In this unknown place the only thing Zach could do to get information was to ask the system and hope it will answer him. 'What is this place ?' After a few seconds there still no response and Zach concluded that the system would not help him on this. However just as he had this thought he heard the system voice in his head.
[Ding ! After analyze host seem to have landed in one of the more coveted place in the lower worlds : a dungeon, a place created by the universe where opportunity and danger go hands in hands.] 'What are those opportunities you are talking about ?' Zack inquired but this time the system stayed silent.
Tsk Tsk ! Zach clicked his tongue annoyed by the system.
He wasn't sure if delving in this dungeon was a good idea but when he looked to what seemed to be the entrance the bridge was destroyed on 50 meters due to the bear fall, he could not turn back and exit with the power he had right now.
'At least in this place I can find valuable things, I hope they didn't get plundered by someone else before me.' Knowing that there was valuable things there made a grin appear on his face but he didn't enter this dungeon in the conventional way so maybe someone already picked up everything.
Zach looked around him, analyzing where he had landed, the bridge he was on seemed to be on the first floor. Zach got on the bridge's edge and looked down to see how deep this dungeon was, however he could not see the lowest floor from the bridge, he concluded that this dungeon was at least 300 meters deep.
Zach still had his arm dislocated, he had to do something that would not be enjoyable, he had to place it back by himself while enduring all the pain that will come with. Even if it was his dominant arm that was dislocated, thankfully, he had enough power in his left arm to make it.
Zach took a deep breath 'One, two, th...' "ARGHGHHHH" the pain was excruciating but it only lasted an instant before it became even less painful than when it was dislocated. About his leg he couldn't do anything to alleviate the pain but it was not to the point where he could not fight.
Without much choice Zach had to delve in this dungeon, he advanced slowly but he was ready to react at any time.
After 3 minute of careful walking he arrived at the other end of the bridge, what was in front of him was stairs, he descended them and ended up in a huge room.
He could already see the next stairs 'Where is the catch ?' Zach was even more suspicious of this room now. He carefully went towards the stairs which were about 250 meters away from him, he had already walked 75 meters but there was still nothing in view, however it didn't reassure him.
This was too weird, it couldn't be just a huge blank room, he continued to carefully watch the environment but there was still nothing.
However once Zach was in the middle of the room he finally noticed what was the catch, he was surrounded by snake, how could he have been surrounded ?
This was simply because the snakes were of the same color as the ground, perfectly melting with the ground and becoming almost impossible to see. In fact few people would be able to see them before getting bitten by them.
Zach felt that those snakes weren't powerful but he knew that if he hadn't been careful he would have been bitten for sure. 'If they aren't powerful, I should be careful about their poison and absolutely don't get bitten, their poison should be something very powerful.'
After a quick counting, there was around 50 snakes. Zach grimaced, he would fight all those snakes while his body was still aching a bit.
Zach was ready but at this moment he remembered that he used a lot of mana and he had only 84 mana points remaining. He took out his scythe and rushed towards a spot where there was less snakes, he struck downwards on a snake and pierced its head.
At the moment he pierced the snake's head a snake on his right and one his left jumped on him fangs out.
He used his scythe to throw one away and managed to catch the other with his hand, he tightened his grip on the snake until its head exploded.
He heard many loud hiss and when he turned back towards the snake, there was already a dozen next to him, he decided to jump back to have time to think about something to fight them with more ease.
'I don't have AOE spells and even if there was one in the shop I don't have the souls to buy it. Maybe this will work.' Zach summoned a pretty powerful hell fire, it consumed him 5 mana points per minute, he then tried to coat his scythe with the flame.
Zach went towards the snake and sliced at them, each time he sliced a snake the other in the vicinity got heavily burned or died. With this method Zach could hit and even kill a bunch of snake with each swipe.
Zach was swinging his scythe left and right, reaping lives like the death he should be, he was almost unstoppable. If he didn't cleanly bisected the snake he was hitting it would burn to death the next instant.
If someone looked at this scene from afar he could swear that Zach was a madman slaying everything that came near him. At this time it seemed that Zach was born to kill everything that came on his path. And quickly of the original 50 snakes only a dozen remained.
As things were going good, Zach unconsciously let his guard down and a snake managed to jump on him and it was about to plunge its fang his thigh, the only thing he thought about to prevent it from biting him was using death gaze.
The snake could not take the death gaze and fainted on the spot, Zach avoided being bitten by not much and it instantly drew him out of the overconfidence he had built up in this fight, he should give his all until the end.
What's more because of all the Death gaze he used he started to be tight on mana, only 40 points remaining.
Not long after Zach finally slew the last snake, he was pretty tired but didn't forget to collect all the souls he could. During the fight he sank under notifications, now it was time to see how much he reaped from those snakes.
[Dind ! Host has killed mid rank 1 beast + 50 EXP]
...
[Dind ! Host has killed mid rank 1 beast + 50 EXP]
[Ding ! Host has level up !]
[Ding ! Host has level up !]
[Ding ! Host has collected 25 souls]
He was now level 15 and he had been able to collect the soul of half of the snakes. Zach wasn't sure about how he should put his system points, right now he had 20, he could put a skill level 3 or further improve his total mana.
Seeing that after upgrading death gaze the minimum cost went up to 20, he assumed that if he upgraded it to level 3 the minimum cost would be 30, however with the little mana pool he had this would be too much so in the end he decided to put all his system points in intelligence.
In the end he didn't improved his fire power but his stamina wheter it be maintaining the same power output or keeping a Hell fire outburst longer.
Now he had to take care of another problem, he had to regenerate his mana back, until now the only way he knew to get back some mana was to sleep but he wasn't confident enough to sleep in this place right now.
And even if he just got 200 more mana than before the fight he was only on the first floor and he wanted to be one hundred per cent ready before going deeper.
'System, how can I get my mana back ?' Zach had done the only thing he could think of to solve this dilemma.
[Ding ! Host should try to meditate, maybe your mana will come back like this.] This time the system answered right away but for Zach it was like it was trying to make fun of him which did not make him happy.
Though, he didn't say anything and sat in lotus position and calmed himself, he didn't completly shut off his senses just in case some beast were to get close to him.
After an hour Zach opened his eyes, he felt refreshed, even the slightest pain he felt before had disappeared and, when he checked, he had fully refilled his mana pool.
Zach got up and looked at every nook and granny of the room searching for anything that could be valuable.
'It's only the first floor, I wonder what is waiting me deep down this dungeon and what would I find.' Zach was a bit disapointed and excited at the same time, for now on this first floor he didn't find anything but it was only the begining.
"Time to see what this dungeon is made of." Zach walked towards the stair, he was ready to fight against whatever was waiting him down these.
