Chapter 1 - Tristan

In the bustling city of Brooklyn, New York. A certain boy in a studio apartment on the borders of Brooklyn can be seen playing a mmorpg on his gaming computer.

After playing for a bit more he did something on his computer which can be seen as ending the stream.

He looked out of the window in his studio apartment while he was deep in thoughts. The boy was none other than Tristan.

'Let's go on a walk…'

It was already midnight at 2 am but Tristan never really cared about time as he was living a life of a shut-in and just like various shut

-in he didn't have much understanding of time.

Besides, Tristan has always been anti social. It wasn't that he can't talk with anyone but more like he didn't want to talk with anyone.

Due to such behaviour from an early age Tristan has become indifferent and ignorant to most of the things happening around him.

Except for one of his siblings even his parents had given up but frankly speaking, Tristan didn't give a shit.

He preferred living like this. Without anyone to annoy him, nobody to attach himself to and more importantly, nobody to advise him and influence his decision.

Haah….

Tristan sighed while walking towards the replica park of the main park which was at the centre of this part of Brooklyn.

'The craze of mmorpg is becoming less and less…' Tristan said to himself with a sad look in his eyes.

What he said was about the current world gaming community. With the newly popular fps games it has become hard for fantasy games like mmorpgs to survive.

Though there are quite a few people who still play mmorpg a lot compared to fps games their popularity is still low.

'The only MMORPG that is famous now is Minecraft but….' Just like most mmorpg players Tristan knew that Minecraft was not like other fantasy mmorpgs such as black desert online etc.

'Hmm, what should I do to increase my popularity…' Tristan was talking about his streaming channel. He has 50 loyal viewers who watch his streams regularly but that much is not enough to earn even a penny.

Tristan has been living off on his savings which he created when he lived in his own house. By writing novels on different online platforms he earned a bit and invested it in forex.

Currently he has enough money to live more than 6 months without caring about money but he is still doing his best to earn as much as possible because no one knows when the circumstances change.

Tristan was thinking about different ways to earn money when he entered the park near his district.

One of the fun facts of living in New York is that you are given a key to the park near your house so that only those who live nearby can enter the park. Everyone else has to pay a small fee.

Tristan was walking in the park. Even though it was late at night and quite creepy due to the silence Tristan was not a least bit scared.

From an early age Tristan has felt like the night is the best. Even if you are just walking around like him you can experience a special excitement and joy in the night.

Tristan suddenly felt a bright light from his back. The light was so bright that Tristan's shadow was completely black.

Tristan turned his head, looking in the direction of the bright light. The light was so strong that it was hurting the eyes. That's why Tristan covered his eyes with his hands.

Tristan saw a glimpse of what was approaching towards him with great speed. Tristan's mind went blank and the only thought he was able to muster was:-

'...Fuck!?'

It was a huge meteorite which was approaching Tristan with great speed. The size of the meteorite was big enough to cover an entire house.

Before Tristan can even react the meteorite covered him entirely and fell on him. Before losing consciousness Tristan recognised that the meteorite was gaseous instead of solid.

'So the spell was a failure,eh…?' Tristan heard the voice of an old man in his late sixties.

'The result was me falling on a different dimensional plane and attaching myself to a young kid….'

Tristan heard the voice again and this time he opened his eyes. What greeted him was a completely lightless pitch black area covering all the directions.

The only thing in this pitch black area was a weird person standing in front of him. Tristan was still in a half sleepy, dizzy state that's why he just looked towards the man standing in front of him and heard what he said.

'Even though I didn't want to, I have to make you my successor by giving you my experiences and memories. I hope you will use them well.' The man said while Tristan was not able to reply.

After a few seconds Tristan felt his body or whatever this state he was in right now slipping away. He felt like he was exiting this area.

'I am sorry for involving you in this but I truly wish that you won't make the mistakes I made.' Those were the final words of the man before Tristan exited the area and opened his eyes in his body.

It was still midnight while Tristan was lying on the ground. No one came even after the meteorite landed; it was as if the meteorite was invisible to everyone except Tristan.

Not even a second went by after Tristan opened his eyes that he was encountered with a severe headache. The headache was so severe that Tristan let out a painful cry.

"Aaaaaahhhhh…."

Tristan stood up and started running towards the direction of his house. He was holding his head tightly due to the pain.

Even though it took a lot of time, Tristan was able to reach his apartment without anyone seeing.

The first thing Tristan did after entering his house was open his drawer while throwing all the contents inside it to find a single object.

The item was none other than a small plastic can of headache pills. Tristan gulped down more than three pills at once without even drinking any water alongside it.

After that Tristan hurriedly removed all of his clothes until he was butt naked and ran towards the shower.

*Szzzhhhhhhh….*

Cold water started falling on Tristan's head slowly relieving him from his headache. He stayed in the shower for at least half an hour after which the severe headache finally subsided.

There was still some small pain in his head from time to time but it was sustainable compared to the severe headache from before.

Tristan finally came out of the shower while drying his head with the towel. He was still butt naked but who the hell even cares when he lives alone.

*Plop!!*

With an imaginary plop sound Tristan finally relaxed on his sofa. He closed his eyes while massaging his head to relieve himself from the aftershock of the severe headache.

Everything in his mind was fuzzy up till now but finally his conversation with the man came in his memories. Slowly but steadily more and more unknown memories came in his head which were probably of the man.

Most of the memories also gave him a cold and chilling glare which didn't belong to Tristan even though he was the one who was experiencing it.

These were the experiences of the man who gave his memories to Tristan. Tristan was just not seeing his memories but was also feeling his emotions and experience.

"Alucard…." Tristan said while looking at his ceiling blankly.

It has been a few minutes since Tristan sat on the couch. Tristan himself was feeling pity for the man named Alucard who had various world changing powers but at the same time his own shares of regret and rage.

"Ha...ha... hahaha... hahahaha." Tristan started laughing like a maniac after reminiscing over Alucard.

For the onlookers Tristan's laughter was like a maniac but after a few days even that won't be special. That's how much the world will change.

"I thank you Alucard. For giving me these memories and allowing me to know about the not so distinct future. I can't make promises but I will live a satisfied life just like you wanted." Tristan said with a slight smile. For one reason or the other the memories of Alucard were more like the memories of a father or ancestor to him.

It felt like it was his inner instinct and desire to think of himself as Alucard's successor and as Alucard as his predecessor and a father figure. The unusual thing was that it felt correct to think like that, at least for Tristan.

"Now, I don't have much time but let's make a plan as soon as possible. After all, the world will face an extreme change after 24 hours." Tristan said with a slight smile.
