The woods were thick and no matter how much she ran she still wasn't leaving them. It was like she was in a maze and no matter which direction she took she came back to the exact spot every single time.
She heaved and sat down and took a sip of water from the water bottle that was tucked on the side of his pants. His running shoes were covered in mud and she wondered where it had come from given the fact that it was pure soil on the ground she was standing on.
She started hearing noises and wondered where they were all coming from. They sounded like howls but where were they coming from?
She started moving in the direction where the voices were coming from and there was a clearing. The weird thing was that it had not been there before.
The sight in Infront of her made her think that she was either losing her mind or this was all just a hallucination.
Werewolves were standing in front of a body that had now been eaten and only some parts of it were remaining.
She panicked and as she moved back to leave she stepped on a branch and immediately what seemed like the leader of the pack turned to look at her.
He started moving slowly to where she was and she struggled to move and start running but it felt like she was stuck in the same spot.
She let out a scream and all the other werewolves turned and started running to where she was. As the leader pounced on her she could see her life flash in Infront of her and she just closed her eyes.
She was ready to go there was no way she could outrun all of them when she couldn't even lift her leg.
She felt a ping of pain on her leg and assumed that she had been bit and waited for something else to happen but it went completely silent.
The sound of something brought her back to her senses and as she opened her eyes she was somewhere else.
The same room she had been in earlier on her bed which was now soaked in sweat.
It was all a dream she told herself as she tried to calm down.
What was that dream though?
Since when had she started seeing werewolves it looked so real like her brain could remember something like that ever happening but then it was also not there.
It was like she was making herself go mad every passing day.
It couldn't be true though, werewolves didn't exist, she tried to convince herself.
She looked at the door and there was a tray with food only this time round it wasn't bread like the last meal had been.
There was a bowl of rice, peas, and eggs on the side with a glass of water.
She then wondered then why she was able to remember some things and couldn't remember others.
Was her brain choosing the things to remember or was it trying to suppress some memories because they would hurt her?
There were the pills she had taken the day before and she wondered what was their work. It was still weird how every time her brain seemed to like start afresh as if nothing had happened before.
Could it be the pills? She asked herself so she made a mental note of leaving one behind and hiding it under her pillow and checking it the following day.
There were three pills in the container so she took them but him one under her tongue. She knew that someone was watching her if she was sick they would put a camera somewhere to see if she hurt herself.
After putting the pill under her pillow she took her meal and lay down wondering what she was going to ask the next time someone came into her room.
What was this place? Was it a government research area?
But at the back of her mind, she was still thinking about the dream she had. It didn't feel like a dream.
She had felt the pain. You couldn't feel it in a dream. She knew very well that she had bits o she decided to check her leg where she had felt the pain.
It was clear something had happened to her cause there was a mark on her leg only she couldn't know what had given her the mark since it had already healed.
What if it was a part of her memory? What if she was trying to forget things on purpose?
Then again how bad could her memories be for her not to want to remember anything that had happened to her before?
Was the place she was even real or had she just made her brain think that it was?
She couldn't be dead though because then she wouldn't have been able to it hit then to think of it there was no mirror in the room.
What did she even look like?
In a matter of seconds, she had turned her brain to look like a spider web and for some reason as the doctor watched her through her computer, a smile appeared on her face.
Everything was working the way she had wanted it to. The stimulation had worked perfectly it was just a matter of time before she knew how strong her brain was and if she could be able to fight the stimulations that were happening.
The main thing was if she would be able to distinguish between the truth and illusion.
She left the room and entered the lab and disconnected the machine that was connected to Ophelia's body ending the stimulation.
_____________
Ophelia woke up in her room and looked around and there was no one in it. At that exact moment, the door opened and some men entered the room.
"Stand up ", they told her and she did as she was told and wondered what this was all about.
The pills, there was something about the pills but still could t figure out what it was all about.
What pills?
