Ophelia flinched the moment the sun hit her. She covered her face with her hands as she tried to squint so that she could see clearly.
The door behind her closed and she turned to see if the guards were there with her had left and they had.
It was her time of exploration but yet again she wondered why they had left her alone. They were sure there was nowhere to go.
She started to walk trying to see anything that she could find but there was nothing. Beyond the building where she was, it was just a land full of nothing.
On one side she could see a vast land that contained trees. Maybe that was the place that she had seen in her dreams.
She was now sure that she had left that place before or maybe she was just convincing herself for the dream to be true but if it was then werewolves did exist.
On the other side, there seemed to be a water body. Maybe a lake or the sea passed by but she couldn't be sure what it was given the fact that she didn't know even the country she was in let alone what year it was.
How had she got here?
It was a question that lingered in her brain as she walked by the land trying to see anything familiar the dry land didn't give her much of an idea from what she had seen so far the land had never been inhabited before.
Maybe she could go to the sea and swim but what if she didn't know how to swim?
She felt like some pathetic girl who just existed. Either way, she was going to run to the sea and see if she would drown.
It was a joke in her head but some people did not want her to drown.
Mrs. Smith the doctor looked closely at the footage in Infront of her and wondered what Ophelia was going to do.
She knew that Ophelia couldn't swim and just hoped that she wasn't stupid enough to try and go to the sea to swim.
In Ophelia's head, she wondered what would happen if she drowned. She looked behind her towards the large building where she had emerged from.
If they thought she could run away they would not have let her stay outside by herself which meant that she could shave stand immiswimmingcthe doctor kknoknowingt her but then again it wasn't like she was her mother or her friend in her life before there so there was no way that she could know if she knew to swim or not.
Maybe it wasn't a must for her to swim. She sat again on the sand as the water washed her feet as it swept by.
When was the last time she had taken a shower?
She took her hand and tried to sniff her armpits and she almost choked on the whiplash of air that hit her nose.
It had been a while since she had last taken a shower.
She lay down facing the sun and could see birds flying by and wished that she was them. If only she had been a bird then she could go anywhere she wanted to go too.
Then maybe she could try to the sun and know if she could survive it but she knew that she couldn't only someone stupid would do something like that.
As the sun hit her a memory flashed across. She was lying in a field but she wasn't alone. She couldn't see his face but he said something.
"I promise I won't let them do you any harm ", he said and kissed her hand.
The headache that hit her after was so immense. As she held her hands to her head hoping for it to calm down her eyes started getting blurry.
What was happening? Was it the effect of the drugs?
She stood up and started walking back but each step became harder and harder and as she was about to fall she saw two figures approach her and they held her before she fell.
____________
There was a blinding light and she was lying on a bed only this time she wasn't tied.
On one of her hands, there was a drip with contained blood, and on the other hand, another water drip.
She could hear voices. She was sure it was a man and a woman and they seemed to be arguing.
"She is getting weaker and weaker every day don't you see that ", the man was saying and she could swear that she had heard that voice somewhere but trying to force her mind to remember wasn't going to help.
"We will increase her meals and the iron pills to see if there will be an improvement but am not stopping this ", said the other person and she recognized the voice immediately.
"Can't the project wait for a little longer I know you're desperate to find a cure but this isn't helping if she gets sicker we just are one step back again ", the man said?
" Ooh you think am the only one who wants the cure, don't you? Why the hell are you here then? Don't tell me you're scared of those things out there ", the doctor said as she laughed hysterically.
"No, but what progress will there be if she dies, stop the tests on her for a while will you ", the man said.
"This is my institution, this is my project if you don't like the way I do things then leave. I didn't get here so that a man can tell me what to do and not what to do. You're dismissed, I want to examine her ", the doctor said and. her torn Ophelia knew from her tone she was not one to be questioned.
The door slammed shut and she knew the other person in the room was gone so she had to stop pretending like she was asleep.
She moved which startled the doctor who came immediately to her side to check if she was okay.
