Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Mistake

Faye disappeared after that leaving the decorating to us. We decided to save the second tree that went upstairs for tomorrow, but after my shower I couldn't help myself. I set up the tree and started wrapping lights. "Why do you like Christmas so much?" I turned to see Faye holding two hot chocolates. She handed me one and I dropped the lights. "I'm not really sure if it's so much Christmas as the activities we do together." I smelt the got chocolate and it smelt weird, so I put it to the side. "Aren't you going to drink that?" My Mom yelled my name as I put the drink to my lips. "Put down the cup. Did you drink it?" I shook my head as she pulled my sister from the couch by her ear.

My Dad came in to a shit storm. "What the hell is going on Gem?" She slapped Faye and mind linked loud for Uncle Jacob. She straddled Faye and held her down until Uncle Jacob arrived in his boxers and Aunt Valor wearing shorts and a tank top her robe open swooshing behind her. "What the hell is going on?" Jacob roared. "Faye tried to poison Paisley with wolfsbane." She cried and tears streamed down her face. Uncle Jacob told my Dad to pack her a bag as he sniffed my cup. "Did you drink it?" He asked as he sniffed again.

"No it smelt weird, so I put it down." My Mom turned to me as she held my sister down. "Then why where you tipping it back?" I shrugged and looked down at Faye. "I didn't want to hurt her feelings." Uncle Jacob sat next to me. "Show me what happened before I got here." I placed my hand on his arm and thought about the events that lead up to this moment starting with me and the tree I wrestled with. When I was done I let my hand slide down to my side and curled up in a small ball. "Thank you."

His boys came in and tied Faye to the banister and sat next to me as the parents talked downstairs. "What are they going to do to me?" Faye asked as she leaned against the door. Archer and Nash looked st each other before answering simontaniously. "Kill you hopefully." Nash shook his head. "For someone who wants to be like us, you sure aren't playing your cards right." Archer nodded and looked towards Faye. "I think he might shun you I said getting a strange feeling." She shook her head. "Shun me? Where the hell would I go?" I shrugged and Dad came into view and untied Faye. "Go to your room I'll be right there."

She flew down the stairs and we all heard the new door Slam. She's leaving in the morning. I called Bri, told her we couldn't handle her anymore. That there was to much hate in her." We all nodded and the twins stood up. "We will take turns on watch so you can sleep Paise." I stood up. "You don't have to do that." The disappeared down the hall. "They are staying Paise." I stood and went to finish the tree. "I'll help you with that tomorrow go to bed Paisley." The look he gave me after told me not to argue as I made my way to my room.

Dad went to help Faye pack as he broke the news to her. "You can not do this to me. It was a mistake!" She yelled and a tear fell down my face. "How could she hate me that much?" I fell asleep the excitement of the Holiday's suddenly seeming dimmer then before.

When I woke up I got dressed in Jeans and a grey pull over sweater whit hearts on the elbow. I opened the door to find the twins outside of it. Nash was awake and looked up. He nudged his brother Archer who flew up. "Relax bro, Paisley is just up." He nodded and he stood. "We stay till Dad tells us to." He closed his eyes and leaned his head on the door. "Why don't you go lay in my bed Archer?" Then you two can switch. Nash shook his head. "I slept on the couch till about thirty minutes ago. I'm fine." He said as Archer picked himself up and dove into my bed.

"It was very nice of you to stay up for me." I said to the guys, but Archer already snored and so I closed the door. "I'm gonna go make breakfast for everyone." Nash stood and walked down the stairs with me. We pulled out eggs, bacon, sausage and English muffins. Nash happily hummed as we danced around each other. "You feeling okay Paise?" I nodded and we kept at it. Another thirty minutes and we served plates as my parents came down with Faye.

She looked like she didn't sleep well and her blonde hair was messy. Faye didn't say a word as I say her egg whites and a piece of bacon in front of her. She ate in silence only whispering a thank you. "I didn't think it would kill you." My Dad glanced at her. "I just thought it would make her human again for a while." She shrugged and played with the food on her plate. "It would have, and she would have felt drugged, out of control, and she would have been puking." Faye looked back down. When Bri didn't show up my Dad walked her down to Uncle Jacobs with her bags. The boys following behind.

When Dad came home I was standing on a ladder wrapping lights on the tree I started last night. "There's been a change of plans. Now the Alpha will stay here and a guard since we have two rooms available." I nodded as he stood on the other side and handed me the lights. "I never asked, but are you okay?" I shook my head and wrapped the lights. "Physically yes... Emotionally not really." I sighed as I wrapped the lights methodically. "I just want to know why?" He nodded as I handed him the lights. "We all do." My Dad said as he plugged in the next set and I climbed off the ladder.

We worked I'm silence after that finishing up the tree lights. "How did Mom know that I was going to drink it?" As I finished the tree and handed Dad the plug. He took it and plugged it in the wall allowing the tree to light up the room. "She gets feelings and sometimes premonitions." I nodded thinking how cool that would be. Mom came up and plopped on the floor opening the ornaments. "Thank you Mom, for last night." She smiles and opened her arms for me to hug her. "You're welcome Paisley. You are going to have to start being more careful now, in case she comes back." I nodded and she handed me one of my favorite ornaments.

The gold wolf shimmered and I always had a deep connection with it. Guess it was easy to see why now, after finding out I was a wolf. I placed it as high as I could in the middle of the tree. I hung a few more that my Mom handed me and then I switched with her to let her hang some. It was a small gesture, but I knew she appreciated it. I watched her and my Dad work together and knew I'd remember this day.

After we curled up on the couch under holiday blankets and watched our first Christmas movie of the season. Mom picked 'A Boy named Christmas', and we all cuddled together. My Mom laying between my father's legs. When the movie ended we all got a call from Uncle Jacob. "The Alpha is here so make your way over." I looked to my Mom and Dad and they looked nervous which made me fill with anxiety. We put boots on and climbed into my Dad's Jeep.

As we drove down the icy street my Dad held my Mom's hand. We where the last to arrive and they separated to get out. "Stay behind us until we move." My Dad mind linked me as we walked towards the house.
