Chereads / The Dragon King's Mate / Chapter 20 - Hamadi Zesiro

Chapter 20 - Hamadi Zesiro

Hazel was amazed at the beautiful interior. This whole castle was beautiful but it ceases to amaze her every time she visits a different part of it. The paintings on the wall were beautiful, they almost looked alive.

"Where is this?" she asked. Her eyes roamed around the hall. They walked untilntheuddle where she slowed down her pace and stared intently at the image of a particular man. He looked familiar but she could not quite put a finger on it.

"This is where the history between our people and the human race is kept, preserved for centuries," Arzaan replied.

"You brought me here to show this to me?" she asked not sure how to react to that. From what she could see so far, there were no humans in any of those paintings. Everyone there used magic and she didn't remember humans being able to do that except a few humans who called themselves shamans and she had never believed in that sort of thing.

"Yes, and something else," He moved closer to where she stood, they were standing under the same painting. "This is a human," he said and her head snapped around to look at him, not believing what he was saying. "A mage," he said, knowing why she stared at him that way. Idril had told him that magic no longer existed where she came from.

Though he found it hard to believe, it explained why her powers remained dormant, untapped, and unknown to her. If humans still practiced their magic, she would be at the top of her game based on the amount of pure energy coursing through her.

"We don't have magic in our world…" she stopped when he smiled at her.

"I have been informed of this," he brushed her hair with his fingers. "That is why I have brought you here, to show this to you and tell you who you are or should have been," he looked at her and then back at the man in the painting, and he frowned. There was a bit of resemblance between them. Barely noticeable, but it was there, maybe due to generational changes. "Do you find him familiar?" he asked to be sure of what he was thinking.

"I thought he was familiar but there is no way I would know him," she said and that was all he needed to confirm their relationship.

This was both good and bad. He thought.

"Tell me, My Love, what is your family name?" he asked. If the name matches, even she won't be able to deny it without having to see and guess herself.

"Hamadi," she replied even though she did not know why he was asking her for that now. They had never spoken so deeply before that they would be asking each other's family names.

Arzaan smiled and nodded. "It is as we thought," he said, referring to himself and Idril. "This is Hamadi Zesiro, the most powerful mage that ever existed in Arcadia," he said.

Hazel took a step back upon hearing that name. It was true that she had heard that name from her mother in the past. It could not be a coincidence or could it?

"Do not fear, this is a good thing, "He said, closing the gap between them. "This is proof of who you are," she shook her head. It could not be. She had never done anything that was related to magic before. Not even her mother, so how could she?

"That can't be," she said.

"You don't have to believe it right away, there are many ways to prove this to you," Arzaan said.

"What if you are wrong? What is just a coincidence?" she asked. As amazing as it would be for her to possess magic in her, it sounded absurd too.

"Why do you think that you are the one who was able to see the door to Arcadia and was able to pass through it? Why do you think that it is you who is my mate?" he asked and she went silent. "It is because of the power within you, your lineage that leads back here" he answered the questions himself.

"You could still be wrong" she stubbornly said even though what he said made sense. He had pointed out the points and given the answers to the questions that she had been asking herself. This could be it.

"I could be right," he argued.

"You have no proof,"

"This room has all the answers that would be needed. That is why I have brought you here. At first, This was only an assumption, but now I am certain, you're a Dragon Mage, the only thing that I need to know is what the source of your power is," he said and she looked at him as if he had grown a second head. "What is it?" he asked, noticing the way she looked at him.

"You said Dragon Mage, do dragons exist here?" she asked. The look in her eyes now is that of curiosity. She wanted to see one.

He fell speechless for a moment but smiled when he realized that he hadn't told her what he was yet. "If I said yes, would you believe that you are a mage?" he asked and she shook her head.

"No, but I would like to see one, even from a distance, that should be alright," she replied and he was left speechless once again. "Why do you want to see dragons so much?" he asked, intrigued by the dreamy look in her eyes. This was his first time seeing her like this, her emotions were all over the place before but now, she was like a cute little girl hoping her wish would be granted.

"I think they are beautiful, and also because I have only heard of them in fairytales," she said and he chuckled, unable to hold it back anymore. "So would you show them to me or just one would be alright,"

"I will take you to the Dragon King if you would touch those two crystal orbs," he said and she looked at him for a moment thinking. 'So there were rankings even for the dragon too,' she thought and nodded. Those things won't hurt her, all she had to do was to touch them and that was all.
