"Krieee!"

It screeched after seeing the wooden shelves that barricaded the door.

It wasted no time at all before scratching and cutting through the wooden shelves.

Its claws were definitely harder and sharper than we thought as it effortlessly began breaking the barricades we made.

Thinking that I had to do something, I grabbed the iron longsword from the table.

...Wow, this is heavier than I thought.

But then Reika suddenly took it from me and began easily swaying it.

"I'll do it."

With that, she walked towards the goblin.

Seeing Reika approaching, the goblin screeched and stopped cutting through the barricades.

It then licked its lips while looking towards... me?

Shiver.

Holy crap... I felt shivers down my spine.

Reika's eyes narrowed but she continued to advance and made a thrusting motion.

She stabbed through the gaps of the wooden shelves.

"Heup!"

But then the goblin leaned backwards. Reika's eyes widened in surprise but before she could react, the goblin then grabbed on the iron longsword.

"Skrrieeee!!!!"

Shit!

I grabbed Anna-chan's dagger that was left on the table before moving to help Reika.

Reika hastily pulled her longsword but the goblin was pulled along with it. Because of that, the goblin's entire torso made it through the gap.

"Kriee!! Krieee!!"

It then grabbed Reika's longsword with two hands and began pulling it towards itself, making Reika be pulled closer to the goblin.

The goblin opened its wide mouth, intending to bite Reika's head.

Reika still seemed to be in a state of shock or maybe she was hesitating whether to let go of her sword or not.

Either way-

"Reika!!"

From behind her, I pulled her right shoulders backwards and with the dagger in my right hand, I stabbed the bastard's through its mouth.

"-Kriie?!"

The goblin looked surprised after the dagger smoothly made its way inside his throat.

It went way too deep to the point where my entire hand was inside the goblin's maw.

As soon as I realized that, I let go of the dagger and backed away.

Chomp!

Its sharp jagged teeth shut closed not a second later after I withdrew my hand. The goblin glared hatefully towards me before choking on its own throat.

It coughed blood before becoming limp with its chest and arms hanging from the gap of the book shelf.

I dropped on my ass again but then groaned after feeling a stinging pain from my right shoulder.

"Aah..."

Reika snapped out of her daze and moved beside me.

"A-are you alright?!"

"I'm fine.. I'm fine." I reassured her while taking sharp breaths.

Her face became downcast as she said, "I'm sorry... Jin-kun... I can't believe I froze like that..."

Her voice was low and her eyes looked a bit regretful. I could tell that she truly meant her apology because she was a prideful woman who almost never apologizes.

But just because she was prideful, that didn't mean she was stupid.

Right now, she understands and admits that if it hadn't been for me, she would have certainly been injured.

Looking at her apologetic face, I chuckled lightly, feeling quite good that this usually cold and prideful woman was genuinely apologizing like this.

I'm gonna burn this image in my head.

But then again, I'm not that much of an asshole so I didn't let her feel bad for too long.

"...No need to apologize and just say thanks for preventing your face from being ripped off."

Reika softly nodded and looked at me in the eyes. "...Thanks."

"Anytime."

The two of us smiled at each other and remained like that for a few seconds.

But just then-

"Kyaa! Help us! Somebody please! Help!"

We heard a high-pitch scream coming from the hallway.

I didn't notice when Anna-chan arrived beside us but she was now looking at the destroyed door, allowing us to see the hallway.

We heard several distant screeches of the goblins, making us worried whether we should check it out or not.

But just as I was about to stand up, the voices shouted once more.

"Ayano- Get back here you bitch! Help me!"

A girl then passed by our door but then she peeked back after seeing us inside.

She was breathing heavily while beads of sweat fell from her face. Her blazer and black knee stockings were riddled with scratches.

If I recall correctly, this girl was the popular kind-hearted girl of our class. I remember her first name was Ayano but what was her last name again?

Anyway, she had a cut on her cheek where she left unwiped, allowing blood to continue trickling down her cheek.

"Haa... Haa.. Haa..."

She saw the limp body of the goblin on the gaps of the shelves but after seeing us inside the room, she didn't hesitate to enter and go through the other gaps of the barricaded book shelves.

"Hey wait-" Reika seemed to want to say something but Ayano-san became stuck through the gaps.

It appears that her waist was rather... well endowed just like her large chest.

The screeches of the goblins resounded from the hallways once more and she must've seen a glimpse of a goblin from the corner of her eye because she started to hastily pull herself in.

She had a terrified and panicked expression- completely different from the gentle and kind smile she always had.

Nonetheless, she still looked pretty even in a situation like this.

...What the hell is wrong with me.

I got up to my feet but I still haven't decided whether to help her or not.

Looking at us, Ayano-san looked desperate and begged with tears streaming down her face.

"P-please help me... please!"

Meanwhile, Reika sighed after hearing the goblins getting closer and closer.

"Let's help her. It's too late to avoid the monsters now... this bitch brought it to us already."

After she said that, Reika and I walked towards Ayano-san and helped her get in.

All this happened within a span of three minutes right after we killed the goblin earlier.

As soon as we pulled her in, She suddenly jumped towards me with her entire weight, making me fall on my butt.

With an erratic breathing and trembling body, she burried deeper to my chest while mumbling apologies.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry..!"

I didn't know who she was apologizing to but then we heard more goblins screeching in the hallway along with the scream of a female voice.

The scream immediately died down and it didn't take a genius to realize what happened.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

I didn't know what else to do so I thought of looking for help towards Anna-chan and Reika.

But the two seemed to ignore me while staring beyond the barricades and into the hallways.

The two had a serious gaze as Reika stood in a stance, holding the longsword with her two hands.

Anna-chan also raised her palm, ready to launch a fireball.

They were preparing to face the expected monsters.

I wanted to get up but this woman wouldn't get off me.

"Ayano-san could you let go of me?" I asked nicely and patientlt.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

But my words remain on deaf ears as she continued to mumble her apologies.

This girl... she looks like she's been thoroghly traumatized.

Her body wouldn't stop trembling and her tears started to wet my blazer which I put on earlier so I didn't have to walk barechested.

I could tell that she did something she feels deeply guilty but if I don't do anything. She'll keep being a hindrance like this.

Which is why I wrapped my arms around her and gently began caressing her back.

After a few seconds, her body stopped trembling but she didn't stop mumbling her apologies.

Did she betray one of her friends or something? I mean it couldn't have been as bad as I did which was when I led that plump classmate of us to die.

...Now that I think about it... I just indirectly murdered someone.

Huh...

And I'm not feeling anything at all.

...Is something wrong with me? Or did my class affect me in any way?

"Krieee!!!"

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard an unmistakable screech from the doorway.

Reika gripped her sword and prepared to strike but then the goblin ran past our room.

Remaining absolutely quiet, we continued to stare through the gaps of the barricade made of bookshelves.

"""Krieee!! Krrieee!"""

We held our breaths after three to four goblins ran past our room again.

After that, we remained tensed for about five minutes or so but it fortunately, it seems that there were no more goblins.

"Phew..."

I exhaled in relief before calming myself down.

Reika also sighed as she put down her blade and walk back to the table, taking a seat on one of the chairs.

Anna-chan followed behind her and took the seat next to her. She slumped on the table while covering her face with her arms.

We just remained quiet while feeling relieved that nothing happened.

I speak for the three of us that we were all scared and nervous as hell.

Reika might have been acting confident but seeing her reaction from the goblin earlier, I could tell that she was just as scared as me.

Well, at least she was brave enough to face those bastards.

Earlier, when those goblins passed by our room, I could tell that she was looking to redeem herself.

But she must not have noticed that her arms were trembling.

Anna-chan also wasn't that much different since I could tell from her pale face that she was also afraid of those goblins.

All in all, we were still very much afraid of this new world.

No amount of superpower or supernatural events is going to compensate the horror we were currently going through.
