Chapter 22 - Is that a mage I sense?

Hazel turned around and was surprised to see the dryad rha she only got the chance to see twice. The first was on her first day here and the second meeting was in the great hall. She wondered what she was doing here all of a sudden. Subconsciously, her demeanor changed and the curious and excited look was gone, she was being guarded because she didn't want to be looked down upon even though Evergreen hadn't done anything that would arouse her guard.

She didn't know if Evergreen was against her standing beside Arzaan as his queen or not but she didn't want to be taken by surprise. Anything was possible with people one would never know what was in their minds until it was let known.

While on the other hand, she could feel Sage's gaze and it was filled with resentment. Or was it jealousy? She could quite put a finger on it. She didn't know what she had to get her to resent her or feel jealous of her but she had only seen her a few times and they barely spoke a word to each.

"Your Majesties," All three of them said with a bow of their heads when they came to stand a few feet away from them.

"Lord Idril, Lady Sage, and Lady Evergreen," Hazel said, giving a small vow to them as well while Arzaa just nodded.

He did not like their presence there, not in the least. He knew why Idril had come but what about the others? They had no reason to here. "Why are you here?" He asked moving his gaze between Sage and Evergreen.

Having the question thrown at them, they gave a small bow and Evergreen replied, "Olivia found something besides the Lightriver and I believe it belongs… her majesty, so I have brought it here for her," Evergreen said and Arzaan nodded but Hazel frowned. What could it be that would most likely be hers?

"I have come to report for the investigation, My king," Sage said and Arzaan frowned that there was not a good reason to come down here. She could have done that later when he was in mood to deal with the kingdom's affairs and not coming here, at a timeline just because she wanted to give a report.

Even Idril found it ridiculous and unbelievable that she would like to give a report. The reports were always given and reported in the great hall if the king deemed to be known by his subjects or inside the king's study where he was alone and dealing with such matters.

"Why do you think I would like to hear a report here?" Arzaan asked and Sage became flushed and embarrassed.

Meanwhile, Evergreen had turned a deaf ear to what was going on and now surveying the place, she remembered this place very well, though the memories that their place evoked in her were not the best, but she could not pretend to not recognize it. Her eyes went to the cracked crystal orb and then to the broken one and a small form appeased her face. That shouldn't happen. The crystal orb was made to not be broken by external forces. If you try attacking it just to break it, there will be a rebound. No matter how strong you were, hit it and it will hit you right back.

She felt a strong and powerful aura, though it was different from those she was known to, it was still very familiar and she thought that maybe the king was doing something in here having felt his presence while coming but from the looks of it, that was not the case. He was protecting his mate. That was the only evidence she needed to know that the human was not as simple as she looked, there was more to her.

She was tempted to ask what happened but then she realized that the air and atmosphere right now did not require her to butt in so she remained silent, her curiosity can be sated later. Who would have thought that being forced and pushed by the tantrums of Olivia would lead her to such discovery?

"Lady Sage," Idril called, drawing closer to stand beside her. He knew why she was acting like this, coming to her to do this when she knew how things were done in the kingdom and in the castle. "Why don't we leave that that could be handled later, as we all can see, the King and queen are busy with something else at the moment and don't need to be bothered by other things,"

Sage sent a silent glare at him but he smiled at her. She then looked at Arzaan and then at the human beside him, he was still mad at her. She shouldn't have made such a mistake but when she learned that he was in here alone with her, she could not help. "Pardon me, Your Majesties," she said with a bow, "I will take my leave now,"

He said nothing and knew he wouldn't be saying a word to her now that he was still angry. Without another word, she left them. Hazel wanted to feel bad but after remembering the look she got for no reason at all, she couldn't find it in her pity. So she stayed silent and watched her leave while Idril lightly shook his head. It was her fault for not listening to him. Even while they were coming here, he had asked her what the reason was for wanting to see the king but the woman chose to ignore him.

"Your Majesty," Evergreen called. Since it was all over, she didn't need to wait again to ask her question and get her curiosity cleared. She was the type that didn't care what was happening around her as long as it did not affect her and her people. The affairs of Sage had nothing to do with her. "The orbs… if I may ask, how did they…"

The smile from idril silenced her. She was aware that he would know what was happening already and it was why he was the only one who knew the king's whereabouts even when it was almost bedtime.

"Is that a mage I sense?" Another voice echoed in the hall even before her body materialized to be seen
