Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Evie sat on the bed with her fingers interlocked, thinking about her conversation earlier with her husband, she heaved deeply knowing that this marriage would never work out.

"Ma'am," she heard Alexa's voice.

"How may I help you?" Evie asked, her gaze landed on Alexa immediately she asked the question.

"I was thinking, how about we take a walk around the house, there are still many places you have not seen and I know you would love them," Alexa stated.

Evie wanted to reject the offer but she knew she would be bored to death if she did that, so she was practically accepting the offer.

"Let's go," Evie dryly said as Alexa led the way.

Using the elevator, Alexa took Evie to the sixth floor, which was the top floor.

The top floor was ravishingly beautiful, it had glass-like structure with paintings hanging on the wall.

"Wow" Evie subconsciously muttered, she never knew that the house had such a place like this.

Alexa pushed the giant double door open, and then she and Evie made their way in.

"Whoa! This is fascinating!" Evie swirled as she spoke.

"So there is a music theatre in this house?!" Evie asked as she rushed to sit before the grand piano.

Evie began to play the piano as she sang along with it.

Alexa only smiled, watching Evie sing and play the piano, her voice was really good and it was harmonious, it could bring peace to one's soul.

"You have a good voice," Alexa complimented Evie when she finished her song.

"Thank you," Evie appreciated with a smile

"I never knew Ezekiel had this place in his house, does he like my music like me?" Evie could not help but ask.

"My master visits here occasionally, especially when he wants time alone," Alexa replied

Evie did not comment on what she said, she only took a guitar and played it. The soft sound from the guitar filled the entire theatre and then her beautiful voice accompanied it.

Evie spent about two hours playing songs with the guitar and piano, she had a lovely time as well as Alexa, who listened to her songs, for goodness sake! she needed to be in the music industry!

"Any other fascinating place?" Evie asked and Alexa nodded her head in agreement.

"This is the library," Alexa opened the door, walking in with Evie.

"This place is nice, well, I am not a huge fan of books, but I do read at my leisure time, romance novels though," Evie stated.

"I am obsessed with books, it is as if it is my destiny," Alexa said sincerely.

Evie's gaze swept the entire library, it had lots of books which filled it and it looked spectacular.

Evie walked further into the library, while Alexa strode behind her.

"we should not be here" Alexa suddenly announced, she did not like the fact that Evie was walking deep into the library, she was not supposed to be in this part of the library.

"Why?" Evie asked, facing her.

"Because this is my master's favourite place" Alexa lied, well it was not entirely a lie, Ezekiel liked to visit this part of the library.

"And just because it is his favourite part of the library does not mean I can not visit this part," Evie said with much audacity in her tone.

Evie subconsciously took a book from one of the shelves, it was dusty and old, so she had to clean the top of the book with her palm to see the title.

'BEYOND THE HUMAN EYES'

'What a catchy title?' Evie said inwardly, when she tried to open the book, Alexa snatched it away from her hands.

"What the hell?!" Evie yelled as she turned to face Alexa with great anger reflecting in her eyes .

"Ma'am, I am sorry, but you can not read this book else you would have nightmares, it's too horrifying," Alexa told her.

Evie's lips curved up, forming a smile on her beautiful face.

"Are you concerned about me having nightmares? No need to worry because I have watched a lot of horror movies and read a lot of horror books," Evie proudly stated.

'Only if you know that all those horror books and movies you watch are acted and not real, this book you are about to read is more terrifying,' Alexa wanted to say out loud but kept mute.

"Can I have the book?" Evie asked, tired of Alexa's attitude.

"No," Alexa refused to cause Evie's eyes to widen, Alexa had the guts.

"Give me the book now!" Evoke roared while Alexa took a few steps backwards, what was she going to do now? She could not possibly give Evie the book.

"What is going on here?" A masculine voice filled the entire place.

The young ladies turned their eyes to the direction where the voice was coming from, only to see Ezekiel standing in his glory.

'Why does he always have to be handsome?' Evie asked inwardly, trying hard to maintain a straight face.

"I do not remember inviting you both here" Ezekiel walked further toward them.

"And should I remind you that you both are not supposed to be here," he was looking at Alexa as he said, and Alexa knew the deep meaning of his statement, and did she forget to add that she was in deep shit.

"Evelynn, this place is not meant for you" Ezekiel faced her fully as he stared directly into Evie's eyes.

"Leave!" He pointed at the door, he somehow prayed that she obeyed without complaining and it was like as if heavens answered his prayer, she left but not without slamming the door hardly.

Ezekiel's face curved up into a smile, watching her little figure stomp her feet on the ground and slam the door angrily, for some certain reasons, he found her attitude fascinating.

His face darkened the moment he sensed Alexa approaching, the door opened with Alexa bowing her head.

"I am sorry my master," Alexa apologized immediately as she stepped in.

"For what?" Ezekiel pretended to be oblivious to what she was talking about.

"For bringing ma'am here," she added.

"Should I remind you that my wife is very sensitive and smart, any little clue or hint, she would be able to connect the dots and that is the last thing I want, our identities should not be known by her for her safety, and if the library would expose our true identities then she is banned from visiting the place, am I clear?" Ezekiel asked.

"Yes my master," Alexa replied with a courtesy.

"Do not forget, no use of your powers, you need to be human enough so as not to raise suspicion," Ezekiel reminded Alexa and she bowed her head in agreement.

"Leave!" Ezekiel ordered and Alexa left quickly.

Ezekiel's eyes roamed around the library, remembering the reason for his marriage. He exhaled deeply before leaving the library.
