Chapter 18 - Lunch with the Cullen's

"Aha, so nice and warm to be home." Mel sighed, as they got into the house.

The mansion was quiet like usual and Beatrice made her way to her room.

Although they had taken their breakfast in the Lord's mansion, it was past noon.

"I heard Mr. Prickle talk about some engagement party between Mr. Soas and Miss Athena, thought it was all a rumor."

"I knew you'd follow me here, take a break dear sister, and rest from the rumors," Beatrice said as she settled on the bed.

"Didn't you see how they two were so touchy at the Lord's banquet?" Said Mel as she climbed the bed to jump on it.

"I did sister and it was not my business to ponder about it." Answered Beatrice to have Mel snort.

"The woman is such an actress, accusing Lady Herbert about sleeping with a man that was not her husband and yet touching a man that has not been hers yet." Mel accused.

"You can hold that tongue of yours till they are finally in the mansion, seeing that Grandpa had invited Miss Athena and her family to lunch," Beatrice said, to have Mel huffed.

"And besides it would be soon enough, cause noon is fast approaching to...

A knock came on the door and Beatrice snapped her head to the door to sniff.

"Come in."

"Good afternoon Grandpa." Mel greeted, winking at the older man as he got in the room.

"Where are your manners Melinda, drop your legs down the bed." The man scolded.

"They Cullen's Will be here in a few minutes girls, freshen up and come down for lunch."

"I hate their daughter," Beatrice replied truthfully.

"Not, even close to how I hate her," Mel added with a smile.

"You will have to eat with them whether you like them or not." The older man said, shaking his head as he walked away.

Seeing how the sane one which was Beatrice hated the girl, he just hoped the lunch would go well.

"Aha! You do hate the girl as well." Mel chuckled.

"Not as you hate her."

"Oh please, there's no need to act all nice all the time sister." Mel smiled, as she winked at her sister.

"You heard Grandpa Melinda, go and freshen up. You don't want your dear friend Athena talking about how you smell ginger and possibly garlic." Beatrice said to have Mel laugh.

"I would give her the bite of her life, she'd regret it."

The table stood at the center of the mansion's living room, the table clothes shone brightly, as different delicacies were dropped on the table.

Beatrice sighed, as she walked to the table with Mel who walked behind her sluggishly.

"Good day Mr. Cullen's, and Mrs. Cullen's." She greeted, giving the couple a slight bow before taking her seat.

"Hmm, how have you been Beatrice, and you too Melinda?" The woman said, to have Beatrice smile.

"We have been fine Milady, your color radiates every day," Beatrice said.

"Ha please, don't flatter me. Everyone knows and can see how your skin shines brightly." The woman complimented, them as they began to eat.

"Her skin shines because she's a vampire Mom, don't compliment too much.." The young Miss of the Cullen's said, with a huff.

"And who asked you to jab your mouth to the matter Lady Athena?" Mel was quick to retort.

"And who said I couldn't, seeing that your sister here is all about talk and pleasantries." The young Miss said, shaking her head as she glared at Beatrice.

"No wonder your forehead looks bigger than your head, cause you jab into matter that does not concern you," Melinda said.

"Girls stop this squabble." The older woman yelled, and once more the table was quiet.

"No one is at fault here Mother, Melissa here thinks her heart is bigger than mine thereby calling me a heartless wolf." Athena began once more after the talk had died down.

"Ha! I only said that your butt is too bigger than normal hereby making the men run away. I pity Mr. Soas who thinks he can cope with it...I look forward to the day you suffocate him with that back side of yours." Mel was sharp with her words, saying as she looked at the young Miss.

"Be careful what you speak," Athena mumbled, her eyes shooting daggers.

"Oh be careful who you point fingers to."

Melinda clapped her hands to clean the dirt and get up, only to find out that the elders had left the table leaving only the three of them.

"Enjoy the meal Sister dear," Mel said to Beatrice who gave her a nod, turning around to meet with Athena's eyes on her "you might as well choke on the drink and let it hang on your throat."

Seeing as Mel had left the table, Beatrice didn't wait any longer for the young Miss to say a thing.

Getting up from her seat and arranging the few plates on her side..she heard Athena cough.

"Don't you have maids to do this kind of job?"

"The maids are human as well, and they have feelings as well..and as a lady, you have to do something alone Miss Athena..excuse me," Beatrice said, picking up her plate and about to head out.

"I saw you going into the Lord's room last night, and I have been so curious." Beatrice froze, turning around to meet Athena's eyes.

"Wasn't that you sister?"

"I can never be your sister, you're nothing but a dirty witch who wraps half of the unmated men around her finger, Beatrice answered to have her face fall.

"Hypocrisy kills a man, you're just like me..what did you go into the Lord's room to do?"

"I can never be like you, if you don't stop talking this very moment I'll hang you on the chandelier!" Beatrice stated clearly, moving close to the girl to see her shudder.

"You're threatening me?"

"I'm trying to let your empty skull know that, I and the Lord are nothing other than good friends and he doesn't have those nonsense feelings you speak of," Beatrice said and turned on her heels.
