Chapter 7 - Looking For Greener Pastures

"You're going to wha… OOoFFFF!" Frederick, a man who stood on top of the master mages, felt pain for the first time in a long time. As his gaze looked up at the blue skies with the fluffy white clouds passing by, he couldn't help but reflect on his past actions.

Alissia saw the strange grin on her so called fathers face and snorted. "Is he a masochist?"

"Young Miss!" Millie came running over with an arm full of books and quite a few bags hanging from her body. When Alisia turned around and saw how much Millie was carrying, she rubbed her chin for a second before giving an approving nod.

"You get everything?" Alissia asked.

"Yes! Young Miss, you wouldn't believe how much money Eldest Miss had. I filled all these bags but still could not take it all." Millie's words caused Alissia to look the other way. She only now realized how much their actions seemed more banditish than anything else. But when she thought about how the previous owner of her body was treated, she justified it as just barely acceptable.

"Ahem… good job!" Alissia forced a dry cough as she smiled and patted Millie on the head. "Let's go find a new place to live."

"Huh? Yes, Young Miss!" Millie never thought a day like this would happen. She had always wished to take her Young Miss out of this house. That the two of them would have a better life outside the prison of this estate, now that her Young Miss was willing to leave on her own, she would follow her no matter where they went! Millie saw her Young Miss as her own family. She understood the pain her Young Miss has had to go through all her life.

As to why Alissia was willing to bring Millie with her, it was for two reasons. One, she did not know anything about this world, while the second reason she feared for Millie's safety if she left the girl in the estate. If Millie decided to go out on her own and leave her behind, Alissia would not mind in the slightest.

Alissia looked at the freckle faced red headed girl, who was quite cute with her small face and big eyes, and gave a wry smile as Millie hopped along next to her with an excited expression on her face. But they only got a little ways away when a voice came from behind them. "Hold it! Who told you, you could leave?"

Alissia paused her steps and turned around to look at her supposed father, whose nose was crooked and still bleeding, and frowned. "I will say this now. But I do not care what you say, but I will be leaving this place today, and there is nothing you can say or do that will change my mind."

"Is it because of how I treated you all these years? Well, that will change from now on. You will be treated even better than your sister. Someone who can actually hit me is someone who is worthy of being my Greyworth family successor." Frederick's words seemed to be spoken from the bottom of his heart but what he failed to realize was they were filled with nothing but his own desires.

"What shit is your Greyworth family? You only care about yourself and have no concern for me whatsoever. Do you think after mistreating your daughter for so many years that you can say some sugared words and that she will come running into your embrace yelling, Papa, I love you!? You are one sick and demented man. Go play with the little princess over there. The one you gave everything to while the other daughter spent her days in a dilapidated guest shack that didn't even have walls to cover what was happening in the bathroom." Alissia turned to Millie and grabbed her waist. "Millie, hold on to me."

"Huh? Ah! Yes." Millie did not know what was going to happen, but she quickly hugged her Young Miss, and a second later… "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!" Alissa took off running at full speed. Leaving behind a dumbfounded old man who she did not give a second thought to.

In her past life growing up without parents Alissia never knew what parental love was, nor did she ever seek it out. But she had seen her fair share of villains who preyed on the homeless kids. They would use all kinds of sugared words and promises. She had spent a lot of her earlier years trying to protect such kids. So the sweet words of a man she did not know, even if he was the blood related father of this body, she would not listen to.

Alissia ran down the only road she could find at full speed with Millie in her arms. She was kind of excited about what awaited her in this new world. While her first day had yet to end, she wanted to leave this place that had prying eyes so she could figure things out in peace.

They had money, so she was not worried about going hungry. She wanted to use a bit of it to get things they could use to live outside the city for a while. With her current abilities, Alissia figured it would be easy to hunt for their own food. While she did not know much about the outside world, she did not really care too much about all of that. But this was also just how Alissia was. She was now free from her previous life's binds. She could now go out and explore the world she was put into.

It took them almost an hour to reach the gates of the estate with the help of Millie's directions. And with a leap, they hopped the wall and were now out in the streets of the capital city. Merifauna.

Alissia's eyes sparkled as she saw the strange sights in front of her. While there were modern looking buildings, and the vehicles that roamed the streets were like carriages instead of the cars she was used to seeing. They hovered in the air with strange creatures pulling them. A big bright smile formed on Alissia's lips as she looked at her new surroundings. "Millie, let's begin our new life now!"
