Unaware of what was happening not far from their position, the group was continuing his travel at the fastest pace they could.
Their travel proceeded still without an incident with the Umbrash warriors and they reached the border between Delp and Kartelion at dawn.
"GET READY !" Oscar suddenly yelled out of the blue. All of them was surprised but that only lasted an instant because they already knew why he said that.
"Oh oh oh ! I didn't expect that one of you would be able to spot us before we reaveal ourselves" A deep voice was heard behind them.
"And I didn't expected that we would be able to reach this far before getting to this encounter." Oscar replied with a resigned smile. "Until the death come taking us !" Oscar yelled. Everyone took out their weapon, ready to fight.
Zach took out his scythe, he had to make it like he will fight but in fact he was seeking an opportunity to escape this fight. For now he didn't have any clue on how he could escape, he still didn't know if there was enemies on their side or even in front of them
He put himself in the center of all them waiting for an opportunity to arise. At this moment a man appeared behind them, he was tall, with a 220 cm height, short dark hair, ocean blue eyes and bulging muscles.
Zach face turned dark, he gritted his teeth, he felt a mix of huge despair and wrath, Zach could feel it, this man was the one who held the most power here but it wasn't because of this that he reacted this way. He reacted this way because he knew this man, it was Arnold's father.
This fact changed the whole thing, he wanted from the deepest of him to claim his head right now but he knew he would not be able to do this. In addition to flee now he had to hide his identity, he could not let them know he was alive, it was his only advantage on them for now.
"Death is already here." Arnold's father said with a smile. Suddenly on the right and the left of the carriage groups of 8 men appeared while in front of the carriage 3 men also appeared.
'SHIT ! How can I escape this.' Zach was nervous because he knew that Arnold's father was a low rank 4 which made him someone they were unable to defeat even if all of them were going on him at the same time.
At this instant Zach heard a notification from the system, for an instant he hoped that it would give him something to make his escape easier but ...
[Ding ! Urgency quest triggered : Get out alive from the Umbrash's warrior attack
Time limit : none
Rewards : 3 level and a random skill
Failure penalty : Death]
He looked at the quest, the rewards were huge but the difficulty was just as huge. He considered using his Hell fire to make diversion but eventually decided against it, he would not be able to make a big enough blaze and he wasn't certain if the Hell fire would consume the trees and all.
If he used the hell fire he would also draw a lot of attention which would make his escape even harder, eventually the best way to get out in his opinion was to get through them with brute force.
He now knew that even if his physique was mid rank 1 it could express more power than this, he focused on the soldiers around them to find the weakest one, he wasn't crazy enough to think that he could get past Arnold's father.
This time lady luck was on his side, he felt that on the right side of the carriage was a soldier who just broke through rank 3, making him the weakest of the Umbrash warrior.
But even that would not be enough, he got close to Oscar and whispered his plan to him "Go all out on the warrior on the right, if you do this I may be able to escape with it." Oscar suddenly gave his order "Follow me !".
He jumped on the warrior on the right just as Zach suggested. Arnold's father was a bit surprised by this decision but he was mostly amused, he knew that it was a desperate foolish choice.
Oscar, Pedro and Kyle managed to hold a warrior each but it was obvious that they were not winning, the others were ganging on warriors hoping to draw the warriors in death along them.
As for Zach as he planned he went towards the weakest with some others of his group and while the warrior was ready to defend all of their attacks Zach canceled his and rushed past him "There is one rat trying to escape !" the warrior said.
"Someone go after him." Arnold's father ordered, instantly after saying this a man who was in front of the carriage went after Zach. Zach hearing was sharp enough to have heard it, so he went all out, he had already put back his scythe in his shadow and now he was using every muscle in his body to their maximum.
The same bizarre thing happened when he just got out the cave, from Zach point of view the surrondings seemed to distort a bit, even bend.
From the point of view of the one chasing Zach what was happening was astonishing, he saw the boy run and one time he traveled 3 meters with one step and the other time it was 6 meters. He didn't believe that he would need to put some seriousness to catch this brat.
He also put great power in his muscles to keep up with Zach, at first he succeeed, however Zach movements were just too weird, he started to lose Zach, Zach continued to travel distance which should not be possible considering his cultivation and eventually unknown to Zach the warrior lost his tracks.
Zach continued to rush with his utmost power, he was so focused in running away that he didn't notice the notification from the system.
Zach stopped running because he didn't have much energy left in his body, he looked up in the sky, he should have run for about an hour. He was utterly exhausted and was on the verge of collapsing, he hoped that no one was still on his tracks.
He sought a place to rest but he was in the middle of a forest and no there was no place to hide in his view. He decided to do a last effort wandering in a random direction hoping to stumble on something but the only thing he found was a river and, before he could follow it, he collapsed.
When Zach opened his eyes what he saw was darkness, he knew he didn't die, it was the darkness of the night, he has been out for about a day. He was in an unknown location, he didn't know how far he traveled from where they were attacked.
'I'm lucky no beast devoured me nor the Umbrash warrior caught to me.' he was relieved and like he wanted to do before fainting he would go downstream the river, hoping to find at least a small village from where he would ask for direction.
While he was walking downstream he checked the notification he got.
[Ding ! Quest completed : Level up !
Level up !
Level up !
Host has gained the |Death gaze| skill : As death when you look at your enemy your are making him feel like they are about to die which will stun them, it's heavily reliant on host charisma and your enemy willpower.
Cost : A quarter of host's current mana; minimum 10 mana.]
Zach just has gained a life saving skill, it will be of the greatest use, thanks to this skill he could maybe get a few instant in a fight, but it was all that was needed to turn the tide or at worst flee.
'Now that I'm level 10 I could be considered a mid rank 1 being, I will need all my stats at least to those standarts. Put 8 points in intelligence, as for the last 10 I will keep them in case of dire needs even if I won't put them in speed, strangth or stamina.'
He kept going downstream for the whole night, when the first sun ray came he could see afar the outline of a small village. The more he neared it the more he could see that it was a very crude and small village, there was small walls made wood and there was about 40 or 45 houses.
He eventually got in front of the entrance and a wolf man stopped him "Who are you ? And what you are doing here ?" Zach could feel that the beastman in front of him was powerful, about as powerful as Oscar which surprised him, how could there be such powerful being in such a lost place.
"I'm seeking to go to Delp's capital." Zach replied with a smile, as he was talking to a beastman he was almost certain that he was in Delp territory.
"I won't give this information to an unknown human, if you want to have it, you have to prove your good will to the chief." Zach smile faded, he asked for a simple thing but things were made difficult for him.
"Ok, so lead me to your chief so I can prove my good will."
