The alarm that I set on my phone woke me up. I looked at my phone and saw that Abiko had given me credits which I assumed were for food and water.
I ordered an egg omelet and a bottle of water for one credit.
The food arrived seven minutes after I ordered it and realized it didn't come with a fork. I opened my phone again and ordered plastic spoons, forks, and knives for a point.
Once it arrived I took out a fork and began eating my omelet. It was of low quality which was expected since I ordered the cheapest one.
I missed my family as I ate breakfast. The only reason I'm staying at the school dorms and not my parent's house is so that they do not have to feed an extra person. They need the money.
I called my mom after I finished eating. She asked me how I was doing in school and if I fit in. I told her everything that happened yesterday.
After talking for six minutes we ended the call and I walked to school since it's within the walking distance now.
Abiko had left before me so I walked to school alone. There were flags for each class rank written on the flags as well as having different colors depending on the class.
Class F-, F, and F+ had a red flag.
Class D-, D, and D+ had a yellow flag.
Class C-, C, and C+ had a green flag.
Class B-, B, and B+ had a blue flag.
Class A-, A, and A+ had a purple flag.
Class S-, S, and S+ had a yellow flag.
As I walked to my class I saw a red flag with our class rank on the door. The teacher was dressed in a red jersey with our class rank on it.
"Today is the physical aptitude test but students nickname this day Sports Day. Each of you will be judged on tasks such as seeing how far you can throw, how fast and far you can run, and as the nickname suggests how well you do in sports. Don't worry only one sport will be played and you guys will be competing together against class F, not F+. Points will vary depending on how well you do. Tomorrow will be the end of the fun because we will start our first lesson and members of the student council will have their first meaning after schools end tomorrow. Vice President you should go because you might hear something other classes won't."
I am not athletic but I should be able to do the bare minimum I need to do. Normally sports days are at the end of the quarter or year for other schools but this school is different.
Maybe it's this way to help students make friends which each other because after all, our class rank can change depending on how well others do.
If people make friends they can study together and improve more than they could alone however, I am the odd one out because I prefer to study alone.
Our class then walked to the school field and we saw the grass was spray painted. The spray paint was in a rectangular shape that was very large and had a red line in the middle. There was also another section of grass spray painted. It was a line larger than the rectangle.
There was a box full of baseballs. The teacher told us to throw the baseballs from one side of the line and see how far we could throw them. This was the first exercise to measure our physical capabilities.
We were then lined up and Takayama went first. She managed to throw the ball 60 feet. After she went I decided to go next and threw the baseball 83feet.
Everyone else went and the results varied from very horrible to surprising. Abiko was one of the last to go. She managed to throw the ball 111 feet.
By the time everyone finished everyone was sweating because of the heat. The teacher then brought us to the gymnasium and inside there were cones and a table full of free water.
"Alright, class I forgot to mention something very important about the point system yesterday. You cannot buy anything outside of school even if it's with your own money. You can only buy items with points. If you buy anything with the money and not points then you will be expelled if caught. There are a few exceptions such as transportation costs so you can visit your family and your phone bill. We do not want to keep you here like a prisoner but if we allow you to buy things with money then the point system won't be as important. The goal of the point system is to get rid of those who carelessly spend them or to get rid of those who do not keep up with their studies. Also, anything purchased with money cannot be gifted to you even if someone else gives it to you. If someone gives you an item bought with points then you can keep it however, they have to be in the same class as you. Anyone who bought anything with money up until this point will not be punished because you all were not informed of this rule. From now on the rule is in place so make sure you save up your points."
I don't know how the teacher forgot to mention this but this makes my life easier.
I come from a poor family which means I wouldn't be able to afford higher-quality items without the use of points.
Students who come from wealthier families now rely on points for their items which makes this more of an even playing field for me.
This will lower the total point count for classes that are a rank above us however, this is a double edge sword since our total class points will drop more as well.
"Alright everyone so here's the deal with the cones. You will zig-zag away around the cones to the other side of the gymnasium and back to measure how good your agility is."
Everyone went one by one and took an hour for the whole class to finish. I took 25 seconds to complete it, Abiko took 23 seconds to complete it, and Takayama took 36 seconds to complete it.
My back was drenched with sweat and my uniform was darkened in some spots due to the sweat. Everyone was able to rest for 15 minutes after everyone finished.
The teacher then grabbed a megaphone and started talking through it. The bass coming from the megaphone made it hard to understand what he was saying.
"Alright everyone goes outside to the field. We will now face class F for the final exercise. The sport we will be playing is dodgeball. The rules are simple if you get hit by a ball your out unless you catch it in which case you get the person who threw the ball at you out. The game will continue until one team is out of players. Also if your cross the line in the middle you will be automatically eliminated. Unlike normal dodgeball, we added a bowling pin that you have to protect to make things interesting. If you knock over the other classes bowling pin then our class automatically wins. If our bowling pin is knocked over then our class automatically loses. You can also use a dodgeball to block other dodgeballs."
This was an interesting take on dodgeball which will make the game play out differently.
I plan on making someone who has the biggest body mass be in front of the pin almost like a goalie.
Once the goalie is out we will have to quickly replace them with another person. Two people will be near the goalie defending them.
The defenders will have dodge balls in their hands and they will deflect incoming dodgeballs so the goalie does not get hit.
Just like the goalie if one of our defenders gets eliminated then we have to quickly replace them.
I gathered the class into a group and I told them the game plan. Abiko praised my idea which was out of character for her since she was normally cold to me. Maybe she trusts me since she also gave me credits for food and water earlier. Or can it be love?
We decided together on three goalies and six defenders. Only one goalie would goal the pin at a time and two defenders would defend at the time. If we have no more goalies or defenders then the person closest to the pin will take the missing position.
The teacher handed us jerseys for us to wear.
They were plain red and had our class rank written on them similar to the one that our teacher was wearing. Everyone went into the locker rooms and changed.
After everyone changed we went back to the field and saw that there were six balls in the middle of the rectangle and one bowling pin on each side.
There were also flags for our classes on each side which indicated where each class would play.
The flags were identical to the ones that we saw at the school entrance.
The heat from the sun was similar to being in an oven. The sun was blinding to look at and the light blue sky was void of clouds.
I turned around and saw class F approaching the field.
