Chapter 27 - Night in the Dark Lands 1

Instead of going back to the room, Arzaan stopped and walked out to the balcony where he spread his wings, launching into the air and heading in the direction he had been staring. He should have known that it was Duran who would be daring enough to show up where he was without fear.

There were many others like him but none was as daring as him. He was different since he was exactly like Idril. When they were both born, it caused panic for the elves. Though the dark elves existed as opposite to the others, none was like Duran and Idril. They were special. This caused fear and panic in elves when this was discovered.

The dark Elves were few which was a good thing. But the birth of one of them being a counterpart with a high elf threw the realm into uncertainties, if more like that were born, then the darkness would not be far from returning to the realm.

Arzaan came to a halt hovering over the spot he stood while sealing the cracks. A frown found its way to his face as he stared at it. He couldn't see it but he could feel the darkness in the air. It lingered there though very light and only those with a high sense of light or darkness magic would be able to sense it, it was still there.

He retracted his wings and landed on the ground. The grasses around the spit where he felt the darkness coming from had withered and turned to dust, leaving just the soil to be seen. He bent and touched the ground and a force struck his hand coming from the ground.

Retracting his hand, he stared at it and saw a dark circle on it. Using the other hand, he rubbed on it to clean it but it wouldn't wipe off, he then shut his eyes and a blue flame appeared on his palm, disappearing a moment later along with the dark circle. If he was not sure before what that was, he was now.

"Luna," he called with his eyes closed. He didn't move from where he was or change his position, it was as if he was tracing the energy. "Drabor," he called again. He would have called Idril but he said something was wrong in the Elven territory that needed his attention. He was not sure if he was done yet. "Sage," he called her instead, and finally, he called, "Mother Celeste," this would do for now. If anything went wrong again, he would call the others.

He didn't call Evergreen because she would mostly be helping Olivia with Duran and that creature. If Idril told Olivia that Duran was not alone, she would ask Evergreen for help.

A few minutes later, The hooves of the Centaur Luna could be heard and from the sound of it, he was not alone. They were standing before him in a matter of seconds and he finally stood up.

"Your Majesty," they said together.

"Luna," Arzaan called the name of the female centaur. Luna was the leader of the centaurs while Killian was the general of their army. He was strong and dependable but she was better for this purpose.

"Yes, Your Majesty,"

"You know why you have been summoned?" he asked and nodded her head.

"I do, Your Majesty," she replied staring at the place where he stood. "You may return Killian," she said, dismissing him. If anything goes wrong, he would most likely be hurt more than her, and she didn't want that.

"We shall wait for the others," Arzaan said and turned to look at the castle up above them. He wondered how it was possible that even after he had sealed it, the darkness still managed to leak. It shouldn't be possible unless there is an external force acting upon it. His mind went to Hazel who was sleeping alone when he should be there with her. Was it her the darkness was attracted to? He was not sure.

He had to make her go to Queen Celeste. If there was any chance that it was indeed her that it was attracted to, then it was best she mastered light before darkness and there was no one better than Queen Celeste as her teacher. It was good that he didn't have to try to persuade her since she had offered to teach her all on her own.

Queen Celeste was the next person to appear and she immediately jumped back from where she stood to standing a few feet behind Arzaan.

"Goodness," she muttered staring at where Arzaan stood. Being the Queen of light, such darkness could not escape her notice. She would have a stronger reaction to it than anyone else.

"Thank you for coming," Arzaan said but he didn't move from where he stood. She only gave him a nod and returned her gaze to the ground. She loved to have him leave there but she knew he knew what he was doing. She then gave a glance at the center who barely leaves her home for any reason, unless the king called upon her. They gave each other a respectful nod without saying a word.

"Your Majesty, you called," the voice of Sage was heard beside Luna and they turned to look at her. She didn't know why they were back here but seeing Celeste there, she knew something was up.

"Wait until Drabor gets here," Arzaan said. He didn't want to rush it though the night was no longer young and morning would soon be upon them, it was best to take it easy.

"Understood," she replied.

Drabor arrived flapping his wings behind him with a look of annoyance. He was resting when he received the king's summon which he could not ignore. He had not forgotten almost being killed by him yet, he had to come out because the same person wanted him to.

"You summoned me, My king," he said, trying not to sound disrespectful. He looked around and saw the two female creatures who hated being disturbed the most and realized that it was something big. Whatever it was, he still thought it could have waited until sunrise. "How may I be of help?" he asked despite what he thought.
