Chapter 20 - True purpose

[Ding ! Host killed a peak rank 1 being EXP gained : 350]

[Ding ! Host killed a low rank 2 being EXP gained : 2000]

[Ding ! Host leveled up !]

[Ding ! Host leveled up !]

[Ding ! Host leveled up !]

[Ding ! Host leveled up !]

Zach was pretty happy that he leveled 4 times but from what he deduced he would rank up every 10 level. That meant he was able to fight against being much stronger than him, technically he was a low rank 1 being however he just managed to kill a peak rank one and a low tier 2. Even in this world where so much more was possible than on his old earth it should not be possible yet he could.

He decided to inquire about this oddness to the system 'Why can I defeat those men who should be a lot stronger than I am ?'

[Responding to Host : The system translate the state of advancements of your method in the form of stats points. If we use the Void Body method as an example, host migth be at the lowest of the mid rank 1 and it translates by having 20 stats point in stamina, speed and strength. However those 20 stats points doesn't give you the same power any other being would have while being at the same stage. To make it short Host's power even while not having a great cultivation is strong.]

Zach was dumbstruck, he didn't thought it would be like this, then he realized what it truly meant. If he was already this powerful while being only a the lowest of the mid rank 2 on the Void Body method then how powerful will he be once he attained the apex of it.

Pedro took him out his thought "Boy we need to discuss some things." he whispered. Zach stared at him confused, nodded and followed him. Pedro lead him away from the group, Kyle and Oscar were waiting for them. "I am sure you noticed but it's not a simple carriage going to Delp." Oscar stated, Zach nodded, he was curious about the true goal they had.

Kyle took over "In fact the three of us are from Delp and are not human, Oscar is a forest elf, Pedro and I are respectively lion and wolf beastmen, it's a secret potion who permitted us to take those appearance until we decide to break them."

This revelation alone made Zach's mind blank from all the possibilities he had considered this one wasn't among them. "I wasn't expecting that. But why are you telling me this secret ?" Zach still had a doubt.

"Simple, you can be trusted, the fact that you recognized our assailant and still warned us is enough to make us at least believe in you this much. But that's not all, you are a mid rank 1 yet you survived this battle and even killed 2 enemies who should have been stronger than you. This makes you one hell of a monster." He paused.

"So after talkinig between ourselves about the fact that even more powerful soldiers will be sent after us, we decided to gamble our future on you, if the situation turns grim we trust you to deliver what we are carrying" Oscar explained.

"It's not if, it's when." Zach stated with a grim face, none of them contradicted him because they knew he was right. "You are right ... When this time will come it will be you who shall safekeep our package and deliver it to the Delp's royal family."

And this was another big surprise for Zach "Why me ??" "Pretty simple, if they knew what we were doing it meant we were monitored since the begining of our mission, but you, you are someone who got recruited at the last moment. Even if you are not the most powerful you are the one with the most chances to have gotten through their information network." Oscar replied.

"So if I well understood, when things turn grim you will act as decoys while betting everything on me to safely deliver the thing you are carrying." Zach summarized doubtfully because if it was indeed their plan then it meant they will all die without a doubt. Oscar, Pedro and Kyle nodded "Will you do this ?".

Just after Kyle asked this question Zach heard a familiar sound in his head.

[Ding ! Quest triggered : Help the people from Delp by accepting Pedro, Kyle and Oscar's request and safely deliver {The book of Hidden Bloodlines} to Delp's royal family.

Time limit : 2 months

Rewards : Hidden

Failure penalty : Being hunted down by Delp and Kartelion

Will you accept this quest ? YES/NO]

"I accept." Zach stated calmly but he knew that it would be everything but an easy task [Quest accepted]. "Great ! We will return on the road to lose as little time as possible. There keep it as safe as possible." Oscar said seriously while giving him a pitch black box with golden drawings on it.

Zach put the box in his shadow, it greatly surprised Oscar, Pedro and Kyle. "True, there should not be any safer spot with you" Pedro remarked.

'With the 24 stats points I got, I will be able to improve my power so I will have more chances of survival when I need to escape.' For now he didn't have a great use of MP, he could sustain his Hell fire for quite a long time and even if it wasn't too powerful it should be enough.

Considering all of this, in his opinion putting all of those 24 system points in his spirit was the best choice. He took a look at his status.

[Host status:

He gained quite a good amount of EXP form those 2 and wasn't too far from leveling up again. After putting those 24 points in his spirit Zach could clearly feel the difference.

He could feel the environment and the changes in this evironment down to the last detail and he could now accurately perceive the power emanating from Oscar, he held a huge power.

When he stopped focusing on those tiny things he noticed that only a fraction of a second had passed, it made him conclude that his thinking speed was beyond what he ever had and maybe beyond a major part of the beings in this world.

He was extremely happy with the choice he had done, now with this thinking speed and sensitivity he just improved his odds surviving the hunt of which he will be the prey.

Everyone took back the road towards Delp in the drakness of the night, leaving behind the soldiers' corpse and blood. For the next 5 days they didn't stop and were progressing at a great pace hoping to delay as much as possible the time when the second wave of Umbrash warrior would come and try to reap their lives.

This night they decided to take a small break, just for eating a meal all together maybe for the last time. Zach had a question which tormented his mind, it was about a small detail but sometimes details made the difference.

"Oscar apart from you three all of them are human ?" he inquired in a low voice not sure if they were privy to the mission's goal.

"Indeed, they are, but each of them belong to families which are loyal and pleaded allegiance to the royal family centuries ago. They just never left Kartelion but were always in contact with us, informing us about the movements of Kartelion's royal family." Oscar replied calmly. "I see." Zach said in a low voice.

Everyone was happy having a meal together but Zach with his high sensivity felt the nervousness and tension coming from everyone, they knew, all of them knew that it would probably be their last time together and one of the last few days on this world.

Even Zach was a bit nervous, he didn't have his second life up and even if he succeeded in fleeing with the book he will be hunted down by Kartelion.

"Time to get back on the road, we are near Gavno, only a few more hours, there we will change our beasts drawing the carriage and refill our supplies. We will stay in Gavno for at most 1 hour so be ready to leave at any time." Pedro said, they had almost exhausted their beasts to death, they didn't stop for a whole 5 days and were advancing at an overspeed.

At dawn they reached Gavno, the city's gates were just being open, despite their hurry the guard at the gates made it slow, they could only enter the city after half a hour. They hurried toward mount/beast seller and asked for the same type of beast they had.

The merchant saw the need and hurry in their eyes so he profited of it and asked for twice the price he would normally sell them.

Oscar knew that, he gritted his teeth and accepted the deal. While Oscar was buying the new beast Kyle went to buy water and food, luckily he didn't get overcharged for them. Just after they bought what they needed they meet at the opposite gate from where they entered and exited Gavno.

This was a lightning stop but to their misfortune it was all that was needed to help the Umbrash warrior track them.

In the forest between Fronos and Gavno was a squad of 20 men, on each of their armor was a sword covered in black flames.

It was indeed the Umbrash warrior, but even if they were less if Zach was there he could tell in an instant that each of them was more powerful than the supervisor who attacked them.

The one at the front suddenly got a message. "Good ! Guys they just entered Gavno, hurry up so we can catch tomorrow night at the latest !" He was the leader of this squad and while he said this a devilish smile appeared on his face.
