Over at Hazel, she got out of the bathroom and got dressed in a light garment that would be comfortable enough to sleep in. Over the past few days that she had spent here, they have finally been able to get her measurements and her liking.
She no longer has to try to make herself fit into clothes that are either too big or too small. Everything fits perfectly now. She stared at her reflection in the mirror and her mind went back to a few minutes ago when Arzaan was still inside the room. Was he going to spend the night with her if she hadn't asked him to leave? She wondered.
"He must have been joking," she said to herself even after remembering all that he said. She hadn't allowed herself to accept him completely yet and she was not sure when that time would come. She was yet to know what creature he was while he knew all that was necessary to be known about her.
Thinking of what creature he was, she remembered Idril's words, "Ask him," he had said this to her. Would he tell her if she was to ask?
To think of it now, she hadn't spoken to Arzaan as much as she had spoken to Idril, yet she was supposed to be his mate. He must have been angry that she spent more time with another person than him. No wonder he said he would stay with her.
A knock on the door drew her attention to it. After a few seconds, the door opened and a maid appeared at the entrance. "Dinner is ready, My queen," the maid said and Hazel's expression changed.
It was because of the way she had addressed her. She was used to having Arzaan and Idril address her that way but not the others. Little did she know that being taken to the Great Hall during the meeting of the Arcadian Council by Arzaan was all that was needed for all to know her place beside their king.
She wanted to tell her not to address her as 'Queen' but seeing the respectful stance of the maid and the fact that she had her head bowed made her hold her tongue. Maybe Arzaan had ordered them to address her as such. She thought.
"Mhm, lead the way," she said.
"Yes, My Queen," the maid said and stepped aside waiting for her to go through before her.
Getting to the dining room, She found the king already seated and seemed to be writing for her. He smiled when he saw her and she gave him an awkward smile. He ran his gaze over her and smiled inwardly. The dress she wore may be simple, but it was made of the finest silk and fitted her body, outlining her features and accentuating her curves. She was probably unaware of this.
"I would like to discuss with you a thing of importance," he said when she was seated and the dishes were being served.
When she first came, she didn't think that the meals here would be similar to that of her world but they surprisingly were. They looked similar too with a slight difference and so was the taste. So she had no difficulty eating.
She looked at him skeptically without saying a word and he was left with no choice but to speak future.
"It's nothing too serious, you don't have to worry," he assured her.
"Okay," she said and they began having dinner in silence.
He would often look at her but she kept her gaze down as if afraid to meet his even though she knew his eyes were on her. He knew she could feel it and it hurt knowing that she was intentionally keeping her head down and focused on the plate of food in front of her.
After dinner, Arzaan was the first to stand and stretch his arm to her. She hesitated for a moment but she placed her plan on his palm a second later and he helped her up.
"Walk with me," he said and she nodded. This was the second time that he had asked her for a walk. She remembered their walk down the garden, the flowers, the fairies, and the maze, it was beautiful. It made her wonder where he would be taking her this time. "I would like to show you something, Hazel, I hope you don't mind?" he asked.
She shook her head but she asked, "You wanted to discuss something?"
"It is related, My Queen, you will understand better if you see what I would show you," he replied and she just nodded. "You are tense," he stated and her foot paused in the air for a second before touching the ground. He slowed down a she did not fall. "You know you don't have to fear me or be fearful around me," he said and stopped.
He moved to stand in front of her raised her hand to his lips and planted a kiss on the back of her palm. "I need you to trust me," he said staring into her eyes warmly. "Something bothers you," he said, seeing the look of hesitation in her eyes.
She looked away and lifted her chin gently so she could look at him. "Say to me whatever it is that bothers you, don't keep to yourself,"
"Will you be upset?" she asked and shook his head.
"Never," he said, making sure she did not misunderstand him.
"Okay," she said and gave a small smile. "Later, after what you want to show me," there were many questions in her mind that he needed answers to. Questions like, what was he? Why did she end up here if people from her world were not supposed to cross over? Why was it she out of all the population on earth that could cross? These and more. And she could not ask Idril because he would just refer her back to her mate.
They soon arrived inner part of the castle where the history of the humans along with the war was and the two guards that were left standing there from earlier opened the door. "We are here, My Queen," he informed her, and she craned her next trying to see what was inside that he wanted to show her. "Let us go in,"
