Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

The birds tweeted as the trees swung by, how could the weather be so cool on a summer morning, Emma thought,"hey you're up?" Miles asked as he slipped into her room, "morning" Emma breathed ," how long have you been up?" He asked further sitting beside her on her bed, "not up to an hour" she said dryly yawning, "dad is out, you can tell he wanted me to come along as well" he was laughing, "well I just pretended to have been really snoring when he came by," he said, "what a son !" Emma said smiling, "but come to think of it,dad have been really busy lately" Emma said thoughtfully, " I guess he wants to sell out his business..." Miles said with a trace of laughter in his voice, Emma pushed him, "you know dad would never do that" she said soberly," he's spent most of the years of his life building that" she was saying, "what's up with Ryan?" Miles asked, "he's just good" Emma said briefly, she wouldn't dare to give him further details as of now if she didn't want to break up with Ryan, "I mean what's up with that guy?". Emma sat up, "oh his business I heard he opened another branch of his dad's company in New Zealand, he'd be going there shortly" Miles smiled, "New Zealand....(Miles smiled)I don't know whether it's his wealth that's making you still remain with him " he said, "no it can't be"Emma said, "rich people shouldn't be falling for fellow rich people"Miles said, looking at Emma who picked up her phone trying to distract herself from what he was saying,"so stop falling for him already". How Emma wished to tell Miles how she was so confused about her relationship with Ryan, at one point in her life she'd feel as though she loved him so much and then at another point, she just sees him as a mere stranger. Surely she'd tell him about this and let him conclude things in whichever way he chose.

Someone opened their door, it was mum,"you two come have breakfast" delighted enough. Miles stood up on sitting down at the dining room not seeing any food on the table turned around to see mum in the kitchen, she had meant for them to come and help her prepare the breakfast. Emma helped mum as she prepared the breakfast. The makes of tea, jam and sauce they had on their table was unbelievable.

"Are you going to work today?" Mum asked Milesas they had their breakfast, "uhm yes.... likely when I've finished up somethings at the studio, I'd go from their to work" Miles was saying, "you and this studio thing, don't let your dad find out please" mum said rather persuasively. "Why....?"Miles said carelessly, mum frowned, "because if he finds out, he'd fire you not remembering that you're his son". Miles gave out a loud weird laughter, "Emma would you be going anywhere today" she asked looking at Emma, "no" Emma answer almost immediately, Mrs Pete dropped her fork, "you don't want to see some places new in town?" Mum asked for she didn't like Emma always staying by herself at home. For she had had depression issues while she was in high school, the reason why she had gone to close to nine high schools. Emma sighed she knew why mum was being persuasive but she didn't have such problems anymore she thought. "No mum"she said glumly,"well why not?" Mum frowned with curiosity, "or you could come to my office and get plenty of work to do" mum offered, "no either" she said lazily taking her food in chunks. Mrs Pete becoming a bit irritated, "okay ...I'm off to work" she stood up and as soon as mum left, Miles breathed, 'mum's so worrisome, don't you want to do this...why wouldn't you do this, why wouldn't you do that?... It was always one thing or the other with mum around,' Miles thought. It wasn't her fault after all, it was dad's, he had made his wife suit so much into his class that she became irritated anytime the kids slacked in behaving and acting like their societal class.
