Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Potion

May noticed that I was awake and turned to me with mischief in her smile. "Well, look who had fun last night." I glared at her despite the confusion in my mind. "No, I didn't! Shut up, you stupid head!" I turned away quickly as her face became surprised and she walked up next to me. "It's a little early in the day for you to be calling me a stupid head. Is something wrong?"

Before I could answer her Cecile came up to the table we were on. "Good morning you two. I suppose you're planning on heading on your own way then." I stood up and started to walk away. "Yes, if we can manage to roll Saniel off of that plate." Later, after we had woken up Saniel and May said goodbye to the giants, we went back into the forests in the direction of the next test.

We decided to walk since I expected Theodius to appear out of nowhere again. We had walked a while into the peaceful woods before a blue fire appeared in front of us as I had predicted. Theodius took its place with a confident posture as always. "Hello again you two. How was my date you ask?" I stood still with an unamused expression. "We didn't ask-'' He answered himself before I could finish my sentence with cockiness in his voice. "Let's just say some shots were fired! Hahaha!" He raised his fists beside his pelvis and my jaw moved to an underbite in irritation. "Ugh." The harp from before briefly appeared in his hand during his next sentence before he sent it away again. "Last night was so good I even got to keep this as a thank you haha."

May then held her hands in front of her and her tone was high as she spoke. "Does that mean it went well? Like, you're going to start seeing each other?" I could tell by the hopefulness in her voice that she was asking whether or not he was going to switch his attention from her to someone else. Theodius walked over to her with a hand on his chest. "Aw, don't worry cutie, it was just a fling. You're still my number one girl. Hey, wanna see something I call fish out of water?"

I raised my hand in an attempt to stop her from answering that but her innocence got the best of her before I could. "Sure!" He then pulled her in tightly against him and shook his head quickly in between her breasts while making gurgling noises. "Ahhhh!!" May screamed and I rolled my eyes and ripped him off of her by his neck. "Ah!" I threw him back to where he was standing before and wiped my hand on my hip. "Just put her under the next spell, you creep."

He corrected his balance and a bottle filled with bright pink liquid appeared in his hand. "Of course. I just cooked up this spell this morning. It's in potion form even though it becomes a mist cloud once it's exposed to oxygen. Isn't that cool?" He then placed his other hand on the cork on the bottle and stepped toward May again. In the split second before he opened the bottle I noticed an evil look in his eye.

I wondered what exactly the spell did to cause that look until I noticed the shape of the bottle. It was in the form of a heart. I realized what was going on as he cast the mist over May's face and she closed her eyes. I then quickly moved my feet under Theodius so he would fall out of May's sight before she opened her eyes again. A thud came from the ground as he landed, and I walked up next to him with anger. "Oh no you don't! That's a love potion, isn't it?! Meaning, she'll fall in love with the first thing she sees?! There's no way I'm dealing with May falling in love with you of all things!"

Before he could respond, May spoke from behind me. "Dedrin?" I paused and turned to see her looking at me with her eyes dilated and her smile bright. "Dedrin, I, I love you so much!!" My eyes widened as I realized what I had done, and May immediately hopped up onto me and started nuzzling my cheek. "AH!" I tried to push her off but her grip on me was too strong. "Get off of me!!" As I struggled, Theodius got back to his feet and laughed in the back of his throat. "This worked out so much better than I had planned! Good luck cracking this one. Haha."

I managed to push her off and hold her back by her face as she continued to reach for me. My expression fell back to its original annoyed state and I turned to him. "Actually, this isn't much different than normal." Surprise filled Theodius's eyes as he heard that until he smiled again. "Well, you better hurry. It'll get worse as time goes on." He then disappeared into blue flames and May got free from my hold.

She pushed me back into the tree behind me and started to kiss me deeply. "Mmm!" I quickly pushed her back by her shoulders and my face flushed from feeling her lips again. "We have kissed way too much for just travel companions!" She continued to fight me to get closer. "We haven't kissed enough for lovers! Please hold me, Dedrin! I love you too much to not be in your embrace for more than a second!"

My blush deepened and that strange feeling I had earlier came back to me. I quickly shook it off and pinned her to the ground. While I had her restrained I reached into her satchel and pulled out a rope. "Wow, you really do have everything in here." I then quickly tied her up against the trunk of another tree. "There. That should hold you." I said as I tightened the end of the rope.

May continued to smile as her lost gaze fell upon me. "There's no need to tie me up when you have already captured my heart." I sighed and stood up next to Saniel who was very interested in what had happened. "See what happens when you allow yourself to be caught by the illusion of love? She's gone mad."

I shook my head and kneeled in front of her again as she struggled. "Come on May, you need to focus. You know all about this love stuff, you must know the antidote to a love potion." May nodded and my hopes rose. "I knew you did. What is it?!" She shook her head in response and continued to smile. "I won't tell you while I'm tied up. I want you to kiss me." I raised an eyebrow. "I'll kiss you after you tell me." She shook her head again. "Only before. I want to stare into your icy eyes as you warm me with your body."

I never thought I would hear such a thing come out of her mouth. I was speechless. 'Gods, that is some powerful stuff. How the hell am I going to get her to tell me the antidote?' I avoided looking into her eyes which sparkled more than usual as she stared at me with them. "Okay. How about this? I keep you tied up and you tell me the antidote?" She giggled and tilted her head at me. "You're so silly. I'll do anything you ask if you let me touch you."
