Days went by and Hazel had started to understand a bit about the world of Arcadia. Her relationship with Arzaan still needed much work but there was progress where she didn't move away from his touch anymore. This progress was enough to give the King some hope for the future.
Hazel was currently in the library unsure of the castle with a maid and a bodyguard who followed her everywhere to watch over her. Answering her questions and making sure that all that she needed was provided for her as per the king's instructions.
She was reading a book on the history of Arcadia and it surprised her how much Arcadia looked similar to the world map but with some differences. Reading on, she found a part of Arcadia on the map was black as if there was no life in there. Her brows tugged in confusion as she read further but the book was then taken from her.
She raised her head to see who would do it because she knew it could not be the maid or bodyguard. The face that came into view was that of Idril. He held the book away from her and offered her a smile. "My queen," He said with a bow.
Hazel stared at the elf who had interrupted and seized her book incredulously. Why would he take it from her when she was trying to learn as much as she could? "Greetings, Lord Idril," She replied to him without a smile to show her disapproval for the ceasing of her book. "I am still reading that if you don't mind giving it back."
"We can come back to the chapter, but another day, My Queen." He said and she frowned. "But for now, is it about me to take you on a tour? You see Arcadia for yourself, a book won't be able to give you all the details.". He offered and she glared. "Don't get me wrong, my queen, I mean no harm."
He didn't want her to read what was written on those pages yet. They were trying to get her to stay, not scare her and give her one more reason to want to leave.
Hazel gave a glance at her maid and bodyguard who showed no sign opposing rye idea and nods at Idril, "Alright."
He gave the book back to the librarian and said something finger in another language that made Hazel squint her eyes at him but he only smiled and said nothing about it. "Shall we?" He asked pointing to the door.
She said up and walked beside him with each of their attendants walking behind them. Her mind went back to the book that had been seized from her. The images that she was able to see before it was taken, she wondered what they were and why the rye place was so dark and gloomy. She could imagine whatever lived there to be as bleak as the place itself. She never expected such a place to exist in a world as beautiful as Arcadia.
Realizing that she was thinking too much into something that she was a bit even sure of she inwardly shook her head to clear her mind. For all she knew, or could be something from the past that no longer existed because there was no such place in all the places that she had been to and was able to see. But…
"Lord Idril, If you don't mind, can you tell me a bit about what was in the book? The chapter I was about to read before you took it away." She asked out of curiosity.
Idril froze for a second but retained his composure before she could notice it. "I am sorry, My Queen, but I did take account of it." he lied and she knew he did but did not push it any further.
They walked in silence through the castle corridors until they arrived outside where a chariot was ready and waiting to take them down from the castle. They got in and the maid and guards spread their wings flying behind the chariot.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked. She didn't know many places and had been to a few where Arzaan had taken her and it was mostly within the castle walls. The place was almost as big as a small town suspended in the air.
It was almost a week or so since she came into this world. She had discovered that not many people liked her, both male and female alike and the only person whom she could truly feel safe and secure with was her mate the King. She didn't want to go out too much and draw unnecessary attention to herself. Being human was already enough to do that.
She did but doubt Idril's loyalty nor did she feel any ill intent from him like she did with Duran, and also, Arzaan trusts him and they seem even closer than just a king and a loyal subject but it was not the same kind of security that she felt whenever she was the king. Right now she had no idea where he was taking her, but she could only hope that nothing out of place happened.
"To a place, I believe you must have read about, My Queen." He replied.
"Oh," She said and tried to remember all the places that she had read about. She had about so many places that she could not guess which one he would be taking and stopped trying to guess and wait until she gets there and sees it for herself. "I have read about many places recently, I can't make a guess," she said and he nodded.
"That is indeed true." He replied and looked ahead of them. "There are some questions I would like to ask you, My queen, would that be alright?"
So he has an agenda. She said in her mind. "It would depend on what to want to know, Lord Idril," she replied.
He smiled and nodded. "That is fair."
