Chapter 1 - Arrival in Capital City

The click-clacking sound of the high heels resounded.

A tall woman with long black hair and blue eyes was seen walking in the arrival hall as she pulled her pink suitcase with her. Her red dress against her pale skin was too striking.

Her body swayed as she walked. Her presence was enough to make a few heads turn. Men were looking at her with a hint of lust in their eyes while the women were watching her with envy. Some of them caught their partner staring and were upset.

Yang Ran swiped her long hair and chuckled as he saw their reaction. She seemed to be enjoying the others' attention on her. The corner of her lips turned up as she glanced at the men who were watching her. The girl seemed to be waiting to see if any of the men would dare to approach her.

The phone in her purse rang.

Huo Yun Chen's latest single which was released a couple of months ago blasted from her phone. The ringtone told her that this was not a call that she could ignore.

Yang Ran stopped on her track to take out her phone. A faint sigh escaped her once she saw the name on the screen. She swiped her finger on the screen to pick up the call and pressed the phone to her ear. "Hey."

"Rachel, have you arrived in Capital City?" A girl with a soft and childish voice could be heard on the other line.

Her lips turned into a lopsided smile. In this world, the people who would call her Rachel were the people from the organization. As a member of a mercenary group, everyone would have an alias name and hers was Rachel.

"Uh-huh." Yang Ran sandwiched her phone between her ear and her shoulder. Then, she continued to walk forward while dragging her suitcase. Her eyes swept at the signage quickly. Then, she walked towards the exit. "The flight arrived a while ago. I'm on my way out and planned to head to the hotel first."

"How does it feel to return to the city after a few years?"

Yang Ran thought about this question. Then, she shrugged. "Not bad. I just did not think that I would be coming again this soon." Her head lowered as she thought of the reason she had left this country the last time. "Alice, are you here?"

"Uh-huh. My flight arrived five hours before yours." The girl popped the bubblegum in her mouth and the sound could be heard through the phone. "Your five o'clock."

Yang Ran glanced in the direction. A young girl in her pink hoodies was seen sitting on the bench while using her laptop. The dressing-up style was definitely something that Alice would wear.

"Rachel, the others are asking when are we going to meet up?"

Yang Ran did not answer the question immediately. "Are you sure that the person is in this country?"

"I can't be wrong," the girl said. "According to our investigation, Ed was last seen in Capital City a few days ago. Our men were still keeping their eyes on him. Ed hasn't left the city yet. I bet he did not think that we could find him so quickly. " Alice let out a chuckle. "Don't worry. I heard that Bruce and Melvin had already caught him and taken him to a safe place. Those guys should be having a little fun at this moment."

Yang Ran clicked her tongue. The Caucasian man's face appeared in her mind, making her annoyed. Yang Ran grew upset whenever she thought of how this man had dared to betray her.

After she had taken over the position as the leader, Yang Ran had done everything to strengthen her position. No one dared to mess up with her until recently. She had trusted that man and he had betrayed her trust.

In the end, the organization suffered a big loss. A few of their brothers and sisters lost their lives.

She could never forgive a betrayer.

In her line of work, forgiveness would only get her into deep trouble.

Yang Ran was already planning how she should be torturing that man once she caught him again. If she did not do this, then the others would lose their respect for her. What was the point of being a leader if her subordinates did not respect her?

"But Rachel, do you have to be the one to deal with this matter?" Alice asked. "Wouldn't it be alright if we let someone else deal with this matter?"

"It would be better to deal with this on my own. Let's make this an example. I don't want any traitor around me again." Her eyes grew dark. However, the look quickly disappeared before anyone could notice it. "Let's not talk about that. I'm tired. I just want to lay on the bed and relief this jetlag. Since Bruce and Melvin had caught that person, then, let them make the preparation. I will come over in the afternoon to see Ed one last time tomorrow."

"Afternoon? Why not meet up in the morning? Let's just finish this thing quickly and leave this place."

"I still have some matters to attend to."

"What are you going to do?"

"It's personal."

Alice finally let out a sigh in defeat. "Alright. I will let everyone know. Rachel, I have helped you to book a room in the Orchard Hotel. You can go and take a rest. The hotel's reputation is quite good. I heard that their desserts are the best. You have to help me get some."

Yang Ran laughed. "Un. I know. We'll see." Dragging her suitcase, Yang Ran continued to listen to Alice's reminder as she walked toward the exit.

Just then, a group of men dressed in all black was seen walking into the airport. Behind them was a tall man in a suit and tie. One look would tell her that those men in black were his bodyguard.

Her eyes subconsciously fell to the tall man.

Although the man had a serious look on his face, Yang Ran couldn't help but admire his good look. Her eyes raked over his body. Just by his posture alone, Yang Ran could tell that the man was someone who exercised a lot. His body should look good and she could imagine the muscle underneath his clothes.

Just in time, the man shifted his eyes and their gazes met.

Her lips curled into a smile as they walked passed each other, but the man merely narrowed his eyes dangerously at her before looking away.

"Rachel?" Alice's voice was heard on the other line. "Are you still there?"

Yang Ran cleared her throat. "I'm here."

"What happened?"

"Nothing." Her lips turned up as she recalled meeting the man's deep and piercing eyes. Looking into her eyes gave her a feeling that he was a dangerous person. "I saw a good-looking man."

"Oh?" Alice sounded interested. "Are you going to make your move?"

"Unfortunately, I'm on an important matter and won't be making my move." A sigh escaped her as she recalled that the man seemed to be heading towards the departure hall.

Was he leaving or coming over to send off someone?

Yang Ran decided that she should not be thinking of the man who she will never see again. "Too bad," She said with a shrug. "I don't think that we will be crossing paths again."
