Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

At once Evie's face darkened, she was trying to reason things here with him and here he was flirting with her!

"I am serious Ezekiel!" evie's voice sounded serious and firm, she was dead serious.

"Fine" Ezekiel agreed and his face became void of emotions, as usual, he switched back to his normal expression .

"Answer my question Ezekiel" Evie demanded.

"We both know that we do not want this marriage, you were forced into the marriage and I was mandated to marry you, once everything is settled we can both file a divorce and go separate ways, besides I know you still have dreams and goals you want to achieve. the main reason behind us getting a separate room is to respect each other's privacy. In as much as we are officially married my heart and soul can never accept you evelynn, and as I said earlier once everything is settled I would let you go," Ezekiel explained.

Evie stilled on the sofa she was sitting on and stared directly into Ezekiel's eyes, trying to find some emotions, but there were no emotions in those dead eyes of his. Did he mean everything he said?

Evie should have felt relieved but she felt hurt, like a thousand swords piercing into her soul at once, why were his words so painful? Why does she feel like she was valueless to him and that he did not care about her?

She fought the urge to cry, somehow, she wanted this marriage to work out but considering the man she married, she knew it was better not to have any false hope that would hurt her later.

"I understand you, Ezekiel, you made the right decision and I sincerely appreciate it," Evie said but why does her tone sound hurt?

That did not go unnoticed by Ezekiel but he decided not to bother himself about it, if she was having feelings for him, then it is her business to deal with.

"With everything been said, can I take my leave now Evelynn?" Ezekiel asked after a moment of silence between the both of them. Evie only nodded her head in agreement and Ezekiel left.

Evie sat glued to the sofa, she felt like she meant nothing, this was not the type of marriage she wanted, she wanted to be loved and not to fight for someone to love her.

Sighing, she stood up and left for her room, unknowingly to her, Alexa heard the conversation Evie had with Ezekiel and she pitied Evie because she knew that Ezekiel meant everything he said.

Meanwhile

"Your highness," the elders greeted the queen who just entered the room. The room was not so big and had candles which lit up the whole place.

The queen's eyes roamed around the small room as her eyes seemed to search for someone.

"You may all take your seat," she ordered as she made her way to the head of the table and sat comfortably.

"Elder Robert, why did you call for this meeting?" the question came from the queen

"Your highness, for way too long, we have lived under mercy, it is time to fight for our independence, we can not live in fear forever," elder Robert stated angrily.

"I agree with elder robert, for how long can we continue to be ruled by fear? it is time for revenge! it is time to shed blood!" elder Roman added.

"It is not the right time," the queen answered quietly, she understood the perspective that the elders were coming from, but they had to remember that they were not dealing with an ordinary kingdom, if they wanted freedom they had to be patient and wait for the right time to strike else they would all be killed.

"Sorry for this your highness but we can no longer wait, I can not continue to see my kind live in fear while they live happily, never!" another elder added.

The queen sighed, this was not the first time they were having this conversation but this time around it seemed like they were not going to wait for the right time nor would they listen to her.

"I know what you all are trying to say but we can not afford more death of our kind, the truth is hard to accept, we can not go up against them, it is a fact and not an opinion," the queen continued.

"We want war!" elder roman said fearlessly and the queen rolled her eyes towards heaven.

This was what killed her kind, they were stupidly brave and foolish, they could not strategize a plan which was why they ended up like this.

"For the first time you elders, can you just think rationally?!" the queen raised her voice for the first time since the meeting started.

"Your highness, sorry to say but this is over, we want war! we want revenge! we want bloodshed," elder Robert stated.

"That is the point, unfortunately for us, the bloodshed would not be them but it would be us, we would be the one dying and not them," the queen said.

"Do you even know who you all are up against? do you? king Alaska Owens and his more deadly son and heir of the throne, the crowned prince; Prince Ezekiel Kai Owens, should I remind you that only that prince can wipe away our kingdom from the surface of the earth without mercy," the queen said calmly which got the elders thinking.

"And do not forget to add that demon queen, the badass of their kingdom, the fearless queen, a woman who can go on a killing spree on her own and kill a thousand of us," the princess voice echoed as she walked in, she glanced at her mother the queen before her eyes went back the elders.

"In as much as we want freedom, we can never stand against them, never! But if we can think of a better way, maybe we can outsmart them," the princess added.

"Your pain, I feel, I understand that we need freedom, we need to be free from this but we can never go on a war with them else we would all die," the queen said.

"Then what do we suggest we do?" elder Roman asked.

Justt then a figure appeared in the room which shocked everyone, how did he find them here?

"Did i hear you want help?" the person that appeared asked.

"Why are you here? are you not Ezekiel's friend and companion?" the princess fiercely asked.

"Yes Iam and no I am not," the man replied with an evil smirk.

"For way too long I have been under Ezekiel, I think it is time for a change, so what do you think? I help you and you, in turn, help me," the man added.

"And why should we believe you?" the queen asked.

"For God's sake, you are Ezekiel's very close friend, what is he was the one who sent you here," the queen added and laughter echoed in the room.

"Trust me on this one," the man replied, a wicked smile on his face.

Ezekiel owens, your time is up!
