It was a good thing Loraine went foraging in the forest today.
If she didn't, she might have gotten stuck in her bungalow unable to leave until those people were done with their search for Mr. Alistair.
From the former Miss Antares' memories, Loraine learned that it was rare for Mr. Alistair to be seriously injured in an attack.
After all, attacks on rich people were not new. Especially those involved in business.
Rand Antares wasn't exempt from that. And so was Alistair Hilton.
Since the attack was from Mr. Alistair's family but was already able to injure him this much, it was clear that the goal was to kill him.
Whoever it was would probably use a lot of his power to make Mr. Alistair disappear.
At least Mr. Alistair had some luck though.
His enemy would not be able to find him in a short time.
Even if they searched for the route they took, they would not find anything.
And that was because Loraine was traveling secretly.
To ensure her safety, they used their modified cars when they left the mansion.
The cars appeared to be ordinary on the outside, but all the safety measures were in place. These cars were military-grade.
Loraine could see from these measures in place that Rand Antares treasured his daughter a lot.
Every time Loraine traveled in secret, cars like this were utilized to ensure her safety.
"Sarah, how much longer until we arrive at the place you arranged?" Loraine inquired since Mr. Alistair looked paler than before.
His alarm and will to escape from his pursuers alive must have helped him not feel the pain that much earlier. But now, the pain was visible in his eyes even if he didn't groan or talk.
He had probably already lost a lot of blood and his condition was worsening. They needed to arrive as soon as possible.
"We should be able to get there in about forty minutes," Sarah replied as she checked the time.
"I see. That's great," they had already cut the time greatly.
They had already sped up as fast as they could without alerting any authorities.
Thirty minutes later, they finally arrived at their destination.
Sarah had rented a vacation house.
The location was conspicuous but still away from prying eyes.
Loraine noticed Dr. Sam as soon as she entered the house.
"Good afternoon, Miss Loraine.
Whom am I going to treat?" Dr. Sam was relieved to see that Loraine wasn't the one he would treat.
When he received a call from Mrs. Sarah, he assumed he would be treating Miss Loraine.
Seeing that Loraine was safe and sound, he understood it was someone else.
"Please wait a moment, they are carrying him over here," Lorraine clarified.
Right on time, Mr. Alistair was already being carried by his bodyguard.
He was so much paler than earlier and he looked like he was barely holding on to stay awake by sheer will.
'My goodness! He would survive, right?!' Lorraine suddenly grew worried.
What if Mr. Alistair does not survive this?
'No, no, no. I shouldn't think this way.
Mr. Alistair kept himself awake since it would be bad if he lost consciousness.
Someone like that won't die easily.'
Loraine was amazed even more at the strength of his will.
"That's a lot of blood," Dr. Sam was alarmed just at the sight of Mr. Alistair's blood-soaked clothes.
"We might need a blood transfusion.
Please carry him to the second floor.
I have already prepared all the necessary materials in the bedroom," Dr. Sam directed.
Loraine was relieved that the doctor had already arrived and prepared what he needed to use.
"I leave him in your care, Dr. Sam."
"Don't worry, Miss Loraine. I'll do my best to treat his injuries," he promised and quickly went to the second floor.
While Mr. Alistair was being treated, Loraine then took that time to receive reports so she wouldn't be too nervous about the injured people.
She maintained her act and pretended to be calm and collected.
"Mr. Mo, how's the situation?"
"Everything is going smoothly, Miss Loraine.
I have already arranged for our people to withdraw alongside Mr. Alistair's subordinates.
And I have arranged for proof that you are traveling to another province," Mr. Mo informed.
He worked quickly and efficiently and already ensured that Loraine's involvement in this would not be leaked.
"Well done. We can't let the enemy of Mr. Alistair notice that we are involved in this matter."
Loraine had only been in this world for a few days and was already involved in serious trouble.
She simply wanted to have a comfortable and relaxing life, but with what happened today, it appears it would be a little difficult.
Many people considered Mr. Alistair to be the world's youngest billionaire.
Many people looked up to him and aspired to be like him.
But now, he was seriously injured because of a "family squabble".
If Loraine and her guards hadn't been there to help him escape in time, his injuries would have worsened.
He could have even died if their pursuers caught up to them or they could not leave the mountain to get treatment.
'Ugh! And here I thought I finally hit the jackpot when I was transmigrated as a rich heiress.
But it seems it's really not easy to be wealthy!
It seems the saying that the more wealth and power you have, the bigger and more complicated your problems become, is correct,' Loraine brooded.
After waiting for a while, Dr. Sam was finally out.
"Doctor Sam, how is Mr. Alistair doing?" Loraine asked instantly.
"I already treated his wounds. His gunshot wound took some time. Thankfully, the bullet missed his bone and artery. If it didn't it would have been more serious," Dr. Sam explained.
He didn't use the word lethal but Loraine understood from the look in his eyes that just a bit more and the bullet could have killed Mr. Alistair.
This further emphasized that his enemies aimed to kill him.
