Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: Further Check-up

"Thank you, Sir," Mr. Gram said as he walked away.

Meanwhile, Alistair continued to plan in his mind.

The old man would undoubtedly cause problems for his company, so he must still prepare something.

Someone knocked on Alistair's door while he was still thinking about the current situation.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Come in."

"I heard from your assistant that you are already awake. Mr. Alistair, how are you feeling?"

It was Miss Loraine.

"I'm alright. Because of the anesthetic, I don't feel any pain," Alistair reassured her.

It was rather a surprise to see how worried she was about a stranger like him.

They had never met in person before and he was sure she did not even recognize him earlier.

Her assistant had to write a note for her to know who he was.

"Mr. Alistair, the body scan equipment and Dr. Sam's other instruments have just arrived.

They are setting it up in the next room.

Dr. Sam wanted to further examine your body, and you will be moved after a while," Miss Loraine informed.

Alistair was quite grateful that she agreed to help him.

It should have been just on escaping Mt. Kang but she also arranged for a doctor immediately.

Thanks to that, he didn't have to continue to be on the run in case there were more moles on his side.

"I see. Thank you, Miss Loraine."

Miss Loraine seemed to be curious about Alistair's situation, so she went up to see him.

But before she could speak further, there was another knock.

It was the doctor.

Dr. Sam walked in and explained about his condition.

"Hello Mr. Alistair, I already treated your arms and legs.

But I still needed to check more thoroughly.

I prepared for a whole body scan.

Can we proceed with the scan, Mr. Alistair?"

"No problem, you can do that," Alistair immediately gave his permission. He understood it was for his own good.

After all, why should he refuse?

He also wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with his body.

His arms and legs had already been injured. He didn't want any hidden problems to suddenly occur after some time.

Alistair was transferred to the next room with the assistance of his bodyguards.

Dr. Sam performed a full body scan and thoroughly checked if there were further problems.

"You have no further problems.

You simply need to avoid moving your arm to allow your muscles to heal quickly.

Although your legs do not require surgery, it will still take six weeks to three months to fully recover, depending on your body's ability to heal.

You must have a doctor check on the progress of your legs' recovery each week.

You can also have them re-examined by your own doctor."

Dr. Sam explained a few more things and explained his medication before preparing to leave.

"Thank you for your treatment, Dr. Sam," Alistair smiled.

She heard from Miss Loraine and her assistant's conversation that this was a personal doctor of the Antares family.

Alistair was even more indebted to them now.

He better recover quickly so he could fulfill whatever Miss Loraine would ask as her reward for all this trouble.

"There's no need to thank me, Mr. Alistair.

I'm just doing my job.

Take care of your health.

I'll be leaving now," Dr. Sam said before exiting the room.

***

"Does Mr. Alistair have any other problems?" Loraine, who was on the first floor, asked Dr. Sam the moment she saw him.

"He has no further injuries. He simply needed to take a rest to recover faster," Dr. Sam gave explanations to Loraine as well.

"That's good news."

At least there were no additional injuries. Mr. Alistair was already seriously injured, and it would be bad if it got any worse.

Loraine would feel bad if she could not help him properly yet she would even get a reward for all this.

"I will be going now, Miss Loraine. If you need my assistance, just call me again," Dr. Sam was set to go home.

"Yes, thank you. Everything is dealt with. Someone will escort you. See you later, Dr. Sam!"

Mr. Mo immediately dispatched someone to escort Dr. Sam to his residence.

"Sarah, remember to double Dr. Sam's salary," Loraine said to Sarah, who was writing something down.

He was on vacation and yet quickly responded to their call. He deserved a raise for all this.

"Don't worry, Miss Loraine. I already took note of it," Sarah was quick on the uptake.

'What else to do? Should I continue speaking with Mr. Alistair?'

Loraine hadn't been able to talk about his plans yet.

They needed to coordinate so they would know what to do next.

"Has Mr. Alistair finished his meal?"

"No, Miss Loraine. I just saw his assistant bringing the soup upstairs," Ms. Lorna said.

"Then I can rest a little longer before talking to him," Loraine muttered to herself.

She was honestly already exhausted, but she still had to deal with Mr. Alistair.

Loraine could not even fully relax because they were still not safe in this area.

If there is an urgent situation, she must also act quickly.

But for now, she needed some rest.

They had stayed in the forest for several hours foraging for herbs.

And when they encountered Mr. Alistair, all their plans went awry and they had to head down the mountain so swiftly, take care of the injured, and ensure they escape safely.

Loraine was drained from everything she had done and experienced today.

Thus, she went to her room to get some rest.

.

.

Two hours later…

'Mr. Alistair must be done with his meal now.

He must have also spoken with his men regarding their next move.

It should be fine to speak with him now.'

As soon as she walked into the room, Loraine saw Mr. Alistair reclined on his bed.

He was reading something on his phone.

"Did I disturb you, Mr. Alistair?" Loraine said though she knew she already did.

She had to speak with him now so she could update her guards.

"No, you didn't. And it's alright even if you do," Mr. Alistair said, putting down his phone and smiling at her.
