Drake's flames vanished, and he gazed at Sarah's burnt hands, feeling a little guilty. "Uh... Sorry." He mumbled, not knowing what else to say. It wasn't like he'd meant for her to get hurt. It just had sort of happened in the heat of the moment. "But... It's your fault." He thought but decided that saying this out loud would be even worse than if he kept his mouth shut.
Sarah shook her head no and sighed. "No, don't apologize. I'm sorry for Gradgir's shameless behavior!" She told him with all the conviction she could muster. Sarah still had tears, but her angry gaze still managed to make Gradgir feel chills.
Drake nodded his agreement. "Thank you."
"No, thank you for your kindness," said Sarah, smiling up at Drake gratefully despite being in immeasurable pain. "Let's go to the reception room and get you registered. Or do you want to write a complaint about him first?" She pointed in Gradgir's direction, who was already passed out.
Drake shrugged as nonchalantly as possible. "Uh... Sure. But what about your wound?"
Sarah smiled again, although the pain showed on her face clearly. "I'll be fine." She insisted.
"Uh..." Drake started to feel guilty for not killing Gradgir in one blow; instead, his game ended up injuring an innocent person. "...I am sorry." he apologized again.
"It's alright," She said as she pulled out a glass bottle of a red liquid and poured it on Gradgir's wound. Suddenly, Gradgir's burns disappeared, and his breathing evened out. But left the nasty scar. "Would you like some too?" She held out the bottle, offering it to Drake to pour some too, but he declined as the wound Drake received from Gradgir's shameless attack had already healed.
"You should use it on..." Drake offered her to use it on herself. However, she poured the rest on Gradgir's wound. This made Drake's eyes widen. "What the fuck are you doing?!"
"Eh? What's wrong?" Sarah asked, utterly oblivious to his reaction. "Healing him." She continued as if nothing was strange.
Drake couldn't believe what he was hearing. He pointed at Gradgir angrily. "He was fine already! What about your hands?!" he clenched his fist as he stared at Gradgir. This was so not fair! The bad guy ended up healing utterly, while the nice person ended up suffering because of his stupidity and idiocy!
Sarah looked down and quickly hid her hands behind her back. "I-I am okay. It is just a slight burn!"
"F-forget it!" Drake said, putting both his fists in his pockets.
"I- I really am fine!" Sarah exclaimed, trying her best to sound convincing. It must have worked because Drake took a deep breath to calm down before speaking again. "Fine, whatever. Do you need help carrying this asshole?." Drake pointed his finger to Gradgir, who was still out cold.
"No!" Sarah's eyes widened slightly in panic, and she raised her hands defensively. She was afraid that Drake still held a grudge and would assassinate Gradgir while carrying him. "I can do it." She stated firmly.
"For fuck sake," Drake walked past her and picked up Gradgir by his shirt as if he weighed less than a child. "I can't let you carry him with those hands." He explained in an annoyed tone and turned around to wait for Sarah to lead the way to the infirmary.
Sarah blinked, confused, before nodding. "Thank you..." She replied with a grateful smile. But her eyes still reflected her nervousness.
They arrived in front of the infirmary, and Drake immediately carried Gradgir as if he was a luggage into it without another word. He sat down beside her and stared at Sarah's injuries while waiting patiently for someone else to arrive and heal her wounds. "This girl... Have no self-preservation." Drake muttered under his breath.
It didn't take long for someone else to arrive sneakily, and when he did, Sarah immediately got startled by his sudden appearance. "Hrk! Medjid, you scared me!"
"I apologize." Medjid apologized, despite sneaking up on Sarah on purpose, and smiled lightly. "I came as soon as I heard what had happened."
"Oh... Thank you." She said with gratitude.
Medjid noticed Drake sitting next to them. "So you're the one who harmed her?" He questioned, pointing at Drake and making Sarah panic once again.
"Uh... Yeah, I did." He answered with a sigh.
"No! No! I am the one who pushed him while he was using magic!"
Drake slightly nodded in agreement. "At least you understand that." He thought but kept this to himself.
"Hmm?" Medjid glanced at her curiously. "And why would you do something as stupid as that?" Medjid asked, curious to know how her injury had been caused.
Sarah hesitated before answering, but thankfully, Medjid interrupted her thoughts before she could answer, "I will deal with you later." Medjid said to her and turned to Drake. "Now, please explain while I heal this airhead." his hands began to emit a golden light, and he put them over Sarah's hands.
"Eh?!" Sarah yelped in surprise after Medjid called her an airhead. "I am not airhead!"
"You sure act like one." both Medjid and Drake retorted simultaneously. They shared a brief glare with each other before Medjid turned his attention back to Sarah. "How does it feel?" he asked gently.
"Anyway, can someone explain what happened?" Medjid looked impatient now.
"It's because of Gradgir..." Sarah mumbled dejectedly.
"What did that idiot do?" Medjid snapped and glared at unconscious Gradgir.
"He's not..." Sarah wanted to say that Gradgir was not stupid like she always did. Whenever Medjid talked about Gradgir and his party members, he would always say insulting things, and Sarah would always defend him. However, after what happened less than an hour ago, she couldn't protect him anymore. Instead, she told Medjid what had happened. "After the test, he ambushed the examinee and stabbed him." She pointed at Drake. "Drake got furious and attacked him using magic." she looked at her own palms, which were slowly healing. "I think Drake was so angry that he would have killed Gadjir so... so I pushed Drake away."
Medjid frowned deeply. "What?!" His eyebrows rose almost to the point where they disappeared into his hairline. Medjid then focused all his attention on Drake. "I am so sorry this happened to you!" Medjid exclaimed as he turned around. "Please accept my deepest apology. As a guild master, I will ensure he would regret his action!"
Medjid declared with determination. Medjid's words sounded sincere enough, but they had an underlying hint of anger. Whenever he gazed at Gadgir, it seemed as if he was trying to kill the guy with his looks.
A smirk appeared on Drake's face. "Thanks, but please heal Sarah first... I don't want to feel guilty about this whole fiasco."
