Zach went down the stairs and ended up in a peculiar room. If Zach didn't know it was a dungeon and arrived there thanks to stair he could swear he was in a natural cave. He could barely see anything in this place as there was almost no light and in the distance he could hear water flowing.
'Now that I think about it, how come there was light in the former room and some in this one.' Zach just had this thought and it made his blood run cold.
He didn't know if it was someone or something but there was definitely a control over this dungeon and the thing he hoped the most was that the thing controling this dungeon wouldn't care about it anymore. For now he put those thought in the back of his mind and paid attetion to his surroundings.
As his eyes were not very useful in this environment he focused on his hearing and after 5 minutes of listening he could conclude that the monster he should encounter in this cave should be something like bats. He had a resigned smile, in addition to be trapped in this dungeon for now all the monsters he encountered had the field advantage.
The only thing he could think of to remove his disadvantage was to summon the Hell fire and lit this place up, he knew that bat like monster didn't appreciate light. He hesitated a bit and finally summoned a flame "Oh Shit, Why me ?"
What Zach saw wasn't something good. He knew there was bats but the second he brought light in this cave he could see that the ceiling was full of bat.
Indeed the bat didn't like the light Zach brought, they all opened their eyes, which were glowing in this darkness, and started to fly towards Zach. To take care of this swarm of bat he put even more mana to summon a big and very powerful flame, it was covering 30 meters in front of him and 20 on each side.
After 3 seconds, Zach stopped the notifications from the system told him that he should be good and he had already used a great deal of mana, this flame costed him a full 50 mana points, he didn't go easy on those bats. Once the flame extinguished he could see on the ground heaps of ashes.
[Ding ! Host has level up.]
Zach took a look at the notifications he got for killing the bat and in total he had killed 520 human realm bats along with 30 low rank 1. It permitted him to become level 16 and get a great deal of the experience he needed for the next level.
'I find that this room was easier than the previous one, it's weird.' Zach felt like something was missing, he forgot that since the previous room he had grown a bit but maybe he was right and there was still monsters in this room.
Now he only had to seek and find the next stairs in this dark cave, he hoped that it wouldn't take him too much time.
He started to go deep in the cave thinking that the stairs would be at the opposite of the one which lead him there but, after 15 minutes, once he reached the other end of the cave there was no stairs. 'Guess I will have to look everywhere in this room to find the stairs' Zach was starting to get bored of this room, he would like to exit it as soon as possible.
He decided to go on his right, he could already see the wall signaling that the stairs should not be there but before he could reach it to check he felt danger, he jumped on the ground and the instant after that a huge bat even bigger than the one he had already seen flew above him. 'I was right, it wasn't finished.'
Zach got up and took out his scythe, he summoned a mild flame just to light up the area and see where the bat was, however for now he didn't see it. One more time the bat flew towards Zach and this time he saw it few meters before it reached him, this bat was disgusting, ugly and monstrous.
Its head was asymmetric, it had its left eyes above its right, it had a diagonal flattened muzzle and it was missing some flesh on its maw, Zach could see its teeth even if it had his maw closed. And it let out a smell, few would be able to stay conscious after smelling it.
Zach refrain from puking, this bat was just too disgusting and ugly, he had seen and smelled a lot of things but even for him this bat was a bit too much. At first he wanted to counterattack but after that he wasn't focused enough to do so, thus he decided to just jump on the side and wait for its next attack.
However even after 20 seconds there was no sign of the bat coming again, it intrigued Zach, why would it suddenly stop from attacking him, he went towards the wall where it had first attacked him and without much surprise he saw it coming.
He jumped a few meters back and waited to see if it would come back again but it didn't. 'Interesting !' Zach thought with a big smile 'If it attacks me only when I'm in a certain range, it means that it should be guarding something.' This time Zach was ready for the smell and the ugly face of the bat, therefore he went towards the bat for the third time.
He stepped on the territory the bat was defending and waited for it to come, he was still illuminating the area with his hell fire and carefully listened his surroundings.
A few seconds after he first heard it and then he saw it coming from his right, he sliced towards its left wing but when the blade of the scythe collided with the wing he heard a shriek along a loud Clang, the bat went back in the darkness.
Surprisingly his scythe didn't cut the bat or didn't cut it deep enough, Zach was startled about this, his scythe along with his power didn't lack anything for a being of this level. Zach could feel that the beast should be at the mid rank 1. "If my scythe can't kill you, we will see if my fire is as powerless !" Zach knew that even if he could not cut it in 2 pieces he shouldn't have too much difficulty killing it.
When the bat came back again to kill Zach, he launched a Hell fire's ball but the bat was fast enough to dodge it, Zach was dumbfounded, he could not kill it with his scythe and hit it with his Hell fire turned out to be much more difficult.
The bat was still going full speed on Zach, he simply shifted his body on the side and at the moment the bat was before him "AHH" Zach yelled and he landed a descending punch.
THUD !
This time Zach had enough strength to send it in the ground, he fist was aching from this blow, it didn't move but Zach knew it was not dead because he still didn't have the notification. He neared it and took out his scythe, this time he tried to plunge the blade in its body and this time it penetrated without too much difficulty, the next second Zach heard the usual notification.
[Ding ! Host has killed a mid rank 1 being + 50 EXP]
Zach collected its soul and went to the area it protected, now that he had killed it, he had to find what valuable thing it was guarding. He stumbled upon a little flow of water 'So there is the water I heard from the begining.' He decided to follow the flow to see if what he was seeking was at its end.
He reached the end of the flow it had led him to a rock, in fact it wasn't really the end of the flow as it should continue in the rock but he could not reach it by conventional means. 'If there is no door, I just have to create one.' Zach smiled and put a great deal of his power in a punch which destroyed the rock which was housing the flow of water.
For a second Zach was blinded by the light coming from inside the rock, it was a blue green light which seemed to emanate from something which was inside the rock. He still couldn't see what was emanating this light but he could see that the flow split in 2 and circled around a piece of grass.
After a few more seconds, he could finally see what was on this piece of grass and it made him extremely happy and excited. On this piece of grass was a plant, it had a bluish stem and magnificient bright green diamond shaped petals.
'WHAT A LUCK I HAVE ! never would I have thought that I would find something as rare as this, all the more in a place like this. Why didn't I ever play lottery in my previous life ?'
