Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Awake

I woke up in my bed. I felt weak, but I moved and hit something hard. I turned to see Derek laying next to me in pijama pants and no shirt. Aunt Valor sat in the chair her hands folded under her and her head on top fast asleep. I heard my Mom crying from the other room, and my Dad talking in low whispers. I moved down to the end of my bed and opened my door slightly. I walked to the sound of Mom and found her in the kitchen cooking. She turned and almost dropped the pan of cinnamon buns.

"Oliver." He turned to see me, they both looked exhausted and I walked over to them. "What happened? And what day is it?" Mom glanced at Dad. "Sweetheart that eggnog you drank was spiked with wolfsbane. Uncle Jacob thinks your sister spiked it and a few other foods that you eat. We went through everything, and got all new food. Derek hasn't left your side." I nodded and looked back to the honey buns. "It's Christmas Day?" My Dad nodded and I pouted. "You've been out cold almost six days. Your Aunt has been taking some of your pain." I nodded and felt my stomach grumble. "Am I still a wolf."

My parents looked at each other and shrugged. "We aren't really sure." I walked out side and opened the gate. I thought about my wolf and transformed. My body giving out and not allowing me to run. I collapsed on the stone walkway. "Oliver." My mom said as she opened the back door. My Dad picked me up and laid me on the couch. "You need to eat love bug. It takes a lot to change, but it looks like you are still a wolf." I smiled as he pet my head and covered me in a blanket. I woke up a little bit later to see my family eating and Archer brought me a plate. "Eat Paisley." He said as I devoured the food. "Slowly." Nash yelled as everyone laughed. Aunt Valor brought be a bowel of water and I lapped it quickly. "Good girl." She said as feet poinded down the stairs. "Where is she?" Boomed Derek's voice. My Aunt glanced down as Derek ran to the table scanning everyone. "Where is she?" I barked and everyone turned their heads toward me.

Derek made his way over and placed his hand on my head. "Thank the Goddess." He said as he crouched down by the sofa. "How stupid could you be drinking that?" I pulled away as he called me stupid. I was not stupid, and I groweld at him. My Aunt offered me the bowel as she tossed him a look. I drank again as Derek looked at me. Archer gave me another plate and I tore at it quickly. "She's gonna be okay." Archer said as he patted my back. Derek sat next to me and Jacob handed him a plate. "You need to eat too Alpha Derek." He nodded and took the plate. Derek watched as I struggled with the bacon. "Here." He said as he broke it into small pieces and fed them to me. "Easy." He said as I snapped his fingers.

"Ow!" I pulled away expecting him to react. "Lay down Paisley. I'm not mad." I laid back down further back and ate off my plate. "Maybe she's still mad at you." Archer laughed earning him a slap behind the head from my Aunt Valor. "Mind your business young man." She said as I felt the food ease my stomach. Derek offered me some of his eggs. I shook my head and laid down.

"Hey Paisley." My mother called and I got up to face her. "If you change back you can have a cinnamon roll." I jumped over the back of the couch and ran upstairs shifted and got dressed. I ran back to see Derek holding up a plate with two cinnamon buns on it. "If you forgive me I'll let you have mine too." I took one and walked around him. I shoved it in my mouth and poured a glass or orange juice in the kitchen. I smelt it and drank it down.

After breakfast we all opened our gifts and my family went home leaving my parents, me, Sloan, and Alpha Derek. I went to my room and grabbed a suit. I changed and headed past everyone. Sloan got up and followed me out. "You ever going to talk to him again?" I slid my board out and waxed it. He took my Mom's board and watched me doing the same to her board. "Derek ask you to talk to me?" I glared as I ran the wax down the board. "So what of he did, would it make a difference?" I shrugged and Regis walked but behind me.

"I can't wait to get off this beach and go home." He grumbled as he tried to get the sand off his feet. "He's sending you back in two days Reg, calm down." Sloan said as he finished the board. "Will you tell me about your home? Well soon to be our home?" I asked as Sloan perked up. "Teach me to surf and I'll tell you." I looked between them. "Okay come on. Reg you coming?" He shook his head no and we left him a shore. He sat and watched us. "He hates the water, hates the sand here." I nodded and lifted the board above my head. "Carry it like this till we pass waves hip high. Then we are going to lay on the board and paddle out."

He followed my instructions until lunch  and then rode his first wave in. I yelled and clapped as he tossed a fist up in the air. "Alpah I'm surfing!" He yelled and made a whop sound as he jumped off. Derek smiled at Sloan and then looked at me. He nodded before saying lunch was ready. Derek watched as I paddled into the next wave and rode it in. Sloan already putting away the board and drying off. I locked the shed, and walked towards Derek. "Want to talk before we eat?" He looked down and Reg walked around me before ducking inside

"I don't like when you are mad at me." Derek grumbled as he slid a towel around me. "I wasn't to fond of you being mad at me either." I clutched the towel. "I really am sorry for loosing my cool. I shouldn't have grabbed you like that." I shrugged and he pulled me closer tilting my head up. "Don't shrug and don't look away. It was wrong and we both know it." I nodded and he dropped his hand. "Can I hold you?" I nodded and he wrapped his hands around me and picked me up. I wrapped my legs around him.

"Sloan says you asked about our home?" I nodded and he pulled me down to his chest. "Did he tell you about it?" His smell made me calm down. "No I taught him to surf to get information out of him." Derek let out a deep laugh. "It's beautiful there, and there's a coast not to far. I'm sending Reg home to start building us a vacation home there. I figured surfing might be to much to give up for you." I smiled and kisses him. "Thank you Derek." I kissed him harder and nipped his lip. He groweled and held me tighter. "The other night I thought I had lost you, and then I thought I was watching you die." He shook his head and buried it in my chest. "I'm okay Alpha Derek." Hot tears streamed down his face. "Derek." He lifted his face and invited away the tears. "No matter how mad I get know I'd fight my way back to you." He crushed me to him and I ran my arms down his back.

"Just don't reject me okay?" I pulled back abruptly. "Reject you?" He nodded and looked out to the ocean. "Rejection is rough for any wolf to go through, but worse for an alpha. You state your mates name and that you reject them. The bond between the two break and it feels supposedly like your world. Your soul shatters. Usually your wolf dies, and if you're lucky, you live as a human." I gasped and shook my head. "I don't think I could ever do that." He nuzzled into my neck.
