"Oh my! You're a mess, darling! What happened to you?" Mrs. Jenn's high-pitched tone reverberated around the salon.
Liam and Evelynn thought she was referring to her messy haircut. But Mrs. Jenn was more concerned about her client's horrible state. One glance was all she needed to know that the girl was beaten up.
The salon owner looked bizarre to Evelynn. Not that she looked weird or something.
The middle-aged woman had blues on her face, particularly at her eyelids. They were blue like Evelynn's bruises. Her eyes had black lines around. They didn't look like black eyes, but they looked dark and horrible.
Her cheeks were red. Like they were slapped. And her lips were blood in color.
But somehow… somehow… she looked good. She looked like she wasn't hurting at all, and Evelynn couldn't believe that was possible.
How could someone who was beaten smile and look happy like that?
If that was her, she wouldn’t have been able to move her jaw because of the pain.
