Evie and Juicy stared at each other, not knowing what to say. How would they possibly tell the girls that Evie was in an arranged marriage.
"It is nothing much, she just…" Juicy was interrupted by Evie who said,
"I was forced,"
"Forced into what?" Lily was the one who asked.
"Into the marriage," Evie replied.
"What?!" Both Lily and Sandra exclaimed simultaneously, they least expected it.
"I was forced by my parents to get married to Ezekiel for the reasons best known to them," Evie explained with a sad voice.
"That explains why you did not say I do immediately after the priest said the vows," Sandra stated, shaking her head in disbelief.
"I knew something was amiss but I could not pinpoint it," Lily added, she was shocked to the core that Evie was getting married to Ezekiel, not because she loved him but because her parents forced her.
After a few moments of silence in the restroom, Sandra said,
"we should get back to the reception hall else people would start questioning our whereabouts."
"Yes, we have to go, but Evie's makeup is stained, how do we go about that?" Lily asked pointing at Evie's face.
"Juicy, you know my makeup artist right? Please go get her," said Evie.
"What do we tell her if she asks why your face is stained?" Juicy asked.
"I would tell her that, I was feeling a bit tipsy and I came to wash my face," Evie replied.
"You know that you are seriously bad at lying, you washed your face but only your eyes and your cheeks are stained," Juicy argued.
"Just go get her Juicy!" Evie yelled and Juicy left instantly.
In no time, Juicy was back with Agnes.
"What happened? Were you crying?" Agnes asked as she rubbed the powder on Evie's face to cover up the stain.
"I was not crying, it is just that I was feeling a slight headache and I decided to wash my face," Evie lied and Agnes knew she lied, but she (Agnes) did not want to go further into the discussion.
"Good as new," Agnes smiled after she had covered up the stains.
"Thank you so much, Agnes, I am grateful," Evie appreciated and Agnes only gave her a reassuring smile before the girls went back to the reception hall.
"I am not going to lie but I was one of Ezekiel's bride candidates," Sandra broke the silence that lingered as they walked to the reception hall.
Evie paused and looked at her, "why did you not get married to him?" Evie asked.
"Because he gave me that impression that I meant nothing to him, you know, I would rather prefer to be single than to be in a marriage where the man does not love or appreciate me," Sandra replied making Evie look away.
"At least your parents did not force you," Evie muttered but it was heard clearly by the girls
"My parents do not have a say in my life, it is my life and not theirs and they can not use me as an object for acquiring more wealth, never!" Sandra stated proudly.
"You know that everyone has their challenges and problems, I never knew it was an arranged marriage, your smile covered everything up, it is hard for one to believe that you are going through a lot. I know what it feels like doing something someone imposed on you," Lily chipped in.
"I have to fight my battle myself," Evie muttered, she closed her eyes tightly to prevent the tear from falling.
"Listen, girl, have fun! Forget about your worries, life is too short to be wasted, okay?" Sandra advised, cupping her face in her hands.
"Thank you all, and please, let no one know about this, okay?" Evie pleaded and the girls nodded their heads in agreement before they stepped into the reception hall.
Evie stood at the entrance of the back door and stared at Ezekiel who sat there leisurely. Truth be told, he gorgeously handsome.
His hair was carved in a neat haircut, his grey tuxedo suit outlined his broad shoulders and his muscles were evident on his white long sleeves shirt, beneath his grey suit.
Ezekiel was like a Greek god, he could make any lady go down her knees, begging for his love.
Evie shook her head in disbelief as she walked up to him, she was going to have a conversation with him no matter what, but before she reached him, someone dragged her by her arm, and it was no other than Alice; her mother in law.
"Where have you been? I have been looking for you everywhere!" Alice asked but before Evie could form a word, Alice dragged her towards the back exit.
Evie followed Alice obediently, she stopped when they got they got to the restroom.
"I need you to change into this dress," Alice ordered and Evie stared at her in confusion.
As if Alice understood that the girl needed some explanation, she said "You would be meeting a lot of people, the elites, the creme de la creme and so much more, even the president and you can not wear this ball gown everywhere, it too heavy for you, that is why I got you a simpler gown."
Alice brought out the emerald green straight gown from its pack, the dress was heavily beaded with lots of shiny stones.
"This dress was specially bought from Turkey, the stones are real gold, diamonds and pearls and it cost a lot dear," Alice added which got Evie amazed, only if her son was like her, she would not have much problem.
"Thank you mother," Evie's heart melted at the woman's gesture.
"Anything for my princess, I bought it specifically for you," Alice's face beamed with a smile because she knew Evie appreciated it.
She helped Evie undress and then put on the new dress, though the stones on the dress made it heavy it was still not as heavy as her wedding gown.
"Thanks, mother, I appreciate," Evie appreciated.
"Thank you for making my son agree to marry you" Alice whispered in her ears, Evie did not know that she did her so much favour.
"It is time for the whole wide world to meet my daughter-in-law," Alice said proudly as she held Evie's hand and left the restroom.
Evie's wedding was one of the most stressful days of her life, she was meeting different categories of people all thanks to her mom, Alice and even her dad, it was like as if she was everywhere at the same time.
What got her annoyed was the fact that Ezekiel did not even get up from his seat.
Why was she doing the work of meeting everyone when her husband was sitting leisurely?
They did not even get to talk to each other thanks to her tight schedule to see almost everyone, and the scariest thing was that there were more than about seven hundred people in attendance.
All come from different states, countries and even continents.
Evie would not lie, it was fun meeting different people, what shocked her was that her assistant; Mia and her manager came for her wedding. She was happy to receive them all.
She was now Mrs Evielynn Owens.
