Chapter 13 - A minor turbulence

Her head was tilted up as she gazed at him trying to maintain eye contact with him. While he gazed down at her, his face expressionless and he looked as if thinking whether to tell her or not. After a moment of silently staring at each other, he looked away and stared out the small window that was barely holding on due to age.

"You want to know what creature your mate is?" He asked her to confirm her question. Not because he didn't hear her but because he wanted to be sure she knew what she was asking.

She was quiet and looked down at her hands taking note of that little dirt that managed to find its way into her fingernail. She bit on her lower lip which only made her look very cute.

"My queen," He called her and she looked up at him. "Ask him," He said and walked a step away from her. "He would tell you as long as you ask him, that, I am sure of."  If she wanted to know all She had to do was to ask the man himself and he would tell but she was reluctant as if afraid to get closer to him.

"What if…?"She looked at him and then looked away again. He was silent as he waited for her to speak. "what if I never do? What if I never ask him?" She asked without looking at his face.

"Then you will have to wait and find out on your own, My Queen," he said and his smile returned. "You will probably be shocked when you do." He said.

Her brow wrinkled, not understanding what he meant by that. She waited for him to explain but he never did. She opened her mouth to speak when the earth shook as if there was an earthquake happening right outside the hut they were in. Before she could stumble on her footing, she was levitated and suspended in the air. While he remained down on the ground with his hand pointed at her.

His straight, long, and white hair fluttered lightly behind him and he was composed as if he didn't feel what she felt.

The shaking reduced speedily and then came to a complete stop before she was then let down. "Thank you." She said and brushed her hands against her dress properly. "May I ask what was that?" she asked. It came too suddenly and passed too quickly too.

"It is just a little turbulence from below us." He replied and she nodded thinking he was talking about a normal tremor from the ground.

"We should step out of here, it seems unstable." She said knowing how old the hut they were currently in was. It was dangerous to be inside a place like that with the 'little tremors happening.

"As the queen commands." He said and stepped towards the door. He opened it and gestured for her to step through first.

Away from them, Arzaan could be seen hovering over a vast land filled and covered in dark smoke. Many Guards were standing around him and so was Sage, who stood side by side with him and her wings spread behind her.

"I think it is done, My King." She said, looking at him.  All of his attention was on the ground below him as he watched how the guards try to stop what was happening and seal it back to the earth below. " Or is there something else that bothers my king?" She asked.

He looked exceptionally worried as he stared at the ground from where he stood. Though he had not shifted or let out his wings, he could still fly unlike everyone else. The perks of being the king.

"Yes," He said and stretched his hand toward the ground, he released a massive amount of energy and then followed by fire as if to purify it.  He was being extra careful now. He had a woman in his life and he intends to keep her as safe as possible. "find out who tried to open it."

The crack on the part of the ground was not natural. Unlike every other place in Arcadia, this place was sealed with magic to make sure that what was sealed within did not break free and find its way out to the mainland. Someone or something must have tried to break the seals and even managed to break the first seal.

"Yes, My King," She said with a small bow. She stared at his side profile and her heart skipped a bit. A frown appeared on her face when she remembered that he had a mate and she was the one. But rather, a creature that did not belong to their realm was his mate. She had loved him secretly hoping he would one day notice her but besides having her as his advisor, he did not see her any other way. "I will investigate it personally, Your Grace,"

He nodded before waving his hand and calling back the warriors and guards that he had brought along with him. This did not need him to be present but he wanted to make sure it was done right. Now that it has been sealed again and he had personally made it exceptionally hard to be broken he was satisfied and it was time to leave.

To break the seal and release the darkness within,  at least five people who were almost as strong as Idril or Sage were needed and there were very few of those. Not even the members of the Arcadian council could do it. There was only one other option, and that was dark magic which many of its users were locked and sealed in there.

"We will return now," He said, turning in the direction of the castle. "Have some guards stationed here to watch and report if there are any changes in the upcoming days." He said looking at Sage who flew beside him but kept some distance so her wings didn't touch him.

"Yes, your Majesty,"

He stopped when he noticed a blurry presence where he had just left but before he could properly read the energy signature he felt, it was gone. A small frown appeared on his face which was quick to disappear.
