LILYANNA'S POV
We finally made it to the party and damn, the house was huge. Definitely owned by someone extremely wealthy. The house was sleek and modern surrounded by a gated fence. Una parked the car on the street as we headed up the driveway on foot. The house even had a four car garage.
~Who needs that big of a garage?~
To the right I saw drunken men and women jump into a huge sized swimming pool, wearing little to no clothes. My vision snapped back as a man I did not recognize started walking towards us. He had short, curly brown hair and slightly tanned skin. I definitely felt overdressed as he was only wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
"Una! I'm so glad that you could make it!" He gave Una a small hug, being careful to only touch her waist.
"Jeremy! I'm happy to be here!" They chuckled before I felt his eyes shift to me.
"Who is this beautiful woman you brought along with you, Una?" My bestie grabbed my arm, but it didn't feel as if there was something wrong. More like she was excited to show me off.
"This is my bestie Lilyanna! She just moved here so be nice!"
"Me? Not nice? Never." He spoke with a sarcastic tone. Jeremy stepped towards me and held out his hand. "It's nice to meet you Lilyanna, Una here has talked about you a lot."
"Did she now?" I accepted his handshake and glanced at Una who gave me a mischievous smile, "Now if you don't mind, me and Una are going to go inside. It is quite cold tonight."
"No, I don't mind at all. You girls have fun."
"Oh, we will Jeremy!" Una said as she dragged me into the house. It was almost hard to hear with how loud the music was and the chatter. At points it felt overwhelming, all the people so close together. Una dragged me to what looked like the kitchen, my ears finally felt sweet relief as the noise level went down drastically.
"So...who was Jeremy?" A grin grew across my face.
"Oh nothing, just the man who works at the bookstore."
"What? I thought that was some guy you just met, not someone you personally knew."
"Why on Earth would I go to some random guy's party?"
"You never told me you knew him " I lightly punched Una's arm.
"Oh, sorry. I thought I did...my bad." She shrugged with a sarcastic smile.
"Ugh. I swear if you weren't my best friend you would be alone right now."
"Well it's a good thing that I am huh?" We both chuckled as Una got us some beers. She put her fingers in both our cups.
~Still white, thankfully no drugged booze.~
"Ew, now I have dirty finger beer."
"That's what you get for threatening to leave me alone." We went into the living room and we started to dance. I had no idea how long we were dancing, but I felt so alive and free.
~It has been a longtime since I was able to do anything like this. I'm not in Louisiana anymore, he can't control me anymore.~
I shivered at the thought of my ex.
~I hate that man, with every fiber of my being. I hate what he did to me, I hate what he put me through. But most of all...I hate that I loved him.~
I felt the need to clear my head. My mind was bringing back memories I wanted to forget. Wounds I wanted to remain hidden, were reopening. I made my way through the crowd until I reached the sliding glass doors to the pool. I walked outside and decided to go to the back of the house. I saw small groups of people, and the music was once again soft to my ears.
"Lilyanna!" I turned to find Una following right behind me.
~Crap, I must have worried her.~
"Lily, are you ok?" She gently placed her hands on my arms, "You ran off so fast that I was worried something had happened to you."
"I'm sorry Una, I was just getting overwhelmed. I needed some fresh air."
"That's fine. Just next time please let me know so I'm not running after you. Do you know how painful it is to run in three inch heels?"
I let out a soft laugh as Una began to rant about how she hates walking in heels, but how she looks so cute in them.
~She has never fails to make me laugh, I am so grateful to have a friend like her.~
I suddenly felt like I was being watched. I turned to see who it might be and my eyes locked onto one of the most handsome men I'd ever seen. He was tall, I mean really tall. At least 6 feet. He had broad shoulders, and his chest was defined underneath his shirt. You could definitely tell he worked out. He had the same color of hair as mine, but he did not share my eyes. Instead his were the brightest shade of Indigo blue I'd ever seen. He was with a group of other tall, handsome men. But none compared to him.
I felt my body purr in excitement as I caught his eyes looking at me from head to toe. A part of me wondered if he liked what he saw, a part of me wanted to show him more. I shook my head quickly back to reality.
~I can't get involved with another man right now, not after Jason.~
I turned away from the stranger, and found Una still caught up in her own rant.
"You know what I mean though, right Lily?"
"Sorry Una, I have no clue what you are talking about."
"What! Did you listen to anything I just said?"
"Sorry...but no. I was too busy being distracted by the tall, handsome man who was staring at me."
"What?" She turned towards his direction, and as soon as her eyes landed on him they widened, and her jaw dropped. "Girl, I can't believe it. That is not just some random handsome guy staring at you, that's Indigo Woods!"
"Who is Indigo Woods?"
"Only the most desirable man on campus. I know literally hundreds of women who have tried to get with him, but he rejected them all."
"Really? He rejected all of them? I kind of find that hard to believe, usually guys eat up all that attention."
"I know right, I have met way too many men who are just womanizers."
"Hey Una, do you think he's good in bed?"
"Why? You curious?"
"I don't know"
"Ah huh, keep telling yourself that. Anyway, I got to use that bathroom. Will you watch my drink for me?"
"Of course." I grabbed Una's beer and placed it at a nearby patio table.
"Thank you bestie! I'll be right back!" She shouted as she ran back inside. I sat down in the patio chair, contemplating about tomorrow. I took a sip of my beer but quickly realized I finished it off.
~I'll grab a beer when Una gets back.~
I was then joined by a man holding two beers in his hands. He had dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes. His skin had a soft tan and he was wearing a tank top, shorts, and shell necklace.
~Oh great, a surfer guy.~
"Hey there, hope you don't mind if I join you. I saw that you ran out of beer and thought you would like another?" I was cautious, I knew that it usually doesn't end well for girls who accept drinks from strangers.
~But beer does sound nice right now.~
"Sure, thanks." I grabbed the beer and dipped my pinky finger into it. I was overjoyed when my nail polish stayed white.
"So, what is a beautiful thing like yourself doing out here all alone?"
"I'm not, my best friend will be back soon. She just had to take a piss."
"Ah, that's dope. You from around here?"
"Maybe, but I don't see how that concerns you." I took a sip of my beer, hoping it would make this situation a bit more bearable.
"My bad, I'm just trying to make light conversation. What do you like to do for fun?"
"I like to write."
"That's cool. I personally prefer surfing the California waves. Nothing beats the smell of the ocean breeze."
~I knew it.~
"Oh, that's nice."
"Hey, is that your friend coming over our way?" I looked back to see if Una was coming to save me, but I couldn't find her anywhere.
"No, it's not."
~Unfortunately.~
"That's too bad."
"Yeah, it is." I took another sip of my beer as I mumbled underneath my breath.
"So... I was wondering if you would like to head back to my place?" I tried to say no, but I couldn't get the words out of my mouth. I started to become dizzy, my vision going in and out. I began to feel my body getting heavier and harder to move. I dipped my fingers into my beer again, my heart raced as I saw my nail polish turn to black.
~He...he drugged me.~
"Are you ok? Here, let me help you." That was the last thing I heard before my vision went black.
