Valeria didn't know when she drift off to sleep, her back ached and she grimaced at the slight pain as she straightened her back. They rested last evening after the long journey and now it was day break. Stretching as she stood up, she searched for Hubert but couldn't find him.
"Hubert?...Hubert, where are you?" She called but no reply. Picking up her bag she took out the water bottle and uncorking it, she rinsed her mouth with the water.
Birds sang beautiful melodies and the sky shone brightly, bringing colours to the forest. Eating in silence, Valeria remembered what Hubert told her.
'...I won't be around you always from now on...' She felt lost, not knowing what to do she proceeded on her journey. She willed her heart and mind to be strong, not wanting to be weak. Straightening her back, she held her head high. Trees after trees with birds following as if guiding her, she was intent on the narrow road she followed.
