's leftovers were still on the end of the table. The man left before finishing his meal. There were still a few pieces of meat and fruit on another plate.

What a shame that food, will Vincent eat it again later?

If not, can Alice get some of those fresh-looking fruit?

"Drink."

Alice was surprised when a cup was placed in front of her. Beside her was a strange man who fed her. Alice thought she was still enjoying her meal.

[ When did he go get this cup of drink? ]

Alice glanced into the silver goblet, examining it before drinking it. It's just plain water. Well, is not that Alice hoped it was a delicious beverage. She just didn't want to drink anything weird. Alice gulped down the water. She glanced at the stranger and thanked him.

"Your name?" the man suddenly asked. His voice was steady and firm, his words short, sounding more like he was giving orders than asking.

"Alice."

"My name is Jacob."

Oh, wait… Alice had heard that name before. Did Noah mention it or Vincent?

"Come with me."

Huh? Jacob had already moved ahead of Alice. I don't know where he will take Alice. Before chasing after Jacob, Alice glanced at the fruit at the end of the table one more time.

The pain in Vincent's head dissipated when he reached his room. Surprisingly now his heart even feels empty. Whereas before it felt very heavy because he did not know where Nessy was.

Bella returns after calling one of their pack members in charge of treatment.

"Big brother, what happened to you?"

"Watson, I'm all right." Vincent rejected the young man because he did not feel pain anymore.

Watson keeps an eye on Vincent to see if he has any injuries or symptoms. The werewolf doesn't really need a doctor. They had extraordinary recovery abilities, especially if the werewolf had developed their inner power to a certain extent.

As for teen-wolf or common werewolves, most of them still need certain care and a young man like Watson usually will concocted some potions to speed up their healing.

"Big brother… the imprint on your hand… they disappear?!"

Hearing Watson stammering, Vincent looked at his own hands and he was right. The imprint on his right hand had disappeared.

"It's in your left hand now!" cried Watson.

Vincent raised his left hand and the imprint was indeed on his left hand now. The ring tattoo-like mark encircling his ring finger and around his wrist should not be on the left but on the right. This is weird!

[ Did something happen to Nessy? ]

Vincent was even more amazed when he thought of Nessy. His heart didn't react. He didn't feel anything when he remembered that woman. It was as if someone had wiped out every emotion he had for Nessy. His heart felt empty.

Bella prevented Watson from saying anything else about the imprint on Vincent's hand suddenly moving. She had noticed it since he was in the dining room earlier. Bella watched as the imprint slowly faded from Vincent's arm.

The first things that came to her mind were fear and disbelief. She was afraid that something would happen to Vincent and then a feeling of joy overflowed unexpectedly. The imprint on Vincent's arm should relate to Renésmee.

The men of the werewolf faction would get an imprint on their left arm when they had visions of their lifelong partner. Then the sign will move to the right hand after they manage to get their mate and do the mating.

Vincent had just experienced the opposite. His imprint changed back to his left hand. It's as if Vincent hasn't managed to get his mate yet.

[ Could Renésmee be dead? ]

Bella didn't know if the imprint marks would disappear after the werewolf mate died but if that was the case… could there be any hope for her?

"Does your head still hurt or do you feel something else?"

"No." Vincent answered Bella coldly. He was still the usual Vincent.

"Big brother, do you feel something bad happened to sister Rene?" This time Bella didn't have time to stop Watson from opening his mouth.

Vincent fell silent after hearing the question. He absorbed it and tried to imagine something bad happening to Nessy. That woman might be somewhere and hurt or worst of all, she could be… gone forever.

Surprisingly all the shadows did not move his heart in the slightest.

Vincent always went crazy when he thought about it. He could always sense that Renésmee was in danger or that she was hurt, but right now he didn't feel anything. An even stranger thought occurred to him:

[ So what… if something happened to Renésmee? ]
