The door was pulled open before my boss even knocked, like the person who was opposite the door spent his life's training sensing the foot-steps and foot-patterns of the rich.
Emeka pushed himself in and I followed absolutely having no clue whatsoever on what to do.
Were they sitting arrangements?, If I sat on someones chair would they make a fool out of me and tell me I was sitted on their chair?, would they laugh with their friends after wards about the poor boy who was on their seat?.
Would they?.
The conference room was already full, there was an abnormally long table in the center, and each side consisted of ten people and the two opposite smaller sides of the table were obviously reserved for Emeka and Anastasia. Even their chairs were different from everyone elses and honestly as much as I did not want to think of that I found myself continously wondering how much the arm of the chair alone will be.
A hundred and something per say.
I was so caught up in my own thoughts I barely even realised that everyone was looking at me.
Probably scanning the new face in the room, wondering how I became part of them.
Wheeew Lindon way too far.
"Sit down", my boss ordered.
I picked my feet up and walked to the nearest chair and it was empty and just like I had assumed there was a name inprinted in silver on the desk.
It read : Leen Dabostry.
I ran my fingers along the printing trying to picture this Leen into rememberance, it was a waste of my time I had never heard of such a name in life.
What on earth was Dabostry?.
"Good morning", Emeka greeted his workers straightening out that pitch black suit of his.
"We have a new worker that would be joining us for all conference meetings, may you all give a round of applause to Lindon Landford".
New worker?.
I'd been working here for a full year.
I truly did not know what to do when they started clapping so I just classically raised my hand and dropped it so they atleast knew who he was referring to.
He begun with the speech and I could not help but watch in admiration.
I wished one day that I would be in front of the table eruditing people of higher standards, but right now from the looks of it, I was at the very bottom of the hierachy.
My eyes could not help sweeping over the people in the room, dressed in Louis Vuiton, Channel, glistering jewellery around their necks, ears and wrists and here I was in a plain suit I got from Beard.
What really did catch my eye was Anastasia when she walked in late by approximately eight minutes if I had been timing right.
Her dress was plain red, it swept the floor as she walked, one slender leg after the other exposed its self through the slit that crawled up to her thigh, Anastasia's heels were absolutely colourless and from the position I was sitting I could tell her toe nails were painted red. She had a fat chain on her neck and her hair fell completely straight uptil her back.
"She looks amazing", the man next to me whispered to the other next to him.
I found it very inappropriate that he was commenting on the bosses wife. Although she did look absolutely stunning, this Mr-, I took a peer at the silver plack infront of him, this Mr Evergreen had no right to say that when The Boss was so close.
"I am so sorry I am late", her voice echoed through the conference room.
Emeka was clearly unfazed by her lack of punctuality and greeted her with a smile before continuing with his speech.
The speech was short and simple just like I had prepared it.
Was I giving myself too much credit?.
Well why not?.
Everyone clapped and I joined in.
"Anastasia, be a darling and call out the announcements", Her husband asked her.
Announcements?.
She got up and gave us the announcements and I began to doze off, they were so many and I was already tired of being seated.
As much as I wanted to seem and act matute my teenage hormones did kick in somewhere. One that could inevitably not be avoided.
As soon as she was done Emeka dismissed everyone and I got up from my seat refraining from yawning.
Would this Leen Dabostry come tomorrow?, I certainly hope not.
Infact was there a conference meeting everyday?.
Bronze was outside of the room when the guard opened it for me.
He arched a brow at me.
"Have you gotten your self fired?".
I rolled my eyes which I wish I could have taken back because that was way to female-ish but still that was literally the best reaction my body could come up with.
"Now how would I do that?".
He averted his gaze from me and I almost catapulted myself into the roof as a hand was placed on my shoulder.
Instinct was to smack it away because heaven knew how much I hated physical contact, but the feminine scent reminded me of someone.
I turned back and Anastasia's grey eyes shined on me in amusement.
"My husband just told me you wrote his speech last minute, Geez you are a sweetheart".
I blushed as a grin replaced the blunt expression Bronze applied on my face everytime I saw him. "You are welcome ma'am".
"Mr. Bronze", She acknowledged his presence.
I took it as my cue to leave and rushed back to my office.
Ricky immediately looked up from his laptop.
"The weather is quite pleasant today Lindy, what's your reason this time?".
"Hello Ricky, the weather is warm but chilly and not particulary my version of pleasant, what's my reason for what exactly and for the last time do not call me Lindy!".
"For being late".
I chuckled, "I was here a long time ago".
He scoffed "I don't believe you".
I shrugged "Suit yourself Ricky it's your opinion after all".
Taking my seat I grinned. I could not wait to get home and tell Beard and my Mother about everything. I was way too excited to wait.
A small part of me told me that I could infact tell Ricky and go all excited on him, but I felt that, that would give off vulnerability and I would get used to that which would then lead to attachment and worst of all maybe a friendship. So for the love of myself I left Ricky in peace and counted the hours till I knocked off.
