Chapter 20
Beatrice didn't mind speaking with uncultured people, her parents had taught her better.
It was never a good thing to make people feel bad because they had no manners but for the woman she was staring at..she knew this one would never want to learn.
The woman looked so proud even with a glance.
Her shoulders were held high and her beret that didn't even match her dress was nearly covering her face and her makeover was out of line.
She looked like a confused human out to find out how nature ran its course.
But of course, Beatrice still smiled at the lady even when she didn't smile back.
"Lady Herbert, it's a pleasant surprise to find you at the Lord's Mansion. The rumor about you going around and flirting with men had been stopped..thank God, it didn't damage your name." Lady Sophie said.
"Hmm, thank God it had been stopped. I honestly was not happy as some people decided to taint my name. A poor me." Lady Herbert said, to have Beatrice smile.
"There is nothing to worry about Lady Herbert since you didn't do such...the rumors were just baseless stuff some pathetic women sit around to create, how unfortunate that we still have such women in today's era," Beatrice said, clicking her tongue to have Lady Herbert nod to her word.
"True words Lady Beatrice." Herbert smiled.
They were already in the Mansion, and Lady Sophie didn't look pleased with Beatrice.
"I wonder who those women are Lady Beatrice."
"No one knows Lady Sophie, I mean..if Lady Herbert couldn't even figure it out.. how can I?" Beatrice chuckled to have the woman frown.
"You have to mind your mouth Lady Beatrice, why do I feel like it was directed to someone in particular."
"Oh please I never mentioned anybody's name Lady Sophie, or is it guilt that is eating you up? True to the adage that says; Conscience never dies."
"Enough there you untamed brat, how dare you talk nonsense."
"Careful Milady, we're in the Lord's mansion now...and the Lord would be so disappointed to see us fighting," Beatrice said again.
"Are you sure? Or you don't want him to be disappointed in you? I know why you're here, to please him so he'd take you as a mistress." Lady Sophie said.
"If I wanted Lord Lady Sophie, it would be so easy to get him."
"Ha Beatrice, don't be so flattered...the Lord, after all, has many more women in his arms right now than to look at you."
Beatrice knew the woman didn't like her, and she was set to cause trouble.
The Lord's mansion was quiet, unlike the day they had come for the banquet.
"It is okay Lady Sophie, I am not a desperate kind that would want to do anything possible for him to notice me. The Lord and I are not in that kind of relationship." Beatrice smiled, to have the woman fume.
"You speak as if you're talking to a particular person Beatrice, didn't your mother teach you manners?"
"Oh, my mother did Milady but she never said anything about answering people with no dignity and Shame, she only taught me about other things." Beatrice laughed, drinking her wine as she did.
"You insolent...
"Careful how you speak Milady, we're in the Lord's mansion and he doesn't like people cussing in his mansion, especially those who are desperate to please him." Her words were sharp, smiling as she talked to the woman.
"Lady Herbert, I never knew people like this existed. Ha, I need to start talking to more people to see who I would acquaint with." Beatrice mumbled.
"You never can tell, till they open their mouth and spurts out rubbish Lady Beatrice. Now, that is why I always call for a makeover in m mansion." Lady Herbert nodded, smiling at Beatrice.
"I will report you all to the Lord, wait till you're sent home." The woman stormed away, cussing under her breath as she did.
"That woman is something else, couldn't stand a fight when you gave her one." Lady Yuan chuckled, as she lead the women to a room...the very same room they had stayed in during the Lord's banquet.
"Lady Beatrice, have you heard the latest news? Some people said Mr. Soas called off the marriage with Lady Athena. The woman was busy sleeping with everything she saw." Lady Yuan was first to speak as they entered the room.
"Ha, I wonder how she became a relative of mine. The woman is so uncultured, to begin with." Beatrice shook her head.
"She's a wolf Beatrice, how are you two related?" Lady Herbert asked.
"Beats me, Lady Herbert, I too don't know. I bet Melinda will turn to a killer soon because of that woman, always butting in when she's not needed."
"The weather is nice don't you think? Should we go for a walk in the forest behind the castle, it'll be fun." Lady Yuan said, and Beatrice nodded quickly.
"What about the Lord? I haven't seen him ever since we arrived." Beatrice asked.
"The Lord will be here soon, he left for a meeting in Nalish. His cousin Niklaus had invited him for something. I get he's on his way." Yuan said, to have the other two Ladies nod.
"We will get some things for the picnic in the forest Beatrice, you can go look around the castle," Yuan said, and Beatrice nodded.
They were going for a picnic instead of a walk, how great!
Beatrice smiled, walking down the stairs.
The castle had a symbol engraved on each door and window and some parts where it could not be seen but her eyes were not that of others.
They seemed familiar but she could not recall where.
"Well, Isn't she the one and only Lady Beatrice? Seems your gang has forsaken you." It was the very same woman but with companions that looked like her.
Uncultured and Stupid.
"Not as mother nature as left you, Lady Sophie, my gang had gone to get something we'll use for something," Beatrice said, to have the woman's eyes swell.
"How dare you, you rat..."
"Ha! Careful what you speak Milady. For all I know I am no rat and now if you'll excuse me. I have something important to do." Beatrice said, smiling at the other women that gave her a death glare.
"She's such a peacock with her red eyes like a pig."
Shaking her head, she looked up to see a figure standing on the second floor of the Mansion.
It was the Lord!
