Chapter 9
I had just blew my friendship with jade, the only real friend I ever had. I knew I had to talk to max. What was the meaning of all these. What the hell was he tryna prove? I subconsciously mumbled all these things to myself without knowing when I bumped into someone.
"Haaa... Michael, it's you. I'm so sorry" I quickly apologized.
"Nah...no need, I didn't even notice we collided because I was busy staring at you. Do you know you're beautiful?"
" I'm really not in the mood for this nonsense, Michael. I have a lot on my hands right now."
"is there anyway you could tell me what the problem is?" he asked with seriousness.
Sensing the fact that he wants to start a conversation with me, I was already in a hurry to go. Lucky for him, he noticed it..,
"Sorry.. sorry... could we go to class together?"
Well there's actually no harm in that one, I thought...
"Okay."
We both headed for class. On reaching the class, we entered together. I could see the stares of some of the jealous girls but technically, it wasn't my concern.
"Today, we'll be talking about social groups and for your group project, you will be shared into groups of two to study about one another. This assignment is expected to be submitted tomorrow, for a class presentation. But since y'all are already seating in two's, I expect you to pair with your seating mate."
Well this was no surprise to me anymore.., can this day get even worse.
"So eventually you'll come over to my house" ...Michael asked grinning. He knew he had won. I agreed immediately left the class.
It's already 2:00pm and I still haven't talked to max. I really needed to see him, to settle this mess.
Ding dong...I heard the door bell ring at the Micheal's. Word was right, they were stinking rich alright. he even had a butler and everything. something most of us dreamt about, here, this was someone's reality. We quickly went to work asking each other questions.
"Let's begin"...I said
When you was in kindergarten what did you want to be?"
I glared back at him
"A pilot," he said
"When you was little, what inspired you to feel this way?"
He paused for a little while and answered,
"watching the birds fly".
I scribbled down something on my sheet.
"Next question. Do you still have that same wish you had in kindergarten?"
I paused back and waited for him. We both cracked and locked up eyes. His gaze lingered a little too long, not in a creepy way, but in a way that says...I'm not ready to let this moment go.
He finally answered..." yeah, if it were possible, I still have that same wish of being a pilot.
I felt strangely attracted to this nemesis of mine. Perhaps, I liked the way he thought about each question before answering them, and the way he smiled after answering each question.
He took out his paper.
"I bet I can answer your questions without even asking you. youve always wanted to be a chef, even till this day you still go around pretending to make some Jumbo's in the kitchen, when no one's watching. but you feel once you leave cressville you'll find someone who's better than you. so, you're scared of failure and that's why, when anyone ask you what you want to be you just shrug and say lawyer like your father. probably because you want him to be proud of you but, deep down that's not where your heart is".
I was dumbfounded. Michael never ceases to impress me. i quickly arranged my bag and prepared to leave, to avoid anymore conversation.
you're going, he stopped me.
yes. cause, I don't understand this whole stuff anymore. why are you suddenly being all nice to me? why do you want to be my friend suddenly? look, we've been in the same school for over some years now and, you've never even notice me. what changed?
yes, I know all of these whole thing looks a little fast and weird but, it's just how it is. I've been watching you for some while now, too stunned to do anything. Tina, Michael continued. you may think I'm probably being unserious but, I find you interesting and I want to get to know you even better.
this is not true, I replied him shaking my head. it's all too good to be true.
just give me a-
No.. I'm out of here. I can't do this..
