Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Prodigy

For most of my life, I was told that I was smart and I agree with them. I have seen many people who have wasted their intelligence but I take advantage of mine. I think with my brain rather than my heart so when I use people for my benefit I do not feel guilt or remorse if I hurt someone.

People would call it a flaw but I would disagree. I used my intelligence to be accepted into the most prestigious high school in the world MOPA High and today is the first day of school.

The time is 8:00 am and the privately-owned school train has arrived at the station. I was the first one to enter the train and others followed from behind. When I first saw inside the train it impressed me because I had expected somewhat less than what we got.

As the train departed I started to look and inspected what the others looked like.

All of them look like they come from wealthy families. On the contrary, my family is living paycheck to paycheck and this school should guarantee that I can get into any college and make their living conditions slightly better.

Around 8:20 am the bus arrived at the school and I was the first out.

Near the school entrance, there were three men dressed in golden yellow leather suits. One held the door while the other two gave other students directions. I did not need the directions.

Using the signs I managed to navigate to my class, F-. In this school, two main factors determine your placement at the beginning of the first year which is athletics, and exam scores.

Your class rank can change depending on how well you do on those factors.

I had scored high on the second part of the written exam however, the test location was far away and I had issues arriving at the test site on time for the first part. I was able to take the second part but not the first part since I missed it.

My athletic abilities need significant improvement which is also another factor why my class rank is low.

Once I entered the classroom I took a seat in the middle of the classroom. Everyone else behind me also took a seat and many of them began to talk to one another.

Two girls sat around me one to my left and one to my right. The girl on the left had long black hair as well as being relatively tall for a woman.

She was wearing the school uniform which was white with some blue highlights across. The girl with black hair also had a large chest which would make many men fall and beg to see them.

Thankfully I hold myself to a better standard.

The girl on my right had long silky smooth blonde hair as well as being a relatively short height for a girl. Her chest is just average and it's nothing really to write home about.

I began to strike up a conversation with the girl in black hair first.

"Hello, my name is Takeo what is your name?"

She ignored me.

I then thought to myself asking if I was too formal and if maybe my introduction seemed artificial. I tried again

"I'm Takeo what's your name?"

I was ignored once again.

Shortly after I was ignored for the second time the teacher then walked into the classroom and he was a 40-year-old man wearing a black leather shirt with red highlights and plain brown leather pants.

"Hello class I am Mr. Sato. I will now tell you the basics of what you need to know about this school as well as the rules."

The teacher then explained that the school has a ranking system based on test scores and sports. We are allocated points based on these things. We start with points that we can individually spend on items. Each week an allowance is given for students to spend based on their test scores as well as what class they are in.

Once the total class's points surpass another by a certain margin then the class moves up a level so class A would go to A+ and class A+ would go down to class A.

The class points are similar to money used in the real world and students can buy whatever they want with it as long as they had enough points. Students can not buy more points with money. depending on how well they do in the two ranking factors. There will also be assignments that can give students points as well.

Students can lend their points to other students even those who are in other classes. If someone spends points they lower the total of the class points.

Since I'm in class F- I will be expelled if I do not move up to another class level by the end of the quarter which means every year a total of 4 classes will be expelled and out of the 18 classes only 2 will graduate by the end of senior year.

After a class is eliminated from the f- class then the class with the lowest points will be expelled. There are more classes with different years but this only applies to students in the same year as me.

The teacher turned on a large black monitor and it displayed the phrase, "Election Day."

"This school does indeed have a student council like other schools do. If you are not interested well then I suggest starting to become interested because if you get a place in the council you will get special privileges as well as a bonus of points depending on the position. Since you are in class f- it would boost your chances significantly of not being expelled from this school."

The teacher then passed everyone a piece of paper.

"You will write a speech for the position of the student council that you wish to choose. That of course is for those who are interested and is not mandatory so no penalty will be given if you do not write a speech."

As the teacher said those words the girl on my right stood up and asked when is the deadline.

"The deadline for the speeches is one hour from now. After everyone who wants to write their speech turns it in you will be sent toward the auditorium and will present it in alphabetical name order. Everyone who is not presenting at the moment will sit and listen to their speech. After everyone presents you all are required to vote whether you have written a speech or not. Also, the positions that are currently available are Student Body President, Student Body Vice-President, Student Body Secretary, and Student Body Treasurer. If you write a speech and present it you will lose half of your total points if you do not win the position you run for. Since you're in class f- start with 100 points so you would have 50 points left and if you win you keep your points. You can only run for one position and another election will be held at the start of next year. Those who are running for the Student Body Treasurer will present first then the Student Body Secretary will present then the Student Body Vice-President will present then finally Student Body President will present."

I was a little bit surprised with the very little timeframe we had but it was manageable for me. The girl on my right did not think so.

"One hour? Are you kidding me? Why do we have so little to prepare and why can't the deadline be in a week?"

The teacher then chuckled.

"May I remind you that you are in the most prestigious school in the world. Students need to be able to do tasks not only quickly but efficiently. This school expects nothing less than the best from all of you. It's fine if you don't want to participate but it will possibly cost your class points to lack behind and you might all get expelled."

We were in a bad position before but this does make it worse. We are practically being forced to enter the election since we are the lowest-ranked class in the school.

The majority of the class immediately started writing in hopes to save themselves from being expelled. I could read the room and I saw many were stressed. Only two people were not worried.

The girl with black hair to my left and I were the only ones who were calm. She could prove useful to me because I assume she believes that her abilities are competent enough to win whatever position she was running for.

I had just realized something very important. I needed to speak up and if I didn't I would be expelled. I stood up.

"Hey guys I know you don't know me well yet but I need you all to listen."

Everyone in the class except the black-haired girl looked up at me.

"Listen guys whoever is confident in their abilities and thinks they can win their position raise your hands."

Everyone but the black-haired girl raised their hands.

I know that people in this class are arrogant now. Their stupidity is baffling.

"If everyone who is running for the student council then we will all be expelled. The majority of this class is running and there are only four positions available and twenty of us running. Let's say we get one or two people elected what about the rest of the people who lost? They will lose half of their points and that will only put us in a worse position so now I say this again. Whoever is confident that they can win raise your hand."

The only ones who raised their hands were me, the blonde hair girl to my right, and the black-haired girl to my left. It turns out she was listening to me after all which is good I suppose.

I then asked the teacher a question that could help us out.

"Mr. Sato, can we have partners to help us write our speeches?"

Mr. Sato nodded at me. I then knew we had a fighting chance at getting at least one of our elected. I asked the two girls next to me what positions they were running for.

The blonde-haired girl said she was running for treasurer and when I asked the black-haired girl she said she was running for vice president however, she said it while not even looking at me.

"Alright everyone split into groups and help me and the girls who are left and right of me. DO NOT write the essay for us only give us suggestions"

The majority of the class helped but one student refused to help with the speeches.

It was a tall tan guy with curly black hair. He looked very athletic and had dark black eyes. When I asked him why he was not helping told me he didn't want to take orders like a dog.

I think that he is incompetent and knows that if he helps he would slow or ruin the speeches but he probably has a big ego that prevents him from outright saying it.

To the class, I seemed as if I wanted to protect our class and wanted to help others win the election. My true motive was to become a leading figure in the class as well as to establish that my intelligence is high.

If one of us gets elected then many will trust in me. I will use their trust against them without them knowing. I care about no one in this class except for myself.

Today's result will drastically impact this class. Even though many of us in the class don't know each other's names we have worked together for the same cause. I refuse to lose this election.

I have no intention of helping anyone but myself. I don't care if I deceive, manipulate, and hurt others to graduate from this school.
