Chapter 4 - Hellhound

"Haah, as expected it is not as broken as it seems…" Tristan said with a smile.

Tristan was happy about this fact because at the very least the balance won't be broken.

'I guess I understand this leveling up a little bit…' Tristan thought while pondering.

At least according to Tristan, leveling up means removing the restrictions set upon once self.

Now he had a new question. What will happen if even that reaches a limit? Like a human body, no matter how strong it growed it will probably have a natural limitation.

'My guess is that level 10 is the limit of a human body. Maybe the Class will have something to do with it…. Wait, I shouldn't waste my time doing useless predictions.' Tristan thought to himself with a helpless smile.

Tristan had a bad habit of wanting to understand everything before actually doing or facing it. He got this habit by watching videos before playing the game to get a better understanding.

Tristan decided to not think about the something he will come to know eventually, probably.

'Let's check the other stuff…' Tristan thought while he went towards his bag grabbed a protein bar out of it.

While snacking on the protein bar Tristan's attention went towards the other items he had looted.

[Rough fangs :-

Rank :- F

Description :- A trashy fang derived from a low rank wolf type dungeon monster.]

"…" Tristan went silent seeing the description of the fangs.

"....Is this system trying to mock this item or what?" Tristan said aloud while looking at the pile of small rotten and dirty fangs with indifference.

"Well, they will have their use because something is always better than nothing." Tristan thought while putting them away in his bag.

You might think that Tristan knows about everything but that is not true he only knows about stuff that Alucard remembered.

That's why he didn't know much about the evolution system or this Apocalypse. He only knows the stuff which will be profitable for him no matter how this apocalypse turns out.

The reason why he didn't know about these fangs was because they might have been so insignificant that even Alucard forgot about them.

Tristan decided to move on to the next item which he got through looting the hounds.

[Undead essence :-

Rank :- E

Description :- The undead essence is the factor which makes the monsters undead. You can use this item to create various items or consumables.]

Tristan only understood that this item doesn't have any use right now but it will surely be useful in the future.

The undead essence were small glass bottles the size of fingers with some green liquid probably necrotic within them.

He stored the bottles inside his bag and decided to rest for a bit before continuing.

'The first generation dungeons don't have strong monsters but they will have a high population which will help you to level up and give you a head start before anyone else.' Tristan thought while reminiscing the memories of Alucard again and again.

'This will also filter out those who accepted the new reality and chose to face it head on. They will just like me have a natural head start in both levels and experience.' Tristan thought.

'The biggest reason behind the first generation dungeons is to create havoc so that we can prepare for the upcoming future. The earth knows that it's better to have a small amount of surprise casualties rather than big amounts in the near future.' Tristan thought with a nod.

'Now I need to grow up stronger fast as soon as possible and use the memories of Alucard to stand above all. After all, in future those who are weak will only become slaves for the strong. That's how humans, no, every intelligent being is.' Tristan thought with a serious look in his eyes.

Even without the apocalypse he already knew the hardships of living in this dog eat dog world.

Just that with apocalypse the desires which were hidden in a shallow curtain known as humanity will become common to mind.

Tristan stood up and picked up his bag. Even though the contents of the bag increased Tristan felt the bag was lighter compared to before.

'Status' Before moving forward Tristan decided to check his status as he had not checked it even though he leveled up once.

[Name :- Tristan

Race :- Human

Existence Level :- 3

Class :- none

Intelligence :- 50

Vitality :- 50

Agility :- 30

Mana :- 40]

Tristan was satisfied with his current stat but he probably needs more than that to survive the outside world which is in the havoc of various kinds of monsters.

Tristan started walking towards the end of the cave because there would be the door for the next monster room.

Even though it was dark Tristan was able to see the grandiose door which looked like the gate of the underworld with its supreme height and majestic yet scary design.

But there was also something else which caught Tristan's attention. This creature was sitting there while staring at Tristan with his four eyes.

The creature was a hound with two heads just like the zombie hounds but he was definitely not an undead with his fearsome and fiery fur along with his two heads who were staring at Tristan with Intelligence.

[Dungeon monster boss :- Lesser HellHound]

From its name only Tristan recognised this creature from hell.

'If this is a 'Lesser' then I don't want to see its full fledged version. Not yet at least.' Tristan thought while gulping down his saliva.

The zombie hounds were the size of normal dogs but this fucker was at least the size of a adult wolf.

*Swish*

Before Tristan can even react, the hellhound vanished leaving an after image behind. Tristan knew that he was coming for him.

Tristan already sensed that he was going to attack from his right side. That's why he jumped backwards to dodge the it's attack.

The hellhound stopped when Tristan changed his position. The hellhound was looking at Tristan who was just a few meters away from him.

Due to the high agility which was increased by 10 and alongside intelligence which was clearly maxed out for his level, Tristan's thought processing speed had increased along with his reflexes and physical body speed.

The hellhound attacked Tristan again while Tristan threw his bag away to fight without any obstructions.

"Urghhh…"

Tristan doged the incoming attack but he was a bit late in timing as the hellhound grazed Tristan's right hand with his sharp claws.

Tristan tried his best to ignore the pain and focused his complete attention on the hellhound.

As expected the hellhound attacked Tristan again in the same way but this time Tristan took a few steps forward and side stepped dodging the hounds attack.

Tristan lifted his metal and bat and swinged it vertically with all his strength, speed and anger.

"Woo.." The hellhound whimpered while one of his heads was crushed by the bat.

The force was so much that one of the heads of the hound made a huge impact with the ground leaving a small crater on the ground.

Even Tristan himself was surprised by his own strength but after thinking about it clearly he recognised that his vitality stat had increased by 60%.

Obviously his strength will get a massive boost. Tristan didn't check it but even his body was being reformed the higher his stats went up.

Tristan smiled slightly as his confidence returned a bit through this recognition. He was still on guard but this time he initiated the attack.

Tristan ran with his highest speed and appeared near the hound in a single second even though he was standing a few meters away from the hound.

Tristan appeared directly behind the hellhound and swinged his bat horizontally with all his strength.

The hellhound went crashing towards the wall of the cave. The impact was so strong that one of the legs of the hellhound was also injured.

The hellhound didn't even look at his injury and attacked Tristan by jumping with all his might.

Tristan this time didn't do anything but dodge the attack with all his might. He felt a weird sense of danger from the hound.

Then he saw the claw of a hound which was covered in fire. The impact of the claw with the ground left a charred up crater.

'Magic!!'

Even though Tristan knew a lot about magic through Alucard's memories, seeing it with his own eyes was still amusing.

Though Tristan didn't have time to get interested in the opponent's magic that's why he appeared in front of the hound and grabbed his head.

The hound started shaking its body to remove Tristan who was now sitting on him.

Tristan didn't waste a single minute and grabbed the eye of the hound.

It was the weakest part in his body as most of his body was covered in thick fur which was not strong but not weak either.

Tristan with all of his might tore the eye of the hellhound.
