Sunday had always been that one day of the week that I dreaded. Especially after getting into a fight with my mother, the whole day, we would have to tolerate eachother.
I personally am not ready to talk to her.
Don't want to actually.
I walked out of my room to take a shower, it had grown into a habit since I showered for work everyday and it just felt odd if I didn't.
I involuntarily yawned, once inside the bathroom I noticed that my hair was still gelled from yesterday.
My hand made its way to it and I shivered at the feeling.
"Gross"
I need to wash this off.
After the shower I walked into the kitchen to make something for us to eat.
Mother had already made instant noodles and boiled eggs.
Acting like I had entered the kitchen for a different reason completely I went straight for the faucet.
"Morning", I grumbled.
She replied with a groan.
I grabbed a glass from the cabinet and filled it with water, gulping it all down and putting it on the dish rack.
I did not like the tone of her groan.
"Wash your glass", she told me as I walked away.
I stared at her with a look of boredom and went back and washed it and turned around to leave.
"Come eat your food".
"'M not hungry".
She threw her fork onto the floor "I said!, come and eat your food".
I obediently walked to the table and picked up a fork and began to eat.
I was hungry so in seconds I had grovelled down the meal.
"About yesterday, I am sorry", she started and I cut her off.
"You don't have to be, you were honest and that is perfectly fine with me, I value your honesty".
"Yes but it is stupid, I was being a fool 'imbecile' to be exact, and I am not stupid son, last night I got my priorities straight and I love you more, the one who carried me through life, you have been more of a mother to me than I have been to you and I love you more than anything Lindon you are my world, my sunshine and my heart beat".
My eyes became watery.
"I love you okay", she got up to hold me at arms length.
"I love you too".
I grinned.
"And your manager called yelling, I yelled back I think you should call him back".
"Bronze?".
"Yes him".
"Okay mom".
I let go of her and went for the her phone.
Her pattern to open her phone was a simple L.
I dialled Bronze's number and he answered on the first ring like he had been waiting for me to call him back ever since he did.
"Mr Bronze".
"I am going through the weeks projects and you have not submitted yours, Where is it Landford!".
"It is at the office, I was at the conference meeting the day they were submitted. I guess Ricky did not turn in mine".
That selfish bafoon!.
"Well I expect you to come and submit it to me now!".
"Geez okay".
I cut the call before he could do it.
"Mom I have to go to work!".
"Okay how long will you take?".
"I have no idea but I might go to Beards for a while".
"Okay my sweet".
I rushed to my room and changed.
And took enough money for a taxi because I was in no state of walking to work.
Once I was there, I entered my office and grabbed the project from under the table.
I knocked at Bronze's door and he told me to come in.
"Good morning sir".
"Morning", he replied.
Putting the project on the table I began to walk out and leave.
"What is your take on night school?".
I frowned at the random topic "I think it would be better for most students to do night school because others have to balance both work and school whilst others have a hard time learning in the presence of others and simply many people enjoy learning at night. It's weird and it is nice".
"Have you ever done it?".
"No I left school awhile ago, anyway what is the point of this sir?".
He looked stressed like being a manager could be stressing.
He sure as hell did not appreciate his job.
"There are now too many people in the company and we need to expand and renovate, work becomes crowded during the day and less work is done than expected. It is one of the morals of the company and when morals are not followed it is my fault".
"Uhhhhh-".
"So I need to think of something ASAP".
"So you are suggesting night work?".
He nodded his head in doubt.
"I mean that is the best I've got".
I shrugged "I'm down for it".
He stood up and grinned "You mean it".
"I have never lied to you".
He nodded and brought me into a tight hug.
I gently peeled myself from him "Let us keep this professional".
He nodded and I walked out after telling him to have a great sunday.
I stomped my foot Beard was still far so I sat on a nearby bench.
Was what mom said true?.
Even if it was, I knew that she still wanted to see him. Talk to him.
She needed the closure.
So did I, or atleast a small bit of me, I could spend the rest of my life without seeing him.
That was the reason I stood and started walking in the direction of his house.
Every birthday of mine he would send me an email with his address and I figured that this was the perfect moment to go there.
I did not particulary know what I was going to say, I just knew I was going to show up at his door at random.
He had a mahogany door and it had a huge knocker on it.
I lifted it up and banged it against the door twice.
"Who is it?".
I remained silent and knocked again.
"Who is it?".
Silence.
Footsteps approached the door and I gulped as it was pulled open and my father came into view.
"Lindon?".
"Lewis".
