"hey, quiet" a horsey voice of a man calls out.His voice sounded as though he had one too many bottles of beer the previous day or that of one who has been singing in a church choir for too long.
"Somebody's coming, I can hear footsteps outside. I thought you said you were alone?"
"yes I am, I'm not expecting anyone, " "but who might be walking near your window at this time?"
"how can I know?" "I'm in here with you." "I think I have to go, you might be luring me into a trap. You haven't been so honest lately."
The man walks silently to the window, opens curtain and peeps to see who who might be outside but no one was there.
"I think I head footsteps, my hearing is very good, somebody would question my sight instead."
"I'm very sure no one is coming to see me, I didn't invite any of my friends," the woman responded.
"If you say so, but I still have to leave you know I can't be here for too long."
The man walks back and wears his trousers. As he was thinking of leaving, the doubting sounds of the footsteps he had heard were confirmed by a slight drop sound, which sounded like somebody had kicked an empty tin. "You see, i told you I heard something." whispering. Even before the woman could respond he begins to walk out of the room, silently on his toes so that nobody could hear him.
Just before he could open the door, he saw a light outside, one of the front bulbs was on. He paused for a while to see if there might be somebody outside, he was also thinking that there might be somebody inside the house who knew he was there.
"How do I leave this place now?" he thought to himself. He didn't know whether to go back and sleep or just wait until everybody sleeps. As if this was not enough, a loud bang of the door is heard. Just that, put him on mute.
it took him quite a while to gather strength and courage to open the door and walk out, although he couldn't bang the door as a man of the house would do when living angrily. He closed the door slowly and silently so that nobody would be alarmed, and when he managed to close the door, he even breathed out, as a sign of relief.
He pulled himself together, shook his body in preparation for a majestic walk. Then he remembered he couldn't walk majestically because he was dashing out of a woman's house, he instead decided to walk along the wall of the house. It took him a minute to get to the other flat door and when he reached the door, he slipped into the house. As he was entering silently, he tried to make sure no one heard him but unfortunately, he found his wife waiting for him in the living room.
