Chapter 4 - Something doesn't feel right

Surprisingly, the beast stopped. It did not understand what was going on.

But then it noticed Adria's hand taking something to his lips. It was a cigarette stick. Adria sparked the butt of the cigarette and after taking a deep whiff. He smiled.

"You may continue."

It growled once more in rage. Which was either out of its own stupidity it had just displayed or the smile on Adria's face. But before its fist could reach Adria anymore, Adria's fist reached its own face.

Adria punched it off his body and then he stood up and gave it an uppercut so low and so high that the force of it sent the beast through the ceiling.

Debris from the hole created fell as Adria followed through it. But when he got to the upper floor, he was surprised to see the beast on the floor looking at him strangely. It was not with any of the aggression it had before but rather a bit of pity mixed with glee.

"What the f**k are you staring at UGLY!?"

However, he suddenly felt a presence behind him and a faint realization dawned on him.

"Oh shit! you have a buddy behind me don't you?"

*Boom*

He was smacked across the room like a ping pong ball.

Rolling on the floor, he was inclined to thank his stars.

Just now, he had but barely lifted his hand to block the attack from behind in time.

He coughed out some blood and a sharp pain by his left side made him groan a bit.

He checked only to see that he hadn't been injured that badly with only claw marks visible on his body.

*Boom*

He rolled over to the side just in time before the attack reached his position. Just from the impact, he could tell that this one, although appearing smaller, was actually stronger than the previous 'dance' partner.

Using the force of his roll, he got to his feet and gave the beast a kick to its face. And then he jumped high, clasped his hands together, and brought them down like a hammer on its shoulder.

"Uhhh!!!" it howled in pain. Adria had done a good job of perfectly dislocating its shoulder.

"Yeah! I hope that hurts. I'm not yet done with you."

Adria hit again and again on the dislocated shoulder and when he thought it was right, he grabbed the big arm and pulled hard, tearing the arm entirely out of the shoulder.

"Uhhh!!!" Another terrible scream went out. One that was so loud the police and firemen outside out-front all made a subconscious agreement to take several steps away from the building.

Black blood poured out of the wound like the ever-flowing fountain at an amusement park.

"Don't worry! I won't let you enjoy all that pleasure for too long." Adria smirked.

He jumped again, but this time around, he was going for the head.

He suddenly heard the sound of a whip whistling through the air.

*smack!*

He was smacked again.

"The hell! Another one? How is that even possible?"

Adria felt wronged, "What the heck is wrong with that stupid old pot-bellied man. He said it was just one."

Outside the facility, old Inspector Jack was still addressing the firemen when he felt a slight itch in his nose and sneezed.

Meanwhile, Adria had to dodge from one side to the other. His opponents were now three bloodsucking monsters. The first was the very big one he had beaten silly with continuous jabs. The second was the smaller one that he uprooted its hand from its shoulder and the most recent one that looked even smaller than the other two. It had smacked him silly with its spine-tail.

All three of them now faced him. But in truth, he was more bothered about the latest one that had shown up. That was because this one acted weird from the rest.

It held a small briefcase in one hand and from what Adria could see, it had an intelligent look in its eyes. At least, it appeared far more intelligent than the other ones.

"Since when did bloodsuckers start carrying briefcases? Or was this one a business tycoon or something? Maybe selling blood or soul cores to other vampires." Adria couldn't help but have silly thoughts.

Something didn't feel right. Firstly, it was the information when he arrived that the vampire in the building was in the west wing where data and documents were stored. Which was exactly the opposite of where the juicy soul cores were usually stored.

Secondly, was the wrong situation report. He was told that the enemy was alone but here he was in front of three sets of unattractive jaws. And lastly, why was a vampire that only knew how to destroy and satisfy its hunger have in its hand a briefcase? That was like saying rabbits now knew the principles of family planning.

Something was not adding up and Adria was starting to have a hunch he truly wished was wrong.

However, before he could come to some conclusion in his head, the vampire with the briefcase had stretched its finger at Adria. Like it was giving orders to the others to attack.

The vampires ran for him.

"Shit!" he cursed out loud as three spine-tails came directly for his face.

*Boom*

Yet again, those outside felt the need to take another step away from the building.

Adria got to understand firsthand what flies suffered when swatted by people.

He fell through a wall and debris from the burning room fell on him. The vampires wanted to continue attacking but the one with the briefcase stopped them and did the most surprising thing. It spoke.

"Stop! We don't have time for this. Master will be angry if we are behind schedule."

However, the one that had lost its hand looked on in reluctance. Apparently, it wanted to have its revenge on Adria. Just when it had decided to obey, turn and leave, a stone was thrown at the back of its head.

"Hey, stupid. I'm not done with you."

"Uhhh!" the beast growled in anger.

*Boom*

Adria was greeted once more with a whip. This time around, He was sent flying through the wall and out of the building.

He crashed heavily against a car in the parking lot, caving it in.

"Ahh! Damn it." His back hurt terribly but that did not stop him from smack talking. "Hey, douchebags! Is that all you got?"

The reply he got was the beast with one hand jumping out of the building with its claws aiming for his neck.

But just before it could reach, the sharp edge of a wide broad sword obstructed its path.

This was the last sight it saw before leaving this world.

The broad sword landed in front of Adria completely stainless but accompanied by two black military boots that led to two long athletic legs in tight-fitting clothing. Those legs led to two round curves that stared directly at Adria's face.

For a second there, he couldn't help but feel the need to bite his lower lip.

Back up had arrived.
