The Legendary Queen of Vampires sat on her throne, overseeing an empty throne room.
The silence was suffocating to her, the peace tormented her. She glanced out, sweeping her eyes across her Empire. It was a beautiful view.
And yet:
"How boring..."
So, with the queen's newfound boredom, she decided to create new magic. With this thought, she realized she was either out of ideas or not interested enough.
While thinking for some time, she summoned all the vampires in her country and ask them for their ideas.
But, to give the illusion that she wasn't bored, she decided to announce an event to the vampires.
Meanwhile, young Alasdair belonged to a family of normal vampires with no one that had reached the rank of even a vampire noble. Just an hour ago, the Queen's announcement of an event had reached their village.
Every vampire in the country had to attend this event. The preparations, in his village, began in full swing.
"Alasdair! Alasdair! Come, help mom decide what dress to wear!" He heard his mom's excited voice who was shouting from the door of their wooden house.
He responded with a loud but sweet voice:
"Coming, Mom!" As he ran inside the house from the field where he was playing with some ants and beetles.
As he entered the house after his mother, he found her sitting on the chair with clothes spread across the floor bed.
"Come here, come here… Help me choose clothes for myself and yourself sweetie!"
His mom looked at him with starry eyes. She seemed even more excited than him and had Alasdair wondering which one of them was the child in this situation.
"Mom, I will wear this black one. You choose that bisque one. They are the best clothes we have," He said, sighing, as he helped his mom choose clothes for the event.
It took them two hours to decide which one, they were anxious and excited to look their best for the Queen.
When his father returned from his job as a blacksmith this evening, they were all packed and ready to go. But the carriage was to leave tomorrow morning.
They had to sleep for the night and leave early in the morning, but they were so excited for the event that they had trouble going to sleep.
Alasdair had a very awesome dream that he met the queen and got her autograph. He was so excited that he could only sleep 3 hours, already past midnight.
The next day, they left for the event that would happen in 7 days. Carriages were fast enough to reach 2 days earlier than the expected date.
In the morning, after getting ready, Alasdair went to wake his Mom and Dad. Today was a rare day for him to wake up before his mom.
He and his Dad had already awakened and prepared breakfast, the smell of which wafted inside the house.
"Sweetie. what have you cooked today?" His mom asked after getting ready and saw them in the kitchen as she came down the stairs.
"Mom, just go take your seat! I will bring it!" Alasdair offered.
After they had their breakfast, they packed some of it, changed their clothes, and went for the carriages to continue their travels.
There were more carriages like theirs that followed suit. Almost the whole village was present.
The knights assigned them carriages. They had brought these army carriages, together with the announcement.
It took them a total of 6 days to reach the capital. They were attacked by monsters on the way 3 times, but Alasdair saw the great Uncle knights beat them easily.
The capital was packed to the brim because every vampire was here for the event tomorrow. Everyone was excited to meet the queen, as she was not only their queen but, also a hero.
Alasdair's parents said she liberated us from demons' rule. She was the idol of every vampire.
He couldn't wait for tomorrow.
They booked an inn to sleep in till tomorrow and enjoyed the view of the capital and finally it was the next day.
They got prepared and waited until they were escorted to leave for the castle itself. He had heard the general had very meticulous arrangements and everyone reached the venue without an incident.
They entered the castle, and to Alasdair's amazement, it was big enough to hold all citizens of the entire kingdom and we had a lot freer space than in the capital here.
The castle was as grand as you could imagine walls made up of Magic crystals and decorated with magic inscriptions. And even better was the fact that even though the castle was bright at this time of the day, Alasdair couldn't feel the same weakness we feel during the daytime when the sun was up.
Then, they heard the Queen's booming voice:
"Among all present... I, Victoria Crimsonlake, am going to choose one young vampire!"
"My army and I will personally train the chosen to be our next leader!"
"To Become the chosen one, you must entertain me with an idea for a new magic spell!"
This announcement sent waves of excitement in the hearts of all young and old vampires as this opportunity was considered the highest honor.
So, one by one, every vampire came to the throne and gave their suggestions directly to the queen. Some of the suggested spells were already undergoing research by their research facilities, whereas some were new and unique.
However, nothing seemed to pique her interest. Which made her feel angrier with each successive suggestion. However, she had decided to punish no one today.
Sometimes she made spells on the spot and gifted them to the one who suggested the spell, those who wanted skills were gifted with new skills.
Some who requested already existing spells or skills were sent to the royal library.
As the event was progressing, the young boy skipped the line earning the wrath of those in the queue. While the onlookers expected him to be punished.
Unexpectedly, the queen was intrigued by him and allowed him to speak:
"I want a spell too!", Shouted Alasdair with excitement and starry eyes.
"My child, state what is it that you desire?" The queen asked while grinning.
"A spell that can Create new blood... tastier than that of a human."
Suddenly she felt like the mist covering her vision had been cleared and the doorway to new possibilities was open.
Although, she had made spells to replace hunting for blood non of them were practical enough to replace feeding on blood. Each Spell had less than the desired effect.
Fine for emergency use but not enough to replace food source.
This intrigued the Queen. A spell to create new blood and it had to be tastier than human blood at that.
That would solve the problem of needing blood as well as its taste. She thought it was about time to create it, and she couldn't make it on the spot.
And so, she decided this child would be the chosen one.
"Young child! You have managed to amuse this queen: Your spell not only opens the door to new possibilities but also solves our racial issue!"
"EVENT IS NOW OVER, EVERYONE CAN LEAVE AFTER THE BANQUET!
AND PARENTS OF THIS CHILD MUST COME TO ME AFTER THE BANQUET!"
Banquet went on for a few hours. After that, she met the kid's parents and told them to stay in the castle with their son. Of course, she did not restrict them from leaving as well.
She arranged for the General to train Alasdair according to her guidelines. She went off to research the spell.
Like this, days became months and months became years. She only came out of the research lab once or twice a year and later even that was forgotten. Her research went on for more than 300 years.
Then, she finally succeeded.
She finally had made the spell that can create blood and it's tastier than that of a human. And the spell can be used by even a 3-year-old vampire's Mana.
"Deliciou..."
At the same time an old spell scroll of hers had activated, cause of a reason unknown.
Was it an accident or a scheme? She does not, and cannot know anymore. Because that spell ended up annihilating not only her, but her castle, and a 10-meter radius around it as well.
It was as if the area never existed there; everything was erased.
Darkness. So much darkness.
At first, she got excited that she survived her deadliest scroll. But trying to get up using her powers, she found out she could not do anything.
Also, she realized she could not see in this darkness. Even as a vampire like her. How odd.
"...Am I dead? Just after creating the greatest masterpiece of my life…... It's not fair."
"But I will not cry. I'll walk till I find a way out of here…. Yes, a way out.".
So, she started walking in a random direction. It's unknown how long she walked, as the darkness has now started giving her the creeps, as well as thoughts like:
"...Does it have no end or am I walking in the wrong direction?"
"...No, I have to keep determined as I always have even if it doesn't have an end."
"I'll leave it no choice but to create one!".
So, she kept walking and walking. It's unknown when her vision caught a shining object in the distance.
Weirdly enough this was comforting instead of annoying like any usual light, coming closer she found it to be a pearl.
The pearl had been floating here for an unknown time, but one thing is certain.
This is the only thing that is shining in the darkness.
She decided to take the pearl to light the way so she can see. She reached out to take it…
But as she touched it, she experienced a shock, an extremely violent one had just gone through her and it went dark again as she lost consciousness.
