Yang Ran let Alice to ran to the window as she began to shoot at the men. Her aiming managed to kill one of the men instantly.
However, the men were quick to realize what was going on and started to shoot in her direction. Yang Ran hid behind the table and glanced at Alice.
Once she was sure that the girl managed to get out, Yang Ran raised her gun again and started to shoot. This time, the men were more cautious. They hid behind the wall and only suffered a gunshot on the arms and torso.
With one swift motion, Yang Ran went out through the window. She glanced at Alice and spoke, "Jump! Land on your feet and protect your head."
The girl shivered in fear. But she also knew that they had no choice. If those men managed to catch her, she would die anyway. It was better to struggle and give her a chance to escape.
Taking a deep breath, the two jumped down. They landed on their feet first and rolled around the ground to reduce the impact.
Alice let out a cursing word.
Yang Ran was the first to recover. She stood up quickly and grabbed Alice to a safe place. "Are you alright? Did you injure yourself anywhere?"
Alice shook her head.
"Good." She grabbed the girl's hand and ran towards the main road.
The men came to the window, wanting to chase after them. They pointed their gun at the girls but then remembered that their boss still had an important matter to ask that woman. In the end, they could only keep their bullets and jump down to give them a chase.
Unfortunately, their hesitation caused them to lose sight of the women.
A group of people, probably the restaurant's customers were gathered outside the building. There were too many people around and they started to scream in fear upon seeing the gun in their hands.
The men scanned the crowd, but could not see the people they were looking for.
Meanwhile, Yang Ran pulled Alice to a quiet alley and checked for injury on her body. A sigh of relief escaped her once she saw that the girl was not injured anywhere.
"Rachel, what are we going to do now?" The girl sobbed. "Everyone is gone."
She recalled the scene they watched on the screen earlier and then how Bruce and Melvin were shot in front of their eyes. Her heart wrenched at the thought that everyone they know had died in such a terrible way.
"Who are those people? Why did they want to kill us all?" Alice continued. Tears streamed down her cheek and her face reddened as she tried to suppress her emotion.
They all knew that being in this line of work would mean putting their lives in danger. However, none of them would expect that they would be annihilated like this.
What kind of grudge do these people have with them to kill everyone? They won't even let anyone survive!
Yang Ran pursed her lips into a thin line. Her eyes darkened as she thought of certain things.
Their security at the residence in F Country was supposed to be impenetrable. It shouldn't be easy for anyone to just go in and kill everyone.
Once an intruder came in, someone would notice and the security would warn everyone. It was impossible for a group of people to march in without being noticed.
Looking at the live video just now, Yang Ran could guess that things were not that simple.
There were traitors among them. Not just one. There should be more than one person. Otherwise, there would be no way for them to succeed.
"Let's not talk about it now," Yang Ran said. "Alice, right now, the two of us might be the only one who was left. We have to stay alive."
Alice continued to sob.
"We can't let our brothers and sisters die just like this. We have to find out who was that person who wanted to mess with us and get our revenge."
Alice bit her lips hard to control her emotion as she nodded.
"Let's go somewhere safe first."
Alice nodded again. The girl wiped the tears streaming down her cheek with the back of her hand. Then, without saying a word, she continued to follow Yang Ran.
Yang Ran pondered over things before dragging the girl to a cheap motel.
Fortunately, Yang Ran had carried extra cash with her. After giving the receptionist some extra money, the two managed to get a room.
Yang Ran slid in more cash to the receptionist and requested to get a few changes of clothes and some necessities.
When they entered the room, Yang Ran sent Alice into the bathroom first to let her clean up.
The motel was a little old and have some strange smell all over. However, this might be the only safe place for them. They could not return to their hotel before they figure out that everything was safe.
However, Yang Ran knew that she had to return to her room and get a few important things.
It might be dangerous but she could not leave Alice behind even for a second.
She had lost too many people today. Alice might be the only family she has.
A knock was heard from the door.
Yang Ran looked through the hole and saw that the receptionist was alone. She observed the woman's body language and finally opened the door once she was sure that it was safe.
"I bought the things you requested earlier," the receptionist spoke with a lazy tone. "The shops are mostly closed at this time. It was hard to get the clothes for you." She looked at the clothes on Yang Ran's body and could guess that her dress was not that cheap.
It was too strange to see someone who had a lot of money to stay at this motel. However, the receptionist has worked at the motel for years and had seen a lot of things. It was better not to know too much.
Yang Ran peeked into the large bag and saw that other than clothing, the receptionist had also bought them some toiletries and food.
"Thank you." Yang Ran nodded.
"Hey, you gave me a lot of money. This is the least I can do to help." The receptionist spoke with a shrug before she turned around and left.
