Chapter six
Speaking of problems... I'm in a hot Christmas problem. last week mum signed me up for the school yearly Christmas rehearsals, well you may think that's okay but this year... I 'm getting to sing as the lead.
It's not like it's a bad thing or anything but singing "lead" is so not my calling. I'm really not a terrible singer, in fact, I was the best singer back in my church and I've performed countlessly for the Christmas carols we have at home but, singing in front of an audience...worse still, The school audience.... yikes!!!
I tried to get mum to take my name out of the list but she wouldn't budge, instead she gives me that can do attitude and tells me..,
"No child of mine is a quitter".
Which I know it's a big lie. I'm a huge quitter, infact, I prefer quitting before it even starts and it's the same for everyone in that house.
I remember the first day mum decided to get the excerise sets for herself. Blabbing about how much weight she needed to cut off..At first, dad was reluctant to the idea but after much persuasive points from mum, he decided to just get them. Well to cut the long story short, I've only seen mum once on that thing -and it was the day she bought it.
After dinner, I head out to Max's to practice my so called "lead" singing. You're probably wondering max.. max.. max, why not jade's. but you see, me and max actually wanted to start a band once, when we was in kindergarten. So I feel max has more experience in this whole me- singing thing.
"Good evening auntie... is max home?" I asked max mother.
"If it isn't my little daughter in-law... max is at the garage, you can go meet him there".
In-law....I blushed as I remembered the word.... Did she really think of me as her daughter in-law? Max mum was really sweet if you ask me. Though, I knew she didn't really mean the daughter in-law part but, for her having the thought about it, I won't mind being her daughter in-law.
I met max at the garage, doing what I think was some work.
"Hey... babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, what brings you to my humble garage" max asked while holding the screw driver thingy.
"So don't I have the permission to see my husband again?"...I replied raising a brow
"Husband..., which husband?...as far as I remember, Tina, I really don't think I've asked you out yet".
"Well...max sweetie, I don't think it's necessary anymore. Your mum already sees me as her daughter in law".
We both burst out laughing... although I laughed too.., deep down I wished it were true.
"So now that I'm here, can we please practice for the Christmas festival".....I said cutting our laughter short.
"Christmas.... festival... rehearsal... wait...Tina, Don't tell me you're singing lead this year..... hahahahahaha"....max continued to laugh at me.
"Laugh all you want meanie"...and I made a face to show how annoyed I was.
"Okay... okayyyyyyyy.... sorry, I'm sorry. I'll bring my guitar so we can practice okay" max said and left the garage.
Few seconds later he was back with his guitar and two juice boxes, one pineapple and orange. Typical max, he knows my love for pineapple juices.
"Give me my pineapple juice"....I asked stretching my hand to grab it.
"Who told you it's yours?" Max replied feigning authority.
"Its mine... its mine.., max"...and immediately pretended to cry.
" Take...you cry baby"...max laughed throwing it towards me. I caught it and started sipping. After a few minutes of sipping my juice, I decided it was time to start. We quickly picked out the song and I started singing. Though it was fun, it was already getting late and I needed to head back home.
"Thanks so much..max, you really are the best. I love you"..... Okay that came out wrong and I couldn't help myself but blush at my own words.... (*﹏*;)
"Do you mean it?" Max asked me with all seriousness.. I was still shocked by this sudden question, when I felt max come closer to me..,
"Tina...did you mean it?"he asked again, but this time, almost like a whisper.....well, I was shocked at this and before I could get what was happening, I felt Max's lip approach mine.
I quickly drifted away....
"This is not right max, you're supposed to be in love with jade, not me"...I said as I grabbed my bag to leave.
