Because of her swollen ankle as well as the mess at the wedding, Yun Shu had no other choice but to stay at home and rest.
Fortunately, her boss was not furious at her for what had happened. Yun Shu heard that the bride and groom's families were still hostile toward each other. The bride's family was too furious about what happened and decided to strike back.
Business deals between the two groups were called off. In just a few days, the groom's company had suffered a major loss.
As for the mistress who was carrying the groom's child... the woman seemed to have disappeared after she was discharged from the hospital. No one knew where she had gone to.
Later, Yun Shu heard some gossip from her assistant.
It was said that the childhood romance between the couple was fake from the beginning. The groom only wanted to get together with the bride because of her family's money.
Hearing this gossip made her sigh.
She really could not understand the rich society.
Now that the wedding was over and she did not have any other pressing projects in hand, the company allow her to work from home.
These days, she could only let her assistant run around doing a few jobs for her.
A knock on the door snapped her out of her trance.
Yun Shu looked up and saw her mother walking into her room.
"You're awake," Xu Yuan smiled when she saw her daughter. She walked over and frowned at the black and blue around Yun Shu's ankle.
It has been a week, but it seemed that the color was getting scarier.
"Mom, I'm fine. My ankle might look a little scary, but it did not hurt as much now," Yun Shu spoke. "Mom, let's go out first and have breakfast. Let's not make grandma wait for a long time."
Xu Yuan reluctantly shifted her gaze away before helping her daughter to the dining room.
As she sat down, her paternal grandmother, walked over carrying a bowl of porridge.
Yun Shu looked at her grandmother's dress-up and smiled. "Grandma, are you going out today?"
Yao Ying placed the bowl on the table and took a seat. "Uh-huh, I'm going out to see Old Man Han."
The corner of her lips tilted up.
Yun Shu's paternal grandfather, Yun Zhou passed away when she was five years old. A few years after the old man's death, her grandmother, Yao Ying started to go out and see someone new again. Yun Shu had lost count of just how many men her grandmother had dated throughout the years.
Her grandmother might have been in a few serious relationships. However, Yao Ying had never remarried.
Despite how her grandmother was dating around, Yun Shu thought that her grandmother was still in love with her late husband.
But, Old Man Han was her grandmother's latest fling. If she was not mistaken, her grandmother has been seeing this man for almost two months.
"Grandma, are you going on a date?"
Yao Ying halted. She lowered her gaze and spoke, "No. Old Man Han passed away from a heart attack yesterday. My friend and I planned to see him for one last time."
The smile on her face froze. Yun Shu was not expecting that her grandmother's recent boyfriend would pass away suddenly. For a while, she became too helpless to say anything.
"Alright. Let's not think of those unhappy things. I'm hungry."
With her grandmother's reminder, the three of them began to eat their breakfast.
Yun Shu stole a glance at her grandmother. Seeing that her grandmother's mood was not affected much, Yun Shu began to eat her breakfast.
After their meal, Xu Yuan cleaned up the table for a bit and left the house for work. A few minutes later, her grandmother's friends came over to pick her up before the two of them went out to pay one last respect to Old Man Han.
Yun Shu stayed in the living room with a few documents on her side. In a few months, another high-profile couple planned to get married. Yun Shu had met the couple and the bride had also thrown a few ideas at her.
Now that she was a bit free, Yun Shu planned to start organizing the wedding.
There are a lot of things for her to do before her next appointment with the bride.
Yun Shu was busy choosing a few suitable themes that might match the bride's preferences when her grandmother appeared at the door.
"Grandma, you're back already?" Yun Shu glanced at the clock and thought that her grandmother should have returned later.
"Something happened. Old Man Han's relatives began to fight about inheritance. The scene turned ugly very quickly. The casket fell down and the body rolled to the ground. My friend and I decided to return home first." Yao Ying shook her head in disappointment. "That old man is already dead. But those people still did not want to let him go."
Yun Shu sat quietly as she listened to her grandmother retelling her what had happened at the viewing. Hearing how her grandmother described the chaotic scene at Old Man Han's residence earlier made her sigh.
She could guess that the funeral house would not be having an easy day after what had happened.
Yun Shu was reminded of the chaotic scene from between the bride and groom. She could not imagine what would happen if the bride found out about the groom's infidelity after marriage. She could not stop shivering she recalled the way the bride had beat the groom half dead.
"Yun Shu, are your legs feeling slightly better?" Yao Ying asked. "I'm heading over to the market to buy some groceries. Do you want to come with me?"
Yun Shu tried to move her ankle a little bit. Seeing that the pain was no longer there, Yun Shu thought that it would be a good idea to go out.
The market was not that far and she had been cooped in the house for almost two weeks. It's time for her to walk around and get a bit of air.
"Grandma, I'll come with you."
