Just like Diamond Beard had said, I was up an hour earlier than usual and was dressed in my best button up shirt with matching slacks neatly pressed by the iron that burnt me multiple times. I had felt like a toddler ironing his shirt for his first day of high school constantly squealing as the iron burnt me. I looked at myself through the small face powder mirror my mother had, I looked different. I couldn't say a good type of different because I never made an effort on my looks this much. Like never ever. I felt as if it's for people who have the money, and I for one did not and drastically stuck to my standards. Otherwise I'd just be walking around looking like a fake piece of trash, but like Diamond said "catch an eye".
I honestly couldn't believe I was going along with this but everything was worth a try so I picked up my briefcase and walked out of my house.
Geez I sounded like a motivational speaker.
In minutes I was outside of the company and to my suprise White wasn't even yet at the door. I grinned mentally and physically stepping through the slightly ajar door with confidence before silently strolling to the mens room.
Inside I did not do much as per usual, I just straightened my colar and waltzed to the office I looked at the small clock and was amazed to see that I had arrived at work the time i woke up everyday.
I was a little bit proud of myself. Who was I kidding I was excited.
Right now I'd probably just have opened my windows.
I took a long exhale the euphoria that came with the thought that I'd have some quality time before Ricky arrived was soothing.
Being completely honest I had no exact idea why I hated Ricky so much, sure he was irritating but his vibe just did not and would never go along with mine. Its wrong how I always snap at him when he gets atleast two feet close to me, but I can't bring myself to trust his oversized self. Ricky is the type of person who'll sabotage you to get to the top in any way possible but still smile in your face every single day and that type of person was and would never be for me.
My project for the week was to be submitted today and the weeks after had already been done so after I submitted mine at eight oclock I could begin on the next, but for now I was just going to be seated in my chair for three hours reading a novel.
After two good chapters in utter silence I heard doors in a row being opened and slammed someone complaining with each step till the door of my office flew open.
"Great somebody atleast, get yourself over here boy".
Pitch black Tuxedo with a blazing red bow tie, coupled with the finest white button up shirt I had ever seen with the strongest Gucci perfume that diffused from the door where he stood to my seat and immediately I felt under dressed.
His hair was cut into an impeccable fade and the tips gelled to curl, he was musculine and was bigger than most of his bouncers, strangely he wore a pair of nerds which instead of giving off a nerdish aura it ordered authority and I stopped myself from making a bow like I had been presented before a king.
And that king was none other than my boss.
Emeka.
Would It be awkward if i bowed?.
Yes it would.
Would It?
"Did you hear what I just said?", he asked his eyebrow lifting with question.
I scattered the papers on my desk for no apparent reason before scrambling to my feet and walking up to him, I was slightly taller than him but looked completely little compared to him.
"Does everyone normally come late? I told Bronze that I'd be here early and absolutely no one is here and I don't have my speech yet and I can't begin to write another one", he raised his hand as if to run his hand through his hair but quickly pulled his hand away from his million dollar hair cut.
I stared at him with my eyes wide open.
"I'm sorry sir", I told him not knowing anything else to say.
He nodded and told me there was nothing to be sorry about before ordering me to his office complaining about the time people arrived at work.
I was silent the whole way and had no intention of badmouthing my co-workers because I knew I had come late more than anyone had ever in this entire company. White could vouch for me.
Upon entering the office I was stunned at how prestige and breathe-taking it was, you could say that it was in a different building compared to the one I walked into everyday.
"How old are you?", My boss asked.
"Sixteen", I replied him.
He was shocked and I couldn't see why he would be "You're very young", he stated the obvious. I hated being called young I was bound to be compared to the old people in the company.
"Interesting", he said after I nodded at him "Now I hope you are good with writing".
"I am", I failed to see how writing applied to anything.
Emeka walked to the mirror to straighten out his tie "There is a table there with, papers and pens or you could use the Ipad just find something and write me a short speech on the importance of advertisement".
"Pardon me sir".
"You heard me boy now chop chop", he ennunciated his words with, the clapping of his hands.
I reached for the iPad and immediately started writing not fascinated by the idea one bit.
What if he didn't like it or something?.
Or thought it was too poor and that Bronze had hired an illeterate maniac.
What if I got fired because of this?.
I typed the first things the flew into my mind and handed him the iPad.
My eyes nervously racked over his frame as he went over it and he looked up at me and smiled.
"This is better than my first one".
I just smiled and watched as the door was pulled open and the receptionist poured her self inside.
"Good morning, you are needed in the conference room", she told our boss giving an irritated glance at me.
What in hell was that for?.
Emeka turned over to me and nodded towards the door.
I walked outside ready to go back to my office and give Ricky a 'guess who got here first look'.
"Ay sport", Emeka called when he noticed I was turning the corner.
"Yes?".
"You're coming to the conference meeting. Let's go".
What!!!!!!?.
My feet wobbled and all of a sudden imaginatory hurdles popped up and I continuosly tripped over my feet as what I thought was the bettering of my day reached its climax.
"Oh and by the way", my boss turned backwards "I love the posture and walk it shows confidence and the suit really brings it out".
"Thank you sir", I bit the inside of my cheek to avoid bursting out into a ridiculous grin that even the devil would not be able to wipe off.
