Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

This chapter is dedicated to @ lil_amore

The convoy of cars pulled up in front of the church premises.

There were lot of cars parked in the church, indicating that there were a lot of people in attendance.

The big cathedral church was located on an island.

Evie came down from the limousine alongside Juicy, her gaze landed on her parents who were outside waiting for her.

"Everything would be fine," Juicy whispered into Evie's ear when she noticed Evie's tightened grip on her dress, Evie only nodded her head in agreement.

"You look beautiful my little angel," Sonia cupped Evie's face in her hands.

Juicy rolled her eyes at Sonia. Why was she trying to act as a good mother now?

"Thanks, mom," Evie replied which shocked Sonia, she never expected a response from Evie.

Evie breathed in heavily as she held her father's outstretched hands, 'everything would be fine' she remembered Juicy's words as she walked into the church with her father.

All eyes were on her immediately they stepped into the church, from their attire Evie would note that everyone seated was from a wealthy family.

Evie's heart was thudding loudly when her father walked her down the aisle.

'I can do this, it is just a wedding!' Evie said to herself as she kept moving with her dad.

Evie stood opposite Ezekiel, the thing demarcating them was the priest and his pulpit.

Evie heaved deeply before she lifted her gaze from the ground to Ezekiel.

OMG! He was looking at her! She quickly diverted her gaze from Ezekiel back to the ground.

She felt her heart jump to her mouth when her gaze connected with that of Ezekiel.

Ezekiel himself was tired and wanted this wedding to be done as quickly as possible, he had already gotten tired of the females; both married and unmarried, staring, drooling and even winking at him.

Are they that dumb? Can't they see that he was about to get married?

This was one of the major reasons he hated females so much, they could not compose themselves and would do anything to get a man.

"Let's get started," the elderly priest said, causing Evie's heart to race faster.

A bride was supposed to be the happiest person on earth but her case was different. She was scared! She was scared of her future husband! All the rumours about him were becoming unbearable.

"If anyone has anything against these two to state that they should get married should speak now or forever, remain silent and hold your peace," the priest's voice echoed loudly. No one showed up or said a thing and that was a clue for the priest to continue.

"Do you Ezekiel Kai Owens take Evelynn Dora Tan as your wedded wife, to have and hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you both apart?" The priest asked.

"I do," Ezekiel replied firmly earning applause from the audience.

"Do you Evelynn Dora Tan take Ezekiel Kai Owens as your wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you both apart?" The priest asked Evie.

Evie remained silent, she turned her gaze and it landed on her mom, who gave her a reassuring smile, then her father whose expression was like 'say I do now! Then Juicy saw the pain in her eyes.

Evie's silence got the church murmuring, and also made Alice uncomfortable, Evie was supposed to say 'I do' so what was she waiting for.

Evie looked at the priest who in turn stared at her closely, she wanted to scream I don't but she knew she was as good as dead meat if she tried that.

"I do," Evie finally muttered, earning applause from the people as well.

Evie's throat hurt when she said 'I do' but she could not do anything about it.

"With that being said, let's exchange the rings" the priest announced and then Ezekiel moved further and put a gold ring on Evie's ring finger on the left hand and Evie did the same.

"You may now kiss the bride" the priest stated causing Evie's heart to skip, this was technically her first kiss.

Ezekiel moved forward and removed the veil covering her face, then he pressed his lips on her soft pink lips.

In just a few seconds, Ezekiel pulled away leaving Evie confused, she just shared a kiss that did not even last long.

"Congratulations to the newest couple in town!" The priest announced and jubilation came from the audience.

Evie's bridesmaids rushed to her and hugged her tightly, she was happy to have such a wonderful group of friends like this. So this was what friendship felt like.

Everyone went outside to take pictures, and Evie became the talk of the day because her mother-in-law was taking her to see different people.

The wedding reception was held in the big hall of the church, it had already been arranged by the interior decorators, and Evie knew that it was done under her mother's supervision.

The blasting songs from the speakers filled the entire hall when Evie stepped into the hall alongside her husband; Ezekiel, they were led to the couple's chair to sit and watch the entertainers.

Many people were in attendance, as the whole place was arranged in a round table setting. Evie's fake smile deceived a lot, but on the inside, she was dying silently.

Evie abruptly stood and left the hall using the back door, she was in search of a restroom, she needed to ease herself and ease the tension.

Juicy, who had eyes on her ever since the wedding, went after Evie and was shocked to see Evie, sitting on the floor in the restroom, tears flooding down her cheeks.

"Evie!" Juicy yelled as she got her to stand up.

"Why is my life like this Juicy?" Evie asked.

"Listen, I told you that everything would be fine, please believe me, and you are not supposed to be crying when it's your wedding," Juicy told her calmly.

"I would have been the happiest person on earth today, if I was not getting married to that devil's incarnate! that gay! That devil!" Evie spat as more tears clouded her eyes.

"You know that there is something called divorce, if he gives you a hard time, don't hesitate to tell me, besides my elder brother is a lawyer, he would easily file a divorce for him," Juicy stated causing Evie to look at her like someone whose hope had returned.

"So stop crying and make the best of today, not even your parents nor Ezekiel should be allowed to ruin your mood," Juicy stated and just then Lily and Sandra entered.

"What is going on here?" Sandra asked as Juicy and Evie looked at each other.

Lily the observant one noticed that something was off,

"Were you crying?" She asked.

How was Evie going to explain this to Lily and Sandra? This was heading where she did not want it to.
